@wapitiman100 454 not that good of a motor unless it's the ls6 that was in the 70 chevelle or it's stroked. It's a low compression motor. Chances are they aren't tapping the potential of the motor they are going for longevity that 454, this 383 will last for years and will never have to be torn down. But you what to know the truth. MY cousin have built a 496 stroker out of a 454 procharged it in a 71 stingray. Got 2633 hp on the dyno. he wanted to push it more but didn't want

when you order engine BLOCKS they come with heads (long BLOCK) or with out heads (Short BLOCK) doesn't matter what Accessories you want with it (intake, carb. , ignition and style of water pump) are all extra = Accessories.... and as far as a big block 350 gm did make a big block 350 known as the 350 rocket installed in Buick and Oldsmobile but it is differnt style then any chevy gm engines......

No, you still don't get it.

A long block can be ANY engine, a long block means it's a full rotating motor minus intake carb, accessories... Long block is the block, rotating assy and heads, nothing else.

Blocks do not dictate cubic inch, it has to do with stroke, a 383 is a 302,327,350 4.0" bore but with another .25" (almost .025") on the stroke, instead of a 350 3.48" stroke, it's a 3.75" stroke

IT'S A SMALL BLOCK, COMPLETE, NOT JUST A LONG BLOCK, IT WOULDN'T RUN IF IT WERE A LONG BLOCK. A 383, as I said earlier is a 4.000" block, likely bored over if the cylinders need it, but with a 400 SMALL BLOCK 3.75" stroke crank, hence stroker. 302, 327, 350 all used the same bore spacing blocks....

look at the casting number on the block. should be able to decode it online. likely wont give you an exact year. especially if its a 010 block. thats the last 3 digits. they made thousands of them
