Awe. George is awesome. He's so genuinely sad. I would be mad too if I was there, but then again I wouldn't be booing them because they're too awesome for that. These things happen though. A few people have died by being crushed by barriers because of stage rushes. Crazy.
While I do feel bad for the people who drove a long ways and waited hours in line just to see this show had to miss it, you can't blame the band. A. It most likely wasn't even the band's decision, even if they wanted to keep playing, they wouldnt let them. and B. It's the crowd's own fault.. How about you don't break the barriers? Anyone with brains knows that hearing a couple songs from a band isn't worth a couple people's lives.
Fucking stupid fans, what a bunch of dick munchers it shows how arrogant and childish some canadians are, have some respect, to the bag of dicks who were yelling fuck you's and bullshit, you guys didn't have to pay shit so quit fucking dicking around, besides, its the fucken crowd's fault anyways for destroying the shit.
@PaintballRush222 Apparently you weren't there, i was. I was in the Mush, we surged 30 feet, quiet a few people started yelling out link arms, talking to them, they wanted to make a human barrier so they could play. Respect the band, they told us to shut the fuck up. Come on, they had 8500 fired up fans who got denied, yea we were pissed off, wouldn't you? waited for them, in line, and around, just to be sent home.
@PaintballRush222 its no problem man, its one of those you had to be there in order to understand the crowd and stuff. Personally i can see where your coming from, not being there and everything, I would of been the same way, but looking back at it, we should of been alittle more understanding, like 3/4 of the people there didn't know people got hurt.
Wow I wish I was there to punch those stupid booing fuckers right in the teeth. What the hell do you expect them to do? A 5 year old would understand the situation... do something bad, face the consequences, it's simple.
@shaunathinshavis I'm right here. and there was 8500 of us booing. So shut up, if you were at the show you'd understand. I was part of the mush pit that probably broke the barrier, me and like 400+ people.
All those people were there to see the show and you and a bunch of other assholes had to go and ruin it for them.
And it's not like I've never been to an Alexis show... and guess what... the barriers never broke at any of them. There's a way to have fun and not be a total asshole to the people around you.
@shaunathinshavis I was in the back of the Mush, i didnt know until the band stopped playing. Yea i can imagine that the barriers never broke at their concerts, thats probably because they were built better And yea it does suck that 11 people got hurt and around half of them went to the hospital Everyone around me and myself felt bad that they got hurt But your at a concert with people who would mush hard to Daniel Wesley, so what do you think would happen? i went there planning on getting hurt.
While you might have gone to that concert planning on getting hurt, almost everybody else went to just listen to the band play live and have fun. What you and everyone else in the mosh pit did was ruin their experience. And booing the band for being concerned about those people and making the correct decision to stop playing was not cool, because it was your actions (as well as everyone else going way too hard in the mosh pit) that led to it.
@shaunathinshavis most of the crowd was mushing just before it broke, most people were there to have a good time and mush. Everyone didn't except to get by the barrier, but by mushing. See the difference? If we knew the barrier couldn't handle what was going to happen, it wouldn't of gotten so intense.
Yeah I realize that no one could have known the barrier would break.
I'm just saying that the crowd could have respected the situation and the band's decision a little better. That being said I do know the excitement that comes with their concerts and things could get a little carried away, especially at a concert during the Olympics. I can see where you're coming from, I'm just saying a little more tact and understanding from the crowd would have been better.
Ppl were starting to get mad, not @ the band but at the situation. They should've made sure the barriers were strong enough before hand.
The security&AOF handled the situation very well, it's too bad the crowd wasn't cooperating. Probably 'cause alot of us waited hours in line to see them. Poor George&Wade! They were so worried!
I hope AOF comes back soon despite the crowd being kinda inconsiderate! I wanna see more than 30secs of a song even if it's not a free show! ;D
haha i was there. Trust me after getting stoked to see alexisonfire for FREE, waiting in line for hours in tight cramped quarters you would be pretty fuckin pissed too. Not booing them, booing the fact that we didn't see a show. So chill the fuck out everyone.
Come on motherfuckers, really, how dare ya to yell "bullshit" and "boo", ppl got SERIOUSLY injured?! Do you think the band wanted this, and declined the show for NOTHING?! > No Way!!
