wow....way to show 'due regard' at those stop signs. You put more people in danger than you save. And the siren....really, c'mon...there weren't any cars in your lane at all. Stop being a spanker and making the rest of us look bad.
@SASD209 There were only two stop signs in this responce. As far as the siren and SERIOUS FIREFIGHTER like you should know that in some jurstictions you are required to have them on no matter what time of the day or night reguardless of traffic conditions, oh the control for the powercall is on the officer side of the engine in this case so I had no control over that. As far as being a "spanker" I moved passed that stage quite a while ago but, thanks for your concern. Where do you run at?
I'm surprised that you guys have a fire lane in most of your cities in the US,I'm from Australia, and down here we don't have any fire lanes,i don't think,so if there is a fire call out, we have a line if(you wanna call it a line) called a "tram line", so the Firetrucks, police, ambulance, police bikes are allowed to use that line to get to their calls quicker, i don't know if we have a system down here which controls the traffic lights for the emergency vehicles...
The only reason that I "blew" through the school zone like that is because it was a federal holiday and there wasn't school, otherwise there are a some kids that walk and don't look before crossing in the middle of the street there and I would've been going way slower. The signals are set to still go off at 45 mins before school starts and ends even if there isn't any. The powercall control is on the officer side, can't control it as a driver.
psh this is great driving right here, you know how hard it is to lose control of these trucks when youve been driving them for god knows how many years. i do 90 with snow on the ground in my pov with out any problems and dont get any shit for it.
It totally varies from place to place, but in most places, EMS is part of fire.
Either way though, most fire departments send another apparatus on EMS calls (whether it's an engine, truck, or squad truck). They often arrive before the ambulance and begin administering care, and it's nice to have the extra manpower.
The engine also responded because the accident involved a car on a street. The engine was used to block traffic, and could perform extrication if needed.
Thx for the answer! And of course you always need fire when u need the jaws of life, you got fuel spillage and/or fire etc. Plus of course US fire trucks can block a full 3 lanes of traffic, our tiny Volvos and MANs can't pull that off lol!
Please note that somehow with one of the comments, and all replies to it got marked as spam somehow. I don't know how/what caused that to happen. Please still feel free to post comments/replies and I will work at resolving whatever issue caused it, thanks.
The smaller SUV is supposed to be in front! When responding, they are supposed to travel in order from smallest to largest! In most situations, it's police cars first, then ambulances, then fire trucks. And also, the vehicles in back should NOT turn off their sirens, because technically you're not allowed to turn off the siren while the lights are still on! Check your facts before criticizing someone!
yall are gay, the video was great, i thought you drove very proffesionaly and with the safety of pedestrians at mind. And that intersection at 1:50ish, you could totaly see that it was clear well before the truck got there, and the whole siren thing with the other vehicle responding Wildfire53575 is bull, it doesnt matter, i for one think a person is going to see and hear a huge fire truck regardless is theres a smaller suv infront with lights and sirens. Great job guys keep it up.
Sorry I am an EVOC Istr. The use of the federal siren with it wound up does nothing "see NFPA case studies". Also the MPO failed to enter the intersections with do-regard and also over used the air horn at the intersections. The truck was going over the speed limit I know were I live the emergence vehicle is only to go over the speed limit by 10 mph. been a firefighter for 11years and am 3rd generation
only 3rd generation in this video unlike 4th in another comment you left? I'll agree with you the Q needs to go all the way up and all the way down to have people focus on where it's comming from. Notice the driver hardly hit the airhorns except at the one intersection maybe one long blast more than what you would've liked, sorry no one but you is perfect everytime they respond. That's right we can't see your perfect textbook responce video because you haven't posted it.
You obviously have never had EVOC the need for you to take it is proven. You don't pay attention to the speed you go, the environment around you "black ice", who has the right-of-way. Have you never been told when in convoy never use the same siren let the vehicle ahead of you do the work. Also you were to close to the head vehicle to even have a siren on to begin with.
Like I posted in another video of mine, where is your responding video???? Yes I have evoc 5, got in when virginia still had evoc 5. Black ice, it was about 45-50 outside at the time and I had driven that route earlier in the morning when it wasn't as hot outside and no ice, thanks anyway. Also Mr.Evoc instructor, you should also know that people don't look for a 2nd vehicle responding when the 1st goes past so what does it hurt to let them know you're there???
2nd video that you've comented on where you said something that is conflicting with evoc. Also did you hear the driver tell the officer that he was going to let PD plow a path instead of going right and having two emergency vehicles going through traffic in two different directions, didn't think so?
At the first stop sign at the 1:51 mark, I started looking at that intersection at the 1:41 mark the instant we cleared the last intersection. If you were actually there and knew the road you can see that the suv on the left stayed in place from the 1:41 mark all the way until after we passed through the intersection. Also the right side of the intersection can be seen from the 1:47 point on if you were there, more than enought time to stop. The 2nd one, had to slow down to turn so............
Somewhat/not really. If your responding with your lights on your supose to have it, or another warning device, on but at 3am and in a residential area it dosen't really get done over here too much. If it's on the main roads at that time though it's on, I'll guarantee it because of the volume of traffic we have on them.
No, an engine. Go to dumfriesfire dot com and look for apparatus then go to station 17 and click on engine 517 that's which one it was. Truck 503 also responded from our other station. 1st due ambulance was on a call, cleared it when we were pulling onscene and responded.
yeah i realise. in the uk there is a small foot pedal for the passenger to control the whailer.. but is it a regulation to keep the whailer on even if traffic is clear?
It is regulation to use a siren when responding emergency traffic. But, there are cases that some will not use them. Probably the only time that we would not use the siren is at night in a residential area with no traffic.
well i am a volunteer firefighter at a local firefighter, whoever drive the engine or squad (rescue truck) or tanker or brush truck. it is the driver responsiblity to handle the air horn and sirens not the officer or passanger.
It shouldnt even be like that. The driver has enough to worry about. He doesnt need to be on another foot pedal or flipping sirens around. Buckle up! Everyone Goes Home!

the firecar driver not respekt some danger zones. in germany we have to brake in shoolzoons and lower speed in streetcrossings or in case of red lights or pedesrians. no car have to stop for us in case he drive straight with us. onLy to drive by side. in citys by night we use no sIrene, only blue light. twendream is special forces police instrukter! It was a federal holiday, there wasn't school in progress. During the school year the lights come on weither there is school that weekday or not. Everyone over here is supose to pull to the right and stop but, that never happens. Also we run lights and siren to 95% of our calls unless they are for routine service/assist in non emergency situations then we don't. Also the driver has 7+ years experence and a few thousand runs responding under thier belt.
Turns out the person wasn't hit. They were on "mind altering substances" cut themself, wandered into and out of traffic. They got tired and laied down in the middle of the road. The cop wasn't as pissed when we pulled a knife off of him that had a 4-5 inch long blade though.
Go to dumfriesfire dot com and check out our department website. The appratus that was responding to this call was Engine 517 and Truck 503. had to put dot com since it won't post a website address

just because its seperate doesn't mean we don't help each other out. Also depending on the area the only EMS is from the fire service

they are but there are alot less medic units then fire engines and an engine can be at a scene faster then a medic
so it only makes since to have an engine beat the medic
