Hi this is Raquel I live in Puerto Rico I was reading about the person which bought the innovation knitting machine from fingerhut about sending it back well I just got my machine about a few days ago it took about two months to get it was in back order. But I was trying to cast on but when I place the yarn inside the the machine when I crank it the machine sound like it is stuck but no yarn is being feed wrong. Do think I should call fingerhut and notify this to them to get another one.
I bought one from FingerHut..... the switch doesn't work.... so i have to send it back....but i did get to make tubular knitting, on it...and i love it! Cannot wait to get my replacement. I have tons of yarn... and can use it up, quickly. with this.
I found an old knitting machine when I was going through my grandmothers stuff. I love it and I haven't stopped using it. It makes a much smaller tube, and the cutest little scarfs and fingerless gloves.
I am going to buy this no matter what! Even though the back order is till next month!!!!!!! I think it will be much worth the wait, i hope i like it! Thanks Innovations!

interesting machine.. but it really does take away the pride of hand knitting. this isn't even knitting anymore, it's just a machine doing everything for you. but if you don't mind losing your pride over it, might as well use it haha

I'm not even sure these are still being manufactured. But I googled "Innovations Knitting Machine Canada" and came up with quite a few matches. That would probably be a good place to start. Sorry I don't have more info to help you.
uuhhh,if you've never sold or had to knit about a dozen scarfs and a handfull of beanies in impossible time, lets say a week or two, then you dont know what your talking about
this is just taking the grunt work out of it,the constant, incessant, rows of the same old knit stitch
im sure it cant bind of or even do different patterns,so the maker would HAVE to know how to do those
this isn't for lazy people...i've wanted one ever since i started selling my knitwear. it takes at least two days for me to knit a hat and scarf set cause of my schedule (internship) this would help me get my pieces out faster. and i'd be able to knit even more items than just accessories...
@whereztati Hence the word "advantage" as in "Take advantage". I'm a fashion designer and this thing would be great to produce some knitwear fast. I have no interest in sitting around like an old person with 2 needles and taking weeks to make a sweater. With this I can knit a bunch of squares and sew them together and make all sorts of cool shit.
Unfortunately the only place I been able to find one is through Fingerhut, and the cost of shipping this item was $13.00+ for a $49.99 item. Bethinkx you were fortunate to find it at $15.00. HSN no longer sells this item.
I do very intricate and time consuming Irish lace crochet, sometimes I work with SEWING THREAD- I also make tatted lace with a shuttle, I do a lot of hand knitting, as well as machine knitting on my Bond Ultimate Sweater Machine. I also have a circular crank knitting machine like this, and I find that working with automatic knitters offers a welcome relief from intense needlework, while at the same time allowing me to remain productive. Stop being so snobby about hand knitting !
I just picked one up at Hobby Lobby on clearance for $15.00!! It must have been a display, return or teaching model because there was knitting on it when I took it out of the box. No. I'm not a cheater or lazy... I make hats for charity and I can make so many more using this machine.
I think this is a great idea! I use to have a scarf/hat business when I was in high school to make a couple extra bucks on the side and I was limited by the speed of my fingers. I can knit pretty damn fast with minimal errors, but it gets tiring and ties up your hands for HOURS.
If I could crank out a scarf in an hour... that would be fantastic! Let's compare... 1 scarf in an hour with this mechine.... 1 scarf in a few days/weeks by hand????
I want one of these. All the idiots saying that people are lazy for using things like this, what about people with sore hands, arthritis and stiff joints, like I have after two minutes with my needles. I'm sure knitters in old days would have loved to have save time with this!

this is fuckin retarded .. with this people become lazy . and its not really knitting . this misses the point.. this is sad and dumb

