But try putting emotion into your voice over. Seemed a bit rushed. Kinda reminded me of the Thanksgiving trailer by Eli Roth from the Grindhouse double feature. ^^
This is pretty impressive. All I can suggest is maybe a little more work on the narrative. Not the voice, just the sound quality of it. The action over shadowed the sound of it and I could hear the popping. Other than that small from-the-couch criticism, this was pretty excellent.
If I had to give criticism, the guy supposed to be Gordon talks too fast. A little more emphasis and hesitation in his pacing gives a more realistic and dramatic feel
@joker9494949494 this is exactly like year one. i own it. just read it. and went frame by frame to make sure i wasnt missing something. the narrative is the exact same as the comic and the images are near identical to the stills.
Moviestim I have had Batman year one since I was about 8 years old. it is my favourite graphic novel of all time and you guys could do it justice. I loved it!
@SNAKEEYESSAM Obviously you don't even know what Batman Year One is and didn't bother to do any research before leaving your ignorant comment. I'll wager you don't even read comics.

don't listen to the negativity tim... this is effective work (well maybe an effective exercise is a better way to put it). definitely well done though.
The language of Comics and Film are two different things. To do a movie that re-creates panel to panel and translate it to the screen doesn’t translate well and doesn’t make sense. What makes a comic to movie really effective is to catch the spirit and essence of the book. The piece looks very nice, but I’d rather see you create your own interpretation from how you felt about the story and translate that to your own style of film.
@vargavision I'm glad they didn't take the story and bastardize it. Faithful adaptions of the comics can translate well. The Sin City film is proof of that. Faithfulness to the source material is showing respect to the books, the author, illustrator and it's entertaining to fans to get to see the comics we love come alive on film. Comics are not so different. Comics have characters narration in text to read, film has characters narration in voice over to hear. Comics are also a visual medium.
@thecooooolcat It was faithfulness to the VISUAL aspect of the film, but not the essence of the story that counts a lot more than the visual. As I've said before the languages are very different. Sin City was a very good Noir piece, but it was like every other Pulp novel of that genre. Christopher Nolan is an example of what was the essence of Batman is, as opposed to him copying the visual style of Frank Miller or say Neal Adams and Roy Thomas (who virtually re-created Batman in the 70's)
@vargavision This fan made film is faithful to the portions of the Batman: Year One story it adapted. It captures the look, the essence, good job. Chris Nolan's Batman films are not an adaption of any one Batman comic, they have been somewhat influenced by Batman: Year One, but are not really adaptions of that comic, thus Batman Begins was not titled Batman: Year One, etc. It was Neal Adams and Denny O'Neil who restored Batman as a dark creature of the night in the '70s comics, not Roy Thomas.
To @TheBatOfHearts that's not a Sin City style monologue but a Frank Miller style of writing. Miller wrote both books. I always find it funny when people reference other works without knowing all the facts.
Belive it or not Free energy is real,But some very powerfull ppl don't want you and me to be free from energy costs,if you want a real Free energy Magnet Motor, get the blueprints at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Start the energy revolution!
I am huge fan of Frank Miller's work and you really captured the spirit, here. My only criticism is that some of the narration in the first scene gets lost over the sound effects. Nevertheless, this was really, really fun to watch and I only hope you do more. You really seem to have a talent for this.
@jjstudio The comic this was taken from, and Sin city were both written by frank miller, so the tone and feel are quite the same. dont'cha feel like an asshole for critiquing now?
@jjstudio Frank Miller wrote Sin City and Batman Year One. Miller's style of prose permeate all his works. So it was a reenactment of the first two scenes of Batman Year One (not of Sin City). Bottom line you have to read more comics.
@jjstudio You can apply your same critique to most of Frank Miller's work. You know, Miller who wrote & drew YEAR ONE, THE DARK KNIGHT & 300; same man who wrote, drew & directed SIN CITY.
Many critics have already trashed Miller's constant re-hashing of character types and silhouette images in his graphic novels and films. So, it's kinda obvious that Miller's style would be re-enacted by amateurs & pros eventually, such as moviestim.
I think moviestim did Miller's style quite well, here. +

Frank Miller helped write the 80's rebirth of the Batman story. You know the Comic books.... Year One being the first. He wrote more that just Sin city.
Should've done the scene where Gordon's fighting Flass. Or better, the one where Batman takes out several police units (and punches a guy through a wall)! Good job thoughh-no, wait--EXCELLENT JOB!
Reminds me of Sin City (speaking of practically frame-for-frame adaptations of Frank Miller). Even in Sin City though they pared down the narration and dialogue so it wouldn't sound rushed, as though trying to keep up with the image
I think the voiceover is really good. It's hard to make narration sound natural, so I am really impressed. It does sound a little too condensed though.
