Well if you read the Book of Enoch its a Book by Jarads Son and Enoch never died in Genisis ch 5. But the book I am talking about explains why the flood had to happen in Noah's day. A difficult question to answer: Where it's appropriate to read the Bible literally, yes, I believe that the angel contacts occurred (such as in the gospels). But in some places, in the Bible, I don't think it's necessarily describing things literally (such as perhaps in Job or in Revelation).

And i for one have never seen an angel though this guy came to my door one time and he had a very unusual light in his face, and both my wife and i said to each other at the same moment...I think that was an angel. look just like a man though with a bright shine or light to their face, that's the only way to describe it. Well that doesn't follow. Just because an angel doesn't tell Mary how she got pregnant wouldn't alter how she acually did. Plus she knew she was a virgin. Jesus clearly knew of his prior divinity from sources other than Mary. God told John the Baptist that Jesus was his son (remember the dove?). So it wouldn't change much except Mary's stress levels.

Jesus is still born of a virgin whether an angel visits Mary or not. She knows she is a virgin, she just didn't know the Holy Spirit was involved.
If the angels weren't at Jesus tomb, Mary Magdalene and the other women would have been more confused for a while. But Jesus later visits her and the other disciples and explains it all. I don't see where the angel is so critical. "Christmas Eve" isn't in the Bible. We don't know if Satan is a fallen angel. He seems too powerful to me for that.

No, they are in the background, interesting in a tantalizing way, but little explanation of where they came from or about them. Many of the greats, King David, Solomon, Peter, Andrew, etc never saw an angel. Angels are minor characters.

What is nature? It was made by something. Things don't exist without the maker. We humans have intelligence but we don't understand a lot of things. If you read the bible, it does not say humans and animals on earth are the only creatures. I do understand if you don't believe in Christian God but I can't understand anyone thinks God does not exist.

Dare you to try this--for 48 hours act and think like there is no god--don't go to church--don't pray--look at money and say why should I trust god and so on. You will find that you are perfectly OK after that time--it's easy. What about me--I was raised catholic-- been there done that.

I know it's hard to believe but, I don't believe some thinking entity made the universe. I think we are here as a result of some natural process. Some scientists think there may be billions of universes like ours. It's a very easy conclusion for me--when I realized it, it was a tremendous experience-much like christians describe finding god and all that. Think of it this way; there were many worlds existing before ours--ours was not the first or the last.

Hummm--I do not think god exists--I know no one is counting my sins and all that. I think we got here by some natural phenomenum which we will prove some day. I also, believe there are no angels fallen or otherwise. I wish you no harm; but an atheist like myself can see clearly that there is no god and the things christians say seem silly--preposterous etc. Example: fallen angels sounds so off the cuff--good angels bad angles-like good guys bad guys-can't you see that's just make believe?

I considered following the buddist faith, but that has penis worshiping as well so naw, but their are a couple of peaceful religions such as deism/mother god, but I really don't need a imaginary friend to make my life great so I will stick to atheism. the truth is none of us, know what comes after death. maybe just maybe we should stop trying to figure it out, and enjoy life, while we have it. thanks for sharing, peace sisters, and brothers! ♥

very interesting video...I believe if there ARE angels..they are all one and the same..no matter what religion u profess to be...humans have to put their own spin on things and also tend to place human attributes on spiritual beings...thus...sex...armies...physical characteristics, emotions...and spiritual beings ARNT human! We tend to do this with God as well and when OUR interpretation doesnt agree with anothers a new denomitaion is born!

it stuck me watching this video, why weren't the 10 commandments made on some unknown material like carbon fiber rather than stone? It's always a known material. It would be much more convincing if it wasn't an already known material. Same with joseph smith's golden plates (which he couldn't produce anyway because that much gold was not in his financial means).

Good Point. And i for one have never seen an angel though this guy came to my door one time and he had a very unusual light in his face, and both my wife and i said to each other at the same moment...I think that was an angel. look just like a man though with a bright shine or light to their face, that's the only way to describe it. I have seen demons though, and if they exist and i personally know they do...then God exists also!

The term "angels" just means messenger. Actually angels are not necessarily males, they may be sexless. Matthew 22:30
You are right that most of our ideas about angels appearance are not from the Bible.
God appeared directly in many other ways. The Burning Bush. Moses directly received the 10 commandments. Enoch walked with God. Adam and Eve too. God led Israel out of Eygpt with a fiery cloud. Jesus son came to earth. So your whole conclusion is wrong. God talked to John the Baptist.

Yes.. some were sexless.. eunuch, probably. But he does have a point about angles. If angels didn't exist, then moses would be lying and you couldn't trust his visions after after he stood next to a burning opium bush. The same would be true of any witness that claimed to see angels. Adam and eve story falls apart too because it was a story written by someone claiming of angels as well.

Take a bible and a marker and start deleting angel references and resulting incidents, say angel telling Mary she's pregnant--this then means she got pregnant the usual way--which then means that jesus is not god's son. So now he's a regular guy who could not have made miracles--easter, angels moved the stone, blah, blah. Take care

Well that doesn't follow. Just because an angel doesn't tell Mary how she got pregnant wouldn't alter how she acually did. Plus she knew she was a virgin. Jesus clearly knew of his prior divinity from sources other than Mary. God told John the Baptist that Jesus was his son (remember the dove?). So it wouldn't change much except Mary's stress levels.

That's silly. You could as easily go the path of saying take a bible and a marker and start deleting references to donkeys and the resulting incidents, and Jesus never gets to Jerusalem to be crucified and lives to a ripe old age (remember he rode on donkeys to get there). So change your title to the Donkey Conundrum and you will have an even better story.

In some of his books he makes it sound like he believes Jesus likely existed. Maybe that is the same as the "could have been" camp you mean. Obviously, the "sure of" camp probably doesn't exist at all.

I don't know enough about Muslims to know what they say about angels. I think there is some hard evidence that Joseph Smith was not truthful in his writings. We visited Utah more than a decade ago and I was more familiar with his problems then than I could recite now.

I guess you were absent the day they said, the reason we know Jesus is god's son is because he was born from a virgin. How can it be a proof one day and not the next. How about those angels that appeared on christmas eve-singing and all that--How about those angels at jesus tomb-- how about satan he's gone, too. Better get a big marker you have lots of work to do. Maybe Lot's wife wasn't turned to stone--maybe Lot was stoned.

Jesus is still born of a virgin whether an angel visits Mary or not. She knows she is a virgin, she just didn't know the Holy Spirit was involved.
If the angels weren't at Jesus tomb, Mary Magdalene and the other women would have been more confused for a while. But Jesus later visits her and the other disciples and explains it all. I don't see where the angel is so critical. "Christmas Eve" isn't in the Bible. We don't know if Satan is a fallen angel. He seems too powerful to me for that.

Nothing is needed. Many things are useful. Even donkeys. The direct interactions between God and man tend to be stressful here on Earth. Moses sure semed intimidated. Why would it not be for our own human convenience to have a messenger that is more like us and not so scary as confronting the Creator of the universe. I bet Mary and others appreciate it.

Despite 291 references, angels are pretty peripheral to the main action in the Bible. If they were to impress the masses, they should be more prominent. Maybe fight the Romans when they try to take Jesus or teach him a bunch of fancy stuff like Merlin did Arthur. No, they are in the background, interesting in a tantalizing way, but little explanation of where they came from or about them. Many of the greats, King David, Solomon, Peter, Andrew, etc never saw an angel. Angels are minor characters.