Beautiful projects. They're wonderful. But 'she' is NOT knitting; the machine is knitting. You cannot learn to knit from this nor any machine. Poor selling points. Stick to what the machine can do... not what the user learns. If something teaches you to knit, then you can knit with two needles. This machine fails to do that. Again, lovely projects. Socks made on machines are no less socks, but the machine user did not knit them... they machined the sock. HUGE difference.
excuse me? knitting is not only just to get a scarf or a hat, its a hobby that keeps your hands busy and is super fun and easy. why would you take thefun out of knitting?
People knit for many different reasons, some of the commentators here should be more open minded or tolerant. Also, consider the person who has made hand knit items all of her life but now is unable to do so because of hand or medical issues. This may or may not be the machine to use, but seriously, please don't try to make a person who uses a machine feel like they are doing something wrong.
I bought one and it is not working. it is not working. I knit faster then this machine...
I tried to fix it but so far nothing. and I am wasting time on it. I think I am going to throw it in the garbage cause it is useless. What a waste of money....
How can I resell it? I even bought the kids singer and some other brand knitting machine. Tested them they are all the same. Returned them the next day. These machines are no good at all. They are all fake.
Thank you all for the comments really appreciate this
the joy of knitting is that when your finished you look at your work and are pleased and you realize, hey look at this I did this all by my self how wonderful. A machine does not give the same satisfaction
haha check out the rolling edges on their "flat panel". this machine is a piece of crap. Even when you first learn to knit, you learn that you need to interchange knit and purl stitches in order to get a flat panel.
That's stockinette stitch, which is what a machine does, or which is the natural result of knitting in a tube. You naturally have to make borders or attach it to other pieces to get rid of the curl. That is because the knit stitch and the purl stitch are of different sizes, and always will be. If you knit back and forth (rather than in a circle) and knit every row, you get garter stitch, which does lie flat. You are a beginning knitter, I can tell.
Oh Shut up! ... I can't learn to knit even if I want to! I can't understand the steps, and I can't read or understand patters (dyslexic) ... my mother can and leant by herself with the aid of books and everything...and I so wish ic oukd do that! I have tried so many times and it's just so hard for a person like me...even when i could finnally do it it only lasted like a week,,, I forget and takes me forever ... so I was looking for a machine just to be able to stop bothering my mother!
Personally, I think if you're trying to sell a whole bunch of something and you need them made quick, or you're just trying to get rid of some yarn, that's one thing, but I hope that I don't ever meet someone that says they know how to knit but they just use a machine.
Even the knitting looms are more dignified than this...o.o lol
I agree it's cheating in a way, but it is convenient if you have a section in a shop that sells scarfs/dish clothes and there are people buying these things constantly (for a themselves or a gift to someone). In that case, having a machine is very helpful. But that's my personal opinion. If you want to make something just so someone else can use, go with a machine. If you're giving a gift, (or just making a product with intricate designs) do it by hand. I STILL prefer handmade. :D
To a beginner, you can't begin to imagine how a flat panel or a tube turns into a sweater, I know where the bits would go, but they'd be the wrong shapes, the front of a sweater isn't usually rectangular and the sleeves get smaller as they go down towards the wrists. It would fit a box shaped man perhaps.
The mysteries of the knitting machine remain a mystery to me.
how do you get the yarn into the machine i made a mistake and took the little bit of yarn out that came with the machine and got lost from there ...please help if you can make a vid excellent but if you cant please explain ...my machine had no instructions. im a begginer and need help.
I would rather say " I hand knitted it" besides saying " yeah, I use a macchine that does it". Witch one sounds better? And... Hand knitting is better and funner cuz you and sit on the couch and get all cozy!! But if you are older are something and cant use needles then that is a difrent story lol.
have not bought one yet but with 3 kids, a 5 year odl an almost 3 year old and an 8 month old baby I want ot knit quick hats to keep her head warm in winter and her brother some hats and big sis and I really want to donate hats to charities for needing to knit lots of winter hats etc. or for lots of babies in the NICU a knitting machine would be handy for fast made hats quickly needed to send off. to the poor and needy and sicl.
we have something very similar to this which ate up our Lion Brand Homespun yarn, making only a tangled mess. It seems to only work for certain types and yes it's easy to screw up. Better off learning to knit, for stitches this simple.
This is a good idea. If you want to give a knitted shawl or scarf to a friend and you don't have time to do it in 1 weeks time. Use this machine then you can make a gift quickly. But of course if you knit it in a traditionally way, you can create lots of fancy patterns that machines cannot do it.
