Crows are ridiculously intelligent birds. In high-pop cities, they've been known to hold nuts over traffic lights, wait for the light to turn green, drop the nuts into oncoming traffic so the shells are crushed by moving cars, and then eat the meat inside. That..takes considerable problem-solving logic skills.
I read about this crow. Her name is Betty. She wasn't trained or anything...on her own initiative she used a hole in the wall to bend a piece of wire that she would use as a hook to get her food out. This proves that some animal species are capable not only of tool use, but also of tool making.
WTF...did he just bend that stick ? :O

If it's not trained, then wow...If it's trained then, good job to the crow. And that looks like a clean crow, cute too.

food in the basket is enough. i once put my food into my rucksack, but didn't close it when at the beach.
when i came back i found out the crows had pulled the food out of the rucksack, and opened the box and eaten the food...

1) was it trained
2) if not, what incentive is there for it to take the bucket out?

It's not trained at all, they did the same test with multiple captured wild birds.
And there's some food in the little basket.
