  • i seen vitus back in the day and even did a couple of shows with them , there heavier than sab in the 70's verison , except durning the born again tour. and i seen sabbath 13 times myself , still vitus is heavier

  • I would've seen Vitus at their prime. Heck, I'd be happy see them period!

  • this show is available on dvd now from shadow kingdom records. I assume they contacted you for the master tapes, downtownlive?

  • @blacksdocrack

    nope

If they're selling it,they are selling shitty youtube quality.

  • Fucking incredible vocalist.

  • Muito do caralho!!!

  • May I just say, imagine with Scott Reagers and not Dio got to be the vocalist for Black Sabbath...That would have been just so fucking awesome!

  • @crowbarftw Oh that woulda been so fucking cool!

  • BLACK FLAG :)

  • i am in love

  • gotta love these Black Flag tshirts

  • you can still get em off the internet lol i got one a few months ago exactly the same as reagers has in this one

  • greg ginn knows good music when he hears it. sabbath was his favorite band anyway

  • @snubbs741 Ginn liked Sabbath, but his favorite band was the Grateful Dead; he claimed to have seen them over 75 times. If you listen to the stuff Ginn is doing now (Jambang and the Taylor, Texas Corrugators), the Dead influence is readily apparent, but you'd be hard pressed to hear any Sabbath in there. On another note, Saint Vitus doesn't sound that much like Sabbath in my opinion. They definitely have a Sabbath influence, but I'd say Vitus is darker and heavier than Sabbath.

  • @ptolemny oh i heard it was Sabbath, but I think what I read meant they were the biggest influence on Black Flag.. yeah I would expect his new shit to be different. Ginn's a musician that can't really play the same shit over and over again which sets him apart from the punk crowd

  • @ptolemny Oh yeah and I didn't mean that Vitus sounds like Sabbath, I meant Ginn has good taste for "discovering" them or whatever and I meant it's expected since (i thought) his favorite band was Sabbath.

    peace

  • @ptolemny Sabbath was probably Vitus biggest influence collectively I suppose, but Dave Chandler was heavily into 70's Judas Priest and Scorpions, and Mark Adams was big into Skynyrd and early ZZ Top and the southern rock thing, not to mention the fact they loved Black Flag, and The Stooges, so I guess they were never going to be your typical Sabbath copyists.

  • is it just me or does scott reagers sound british

  • ya maybe, 'cause they're reminding me of Iron Claw somehow

  • hes not british at all actually, hes german/irish. he is actually my uncle, beleive it or not he just at my house yesterday~

  • thats fucking awesome.

  • nice killer groovy fucking riffs... \m/

  • No way dude, you have the world's best uncle. Hope he is well! He should know that he has tons of fans worldwide. :)

  • this is great footage of this era SV. Scott sounds great.

  • This is truth. On April 8th 1982,Vitus opened the show for SST Overkill, and The Stepmothers. Some punks came up and told me "I hope you guys don't play like this." I told him him, "You'll be surprised." As soon as we started our set the headbangers were in front of the stage, and the punks were fighting, and slam dancing in the middle of the floor. Great show, I never saw so many fights.

  • one word: masterpiece!

  • for fuckin sure!

  • Amen. Its a very short stretch from the sonic roar of Black Flag to Saint Vitus. And I must say, having seen Vitus several times, most of the audience WAS into them. Even at that time only the most close minded people couldn't appreciate what they were trying to do.

  • Fuckin' killer!!

  • Its all about the riff!

  • What was the exact order of the songs at this show?

  • SO FUCKING GODLY

  • fuck man he's got a good live voice

  • Damn, Vitus was amazing. You can see why Black Flag had them open for them even though (or perhaps because) it drove the little punkers insane. This music is every bit as loud and intense as the Flag was back in the day. Truly fantastic stuff, thanks for posting.

  • Man, Vitus ruled. As much as it pissed the little punkers off in the day, you can see why Black Flag had Saint Vitus open for them. They were heavy, loud, and intense, just like the Flag was. This is outstanding.

  • Vitus at the Embassy? No fucking way! Man I was born much too late for this.

  • did reagers ever go solo ? if he did were can i find his tunes?

  • This is amazing quality for live, especially his voice - which makes it really.

  • I do agree, priceless footage. The sound is taken straight from the soundboard, that's why it's so clean.

  • yep, Reagers was the best singer.

Does somebody know what he does these days?

  • good sir, this footage right here, is pure gold, it's a rare gem. thank you!

  • this is great! you should post more of these if you have them. I love the Reagers era!