I thought of it as "cheating" at first too, but as I got closer to the holidays and had a LOT of knitting to do, I could see the benefits of this machine, even more so when someone contacted me and wanted to me make a 12-foot-long Dr. Who scarf.
We bought this machine and it was a nightmare - it kept dropping stitches and it was impossible to cast off/finish. I got really really frustrated and, in the end, it took all my patience not to boot it out the front door. Knitting with needles is much easier and more rewarding.
As with all KMs, takes lots of tending to and paying attn for startup, finish, specialty stitches. May as well learn to knit, and then do production work with a machine. Get better models that are flatbed on eBay or such. Here, you won't find any talk of harnesses, and they might've at least suggested using a large glass bowl as feeder for the yarn ball. Barbie toy model sells for half, makes 17" also, and lacks the overhead handle this has. Otherwise, identical.
If you go back and listen, the man says, "A thousand stitches per second. I can only do about five hundred, so...!" Now, the woman they bring out to demonstrate it says it correctly, but they do say it as per second first.
What a coincidence. I bought mine last Thursday at Hobby Lobby with the 40% coupon - $39.99 - $16 = $23.99 (before tax). Best money I've spent in a long time.
Some people just get board sitting there knitting the same item for so long. I lead a busy life and it is so cool to be able to make a hat in one afternoon. Yes in a way it is cheating but I get satisfied with my little project and it is fun to wear something I made.
It looks pretty cool, but the reviews say this isn't so. It's hard when you put out money and it doesn't work. I have a Delux knitting machine where I can make larger panels with an extended kit if I want to. But I'll just stick to my Needles, hooks and looms. I'll pass on this one.
Making a flat panel itself is extremely frustrating and customer service isn't very helpful. The instruction manual has incorrect information on how to pick up dropped stitch. It tells you how to do it backwards. If you want to do scarves and small hats this is great, it is way faster then hand knitting even with dropped stitches.
This will knit a really huge tube that would probably be great for leggings, but the sock part is huge. you'd have to sew in the sides to make it a sock, with no heels. Also it constantly drops stitches, if you are patient enough to brave this machine, try using a latch tool or a seed stitcher. For an average adult sweater you'd have to sew two to three panels together to get a decent sweater in an appropriate size.
BUYER BEWARE, this claims to do socks and sweaters but it does NOT. It knits tubes. If you are skilled at knitting or very patient this can create many things but for the average user its frustrating. If you want to knit socks you're better off doing it by hand.
CHEATERS!!! You don't get the same satisfaction as opposed to actually holding 2 needles and doing all the work yourself! There's nothing better then giving a gift you worked on with your own two hands and a lot of time.
Keep in mind that not everyone has the capacity to use their hands in that way. Try kitting the old fashion way with arthritis or other problems. Also, using this machine could get a person interested in knitting with needles. Baby steps, baby steps.
But I can see your point too. You can do much fancier, durable work by hand :) The thing is, some people, like my baby niece, aren't going to be able to see the difference :P Her mom will, but she tried to teach herself how to knit and have up! For now, I think I can cheat... hahaha.
@noodlefreak88 The reviews on this product are very poor. If you stumble with the crank or accidentally turn the wrong away... it drops stitches and it doesn't handle thick yarn either.
I prefer to knit by hand. More textures, Can't do cables on this machine. I remember having something like this when I was MUCH younger..... this is just revamped. But I carry my knitting and crocheting whereever I go. Keeps my hands busy, my mind sharp and I like knowing that I did it by hand and not by machine.
This is a piece of crap I have now owned 2 of them and the stitches are getting hung up bad!!!!!!! It is very frustrating. Can you tell that I am not happy out over $50.00 plus the cost of the yarn 4 days before x-mas and I have to try and come up with another way to create a scarf. Thank you for the opportunity to vent.
I do not own this machine, but a very similar made by Singer in fact made for children and it is so frustrating that I hated it and put it in the corner of the closet for me not to see it anymore and forget about it. The flat panel would be a pain in all your mind and body cause it just throw it away.
this cannot change between knit or purl or do any kind of fancy stitches, for whomever asked. As far as knitting round tubes, the machine can do fairly well at this, but you have to be very good at keeping the tension perfect, or you will get dropped stitches. As far as flat panels, the machine will stop you and start going back the other way, but it's very inconsistent. Many times, I will get extra or dropped stitches at the end of a row. I think the flat-panel capability just isn't there.
You do realize this is available through all Joann Fabric and Crafts stores...minus the shipping charge...and ten bucks less. I LOATH the shopping channels....*thumbs down!!*
I really like this thing...It would great for me to finish commisions fast and easy. I'm an experienced knitter, and I love me some needles, but I can definitly see how this would be handy. :)

