  • The strings at 3:13 ARE NOt in the ORIGINAL MIX. ONLY THE 5.1 VERSIONS!

  • How come everyone is saying the strings are in the 3:13 bit? I can't hear them? I dunno if I have a different version to some people, but they're definitely not in mine. And they aren't in the instrumental either...

  • Have nobody actually heard the strings in that 3:13 part before? I heard it the first time I listened to the song...

  • @Jake123557 same, it is actually pretty audible :)

  • How can no one hear the strings?? They are so obvious in the final version

  • How can you not hear the 3:13 strings in the original?! I could hear them easily even before this.

  • i dont think there is strings in the song that might just be for the 5.1 version cuz i ve tried really hard to listen for them and i cant hear them

  • 3:13 shivers!!!!

i thought you guys meant the first ones but then i thought "wait the song's only 4 minutes and the first strings are like a minute in.. so which strings?" then 3:13 comes "how did i not notice this before?!?!"

  • Holy. Strings.

I was just like "Okay, 3:13 is when it kicks in?" I was like, hm, okay... So I was waiting and then I freaked out. holy shit.

  • Listening to 3:13 on the 5.1 version is like having an eargasm.

  • this version is better than the cd one.

  • fuukin dumb asses....the keytar is for the synths

  • any body know how Matt's keytar works??

btw orgasm when matt sings in robot voice. thats obviously the non-technical name for it. ummm distorted voice?

  • @ellissapurser It's a vocoder. Also, I'm not sure how his keytar works exactly, but it looks like some expressive button or trigger that he can control a filter with.

  • @platinumdynamite Question... so do you think that the buttons on the neck of matts keytar are different voices and expressions or....

  • @ellissapurser Well as far as I know it's just a MIDI controller. I actually found out there are strings over the buttons but I'm not sure if they're just for Matt to use as a guide, or to complete a circuit for something. I'm pretty sure you can assign the buttons to anything, similar to how the XY Pad on his guitars work.

  • @platinumdynamite very interesting... thanks!

  • @platinumdynamite the strings are metal, and the buttons where a fret would be are also metal, so when the strings are pushed down it creates a circuit, sending off a signal to play whatever sample its set to

  • Ahh! Sounds like Chris has his bass through some sort of bass-synth..

  • I think it's a ton of fuzz

  • @lordcroesus I actually think that sort of filtered sound could be Matt's keytar, the effect used on Undisclosed Desires live. if you listen to other tracks, Chris' bass is just a normal sound.

  • yeah I agree with platinumdynamite

  • @platinumdynamite definetly!!! that makes sooo much more sense!

  • Its a shame that the strings at 3:13 are almost inaudible on the final mix. That part made it more epic for me

  • i don't even notice those strings until today!

  • ...And I jizzed in my pants

  • What exactly is '5.1'? :P

  • Dolby surround versions of the album.

  • Aah, I should've known that. Thanks!

  • 5 speakers, 1 subwoofer. dolby surround

  • Thanks for these!
