I got news for all of you Yankee Fans. Fenway Park will be 100 years old next year, and I guarantee you that it will STILL be there for another 300 years in the City of Boston. Meanwhile, "The House That Ruth Built" is just a thing in the past.
There is no way that you can call the new Yankee Stadium "The House That Ruth Built".
Coming from a Red Sox Fan, now that "The Boss" is dead, I really don't care anymore about what the Yankees do anymore, meaning Steinbrenner's Kids. I only hope that The Bambino will curse the Yankees from now until eternity for taking down his home. There is no way that you call the new Yankee Stadium "The House That Ruth Built".
The Boss will never be forgotten in Boston! Without him, there would not be a Red Sox-Yankees Rivalry today. The Man who brought the Yankees out of the toilet.
I was happy I could watch a game in that stadium in it's final year. Although they did lose to the Rangers that day. D=
I wish they didn't tear it down though. Really no point. They could have made an amazing museum out of that building. It would help generate a few more jobs and money to the community and the organization besides just the main games. It would also help during the off season if they kept it all year round.
To BRONXNYE206st. No disrespect to mets fans but Shea stadium was one of the ugliest parks in baseball. It was the most boring and bland of the 1970's cookie cutter ballparks. They had a blank canvas from foul pole to foul pole. (bullpens, black backdrop, scoreborad (bigest of its kind when built) bleachers and a tophat w/ an apple in it! BORING! they could have done something like kansas city royals did. CITIFIELD is the best thing to happen to mets fans since Endy Chavez made THAT catch in 06
to start. I'm a YANKEE FAN! This is very painful to watch... I get that... more so for the memories of going there with my pops and friends over the years. Driving threw hours of traffic (coming in from L.I.) Dealing with the F'ing Cross Bronx Exwy!!! AHH but when you finally got to your seat you were truley in baseball heaven! All that said. A new stadium was a must. That old building was sitting on a 85 yr old foundation! A new can of paint wasn't gonna save that place. RIP old friend.
this blows how do you destroy history just like that all tha for a stadium that is not even 200ft away this is Bull shit i dont care what people say but some of the best players played there now its gone
Crying about this aint gonna make no difference. Why not fantasize about having Bloomberg and all the other approving cunts tied to poles under this at about 1:04. Yeah, now I'm loving it. Just came.
Im a Mets fan and I think it sucks that the Yankees didnt renovate the old place. So much history there all gone now. I think it is very wrong. The Mets should have renovated Shea Stadium also I feel sad to see these great parks with so much history go away.
I hate to say it but i agree with redsoxshamrocks fenway is older then the old yankee stadium but its still one of the best parks ever steinbrenner shouldve renovated the old yankee stadium
I'm a die-hard Red Sox fan, but I think it's terrible that the Steinbrenners turned their back on history. Hey assholes, why didn't you take that $1.2 billion and spend it on improving The House that Ruth Built, like the current Red Sox owners did to Fenway? Oh right, cause you're greedy assholes and wanted to make a quick buck off $2,500/per game seats.
That's bull. This wasn't the House that Ruth built. It hasn't been since the early 70's. I was all for the new field. (Really Yankee Stadium 3) Plus it didn't hurt that the Yanks opened it up by winning a world series. Get ready for another 86 years of Red Sox choking.
That, and the fact that it would cost more to fix up Old YS than to build a New YS. At least there's no corporate name like "Nathan's Hot Dog Stadium".
@moonodude17 the original yankee stadium was renovated in 1976....that was never the original yankee stadium anyway, stop acting like the new yankee stadium is the yankees' second stadium....before there was yankee stadium, the yankees first home was AMERICAN LEAGUE PARK ok?? go that???
@redsoxshamrocks you people really love comparing your cursed choking franchise to the mighty yankees....Jesus Christ...don't you guys ever quit comparing your team to the yankees?? hahahahaah oh Lord.....by the way, fenway park is a bandbox and it doesn't really not a quote unquote stadium so you guys really need a regular state of the art STADIUM.
@redsoxshamrocks You're a fucking douchebag...look at the books and you'll see where the Steinbrenner's money goes....to the team and to the kids around the country who don't have places to play baseball. George and his family give back more than any owner period.
@redsoxshamrocks I can't tell you how much I agree. I will NEVER set foot in the new corporate dump. And I was a Yankee fan since birth (the 70's) until this 2009. Heartbreaking.
That's an amazing shot of the last tier coming down. I was just thinking what it would be like to be sitting up there observing the rest of the stadium when boom, there it went. It's kind of sad that a building with that sort of history is gone. But I suppose that's progress.
No julian, FUCK your faggot ass red sox, you guys are gay, massachussetts is a gay state, boston is a gay small city, this is where fags hang out and fuck each other's asses...fenway park is a small gay park where fags fuck each other and eat each other's cums you dumbfuck
Its only a stadium. Just remember tearing it down can never erase the memories. Hated to see the old municiple stadium go here in Cleveland years ago, but the change was great, and both new baseball and football stadiums are beautiful and updated. Check out the history of consecutive sellouts on Jacobs field when it opened. That translated to a few great teams that maded it to the worlds series. Now, yeah, were still waiting on the Browns, hope thats coming next with all the changes made.

I find this sad, and this coming from a Red Sox fan. To me, this is like tearing down Fenway Park just because they got a new stadium. After all, that stadium did have a lot of history.

@chillaxer1993 Fenway is always being refurbished. In fact, it is true history for the MLB as it is the oldest ballpark still in operation. Not only that but it just has one more year and a few months until it's centennial, which I think makes it a national landmark (not sure on that). I honestly think they will never tear it down as it is a part of Boston itself.