Oh Shut up! ... I can't learn to knit even if I want to! I can't understand the steps, and I can't read or understand patters (dyslexic) ... my mother can and leant by herself with the aid of books and everything...and I so wish ic oukd do that! I have tried so many times and it's just so hard for a person like me...even when i could finnally do it it only lasted like a week,,, I forget and takes me forever ... so I was looking for a machine just to be able to stop bothering my mother!
samsaragx 2 years ago 5
"I'm knitting!" ...uh, no, you're cranking. :/
Personally, I think if you're trying to sell a whole bunch of something and you need them made quick, or you're just trying to get rid of some yarn, that's one thing, but I hope that I don't ever meet someone that says they know how to knit but they just use a machine.
Even the knitting looms are more dignified than this...o.o lol

no way thats 1000 stitches per sec. that would be like 100ft. per min
abslisa 2 years ago 2
I agree it's cheating in a way, but it is convenient if you have a section in a shop that sells scarfs/dish clothes and there are people buying these things constantly (for a themselves or a gift to someone). In that case, having a machine is very helpful. But that's my personal opinion. If you want to make something just so someone else can use, go with a machine. If you're giving a gift, (or just making a product with intricate designs) do it by hand. I STILL prefer handmade. :D
CloudPow 2 years ago
To a beginner, you can't begin to imagine how a flat panel or a tube turns into a sweater, I know where the bits would go, but they'd be the wrong shapes, the front of a sweater isn't usually rectangular and the sleeves get smaller as they go down towards the wrists. It would fit a box shaped man perhaps.
The mysteries of the knitting machine remain a mystery to me.
BeetleMama 2 years ago
how do you get the yarn into the machine i made a mistake and took the little bit of yarn out that came with the machine and got lost from there ...please help if you can make a vid excellent but if you cant please explain ...my machine had no instructions. im a begginer and need help.

I would rather say " I hand knitted it" besides saying " yeah, I use a macchine that does it". Witch one sounds better? And... Hand knitting is better and funner cuz you and sit on the couch and get all cozy!! But if you are older are something and cant use needles then that is a difrent story lol.

what ever i hate this machine
shamba8 3 years ago
we have something very similar to this which ate up our Lion Brand Homespun yarn, making only a tangled mess. It seems to only work for certain types and yes it's easy to screw up. Better off learning to knit, for stitches this simple.
zellsbells 3 years ago
this stupid machine makes u so fuckin lazy jusy use your damn hands and do it your self how he hell will u learn that is cheating
shamba8 3 years ago
This is a good idea. If you want to give a knitted shawl or scarf to a friend and you don't have time to do it in 1 weeks time. Use this machine then you can make a gift quickly. But of course if you knit it in a traditionally way, you can create lots of fancy patterns that machines cannot do it.

What does she mean at 5.45 when she says "That is basically a tube pieced together"?
What do you do with a "Tube" other then a scarf or sleeves?
I'm confused at why you would want to make a massive, 44 row tube of knitting?
What would you do with it???
Please, PM me with ideas if you would be so kind!!!

My grandmother told me that if I EVER buy a knitting-machine... She would disown me! ROFL! She thinks it is cheating... But I am intrigued...
RioOhKei 3 years ago
I thought of it as "cheating" at first too, but as I got closer to the holidays and had a LOT of knitting to do, I could see the benefits of this machine, even more so when someone contacted me and wanted to me make a 12-foot-long Dr. Who scarf.
WhoIsCarla 3 years ago 4
what, 1000 stitches a second, rubish!!! Couldnt possibly do that!
passionfruitbuddy 3 years ago
He corrects himself later - 1000 stitches a minute. It really is fast. I just bought one a couple of days ago.
Suebee76 3 years ago
We bought this machine and it was a nightmare - it kept dropping stitches and it was impossible to cast off/finish. I got really really frustrated and, in the end, it took all my patience not to boot it out the front door. Knitting with needles is much easier and more rewarding.
Nemie125 3 years ago
It is an OK machine but they really need to include the additional tools you really neeed for the repair of stitches and doing ribbing.
pepperams 3 years ago 2
As with all KMs, takes lots of tending to and paying attn for startup, finish, specialty stitches. May as well learn to knit, and then do production work with a machine. Get better models that are flatbed on eBay or such. Here, you won't find any talk of harnesses, and they might've at least suggested using a large glass bowl as feeder for the yarn ball. Barbie toy model sells for half, makes 17" also, and lacks the overhead handle this has. Otherwise, identical.

good god 1000 stitches a second

Yeah, I thought that too.

I have this machine. It is fast, but it does not knit 1000 stitches per second.
earthtodaviddotcom 3 years ago
it said 1000 stiches a minute you fuck tard
skij555 3 years ago
If you go back and listen, the man says, "A thousand stitches per second. I can only do about five hundred, so...!" Now, the woman they bring out to demonstrate it says it correctly, but they do say it as per second first.

shamba8 4 years ago
Some people just get board sitting there knitting the same item for so long. I lead a busy life and it is so cool to be able to make a hat in one afternoon. Yes in a way it is cheating but I get satisfied with my little project and it is fun to wear something I made.
truthpersistence 4 years ago
It looks pretty cool, but the reviews say this isn't so. It's hard when you put out money and it doesn't work. I have a Delux knitting machine where I can make larger panels with an extended kit if I want to. But I'll just stick to my Needles, hooks and looms. I'll pass on this one.
WarisitaBoricua 4 years ago
What a crock. The reason they don't show them starting or finishing anything is because you can't. Total ripoff. Garbage.
musiccalgary 4 years ago
Making a flat panel itself is extremely frustrating and customer service isn't very helpful. The instruction manual has incorrect information on how to pick up dropped stitch. It tells you how to do it backwards. If you want to do scarves and small hats this is great, it is way faster then hand knitting even with dropped stitches.
sisterjameela 4 years ago
This will knit a really huge tube that would probably be great for leggings, but the sock part is huge. you'd have to sew in the sides to make it a sock, with no heels. Also it constantly drops stitches, if you are patient enough to brave this machine, try using a latch tool or a seed stitcher. For an average adult sweater you'd have to sew two to three panels together to get a decent sweater in an appropriate size.
sisterjameela 4 years ago
BUYER BEWARE, this claims to do socks and sweaters but it does NOT. It knits tubes. If you are skilled at knitting or very patient this can create many things but for the average user its frustrating. If you want to knit socks you're better off doing it by hand.
sisterjameela 4 years ago
CHEATERS!!! You don't get the same satisfaction as opposed to actually holding 2 needles and doing all the work yourself! There's nothing better then giving a gift you worked on with your own two hands and a lot of time.
noodlefreak88 4 years ago 12
Keep in mind that not everyone has the capacity to use their hands in that way. Try kitting the old fashion way with arthritis or other problems. Also, using this machine could get a person interested in knitting with needles. Baby steps, baby steps.
Suebee76 3 years ago
Right..sorry, I forgot about that stuff, and I could see that one may get into knitting by owning one of these, yeah baby steps.
noodlefreak88 3 years ago
But I can see your point too. You can do much fancier, durable work by hand :) The thing is, some people, like my baby niece, aren't going to be able to see the difference :P Her mom will, but she tried to teach herself how to knit and have up! For now, I think I can cheat... hahaha.
Suebee76 3 years ago
@noodlefreak88 The reviews on this product are very poor. If you stumble with the crank or accidentally turn the wrong away... it drops stitches and it doesn't handle thick yarn either.

I prefer to knit by hand. More textures, Can't do cables on this machine. I remember having something like this when I was MUCH younger..... this is just revamped. But I carry my knitting and crocheting whereever I go. Keeps my hands busy, my mind sharp and I like knowing that I did it by hand and not by machine.
ChefRondaE 4 years ago 3
This is a piece of crap I have now owned 2 of them and the stitches are getting hung up bad!!!!!!! It is very frustrating. Can you tell that I am not happy out over $50.00 plus the cost of the yarn 4 days before x-mas and I have to try and come up with another way to create a scarf. Thank you for the opportunity to vent.
star5711 4 years ago
I do not own this machine, but a very similar made by Singer in fact made for children and it is so frustrating that I hated it and put it in the corner of the closet for me not to see it anymore and forget about it. The flat panel would be a pain in all your mind and body cause it just throw it away.
mariat299 4 years ago
this cannot change between knit or purl or do any kind of fancy stitches, for whomever asked. I think the flat-panel capability just isn't there.
mikaselm 4 years ago
I disagree. If you chrank at a constant rate and make sure you have slack at the end of your line, it does just fine.

A child can knit with needles, too. It's just a matter of teaching them. I learned to knit when I was six.