One girls head was getting stomped on and apparently another girls femer was sticking out of her leg. If people wanna bitch at a real concert that cost them lots of money then fine..but its a free concert FFS, its their own fault for knocking the barrier over.. you didnt think they were just going to go "oh yah nice lets have this concert get completely outta control and have ppl in the hospital for weeks (clapping)"
i cant believe people are actually going to be this pissed off about a FREE concert getting cancelled. You yourselves, all the angry people who went to the concert that night are the reason it was canelled, so blame it on yourselves cause what the fuck did the band do wrong? not a thing, be a canadian and show some respect, SHIT HAPPENS
3 things, i think. 1) I gaurantee that the badn members weren't the ones who made that decision 2) People are dicks in large numbers 3) Alexisonfire still sucks flaming hairy balls, but they should have still played, thats just dumb.
well dudes, don't push the fucking barrier. end of story. you hurt people, things get dangerous, shut it down. its the logical thing. and dude, the people, the SECURITY and the logic of the staff and alexisonfire, are such wankers for making the venue safe and prevent further injuries. yes they are such assholes for caring about the safety of others and trying to make up for the dates. shut your mouth you selfish assholes.
@hockeybuf123 It was anyones game in that situation. I was just a couple rows from the stage and I was in the pile of people that were on the broken barrier. The band, security and parameds are straight up heroes for getting it under control. It's more disgraceful that you get this douchefags in the audience hating on the band because people got seriously injured.
Poor George. I've met him a couple of times and he's such a nice guy, Too nice to have people yelling "bullshit" at him over something he had no control over.
Yeah well people who planned their day around that show traveled for hours and wait in line for an hour n a half it wa bullshit that they weren't prepared. But oh well gotta knock some kids around
It's too bad that the small amount of drunken idiots and people pushing around had to ruin the show for everyone else. And "bullshit"? What the hell are they talking about?...It was a free fucking show in the first place. So I don't think that anyone should have the right to be pissed off other than the people who got pushed into the barrier and injured.
But it definitely would suck for the people who were there to just listen to some music and hear them play. Understandable. But some people just need to learn to calm down and have fun at concerts without being idiots.
I was there, I respect their decision to stop, apparently there were 19 people injured and 10 had to go to the hospital, I had the right to be pissed off though since I waited in line for 2 hours to get in... I do feel bad for them though since they were pretty much booed offstage...
I was waiting for over five hours to see AOF, and got to hear ten seconds of Drunks, Lovers, Sinners, and Saints. They did the right thing, but I have a right to be pissed off.
Haha enjoy these 2 weeks because you'll be paying off the olympics for 50+ years. I can't wait to see the reactions of BC residents when they see random tax hikes. LOL SHIT PROVINCE!
I was there. The "bullshit" chants were limited to a few idiots near the front. From what I saw, the rest of the crowd was pretty respectful. A girl had been trampled in the middle of the crowd and there were dozens of people who immediately went to her aid and tried to get help. I was disappointed after waiting in line for over an hour, but in retrospect the band absolutely did the right thing and should be commended. There's no way you can go on with the show and risk further injuries.

id just like to say something about the description of this video. it says that alexisonfire is a canadian "hardcore" band. that is simply not the truth im sorry. hardcore bands arent a bunch of pussies and they play hardcore music and dallas green singing for a bunch of teenage girls is not hardcore music. just thought id let the rest of you guys know so you dont get confused with real hardcore... thanks
@Kruger. Your a fucking dumbass... Really. The fact that alexisonfire cares about their fans is so amazing. I respect them so much more as individual people. Go fuck youself loser....
REALLY? because I GAINED tonnes of respect for them. The fact that the safety of their fans is more important than putting on a free show shows they have their priorities straight! Several fans went to hospital because of what happened, and if they were to ignore that fact and continue with the show would have been disrespectful.
Doing the right thing, is "not calling your band hardcore" if you're in fact a bunch of "middle of the road Canadian preppies".
Any disrespect shown is no doubt for that reason. Can't imagine disrespecting Celine Dion for doing exactly the same thing. But I've seen Japanese girl bands that were harder than these guys.
Yeah, because Alexisonfire are such dicks for acting responsibly and trying to avoid some of their fans becoming even more seriously injured than they were, at a FREE concert. Such assholes, eh?
The dumbasses chanting bullshit need to learn some god damn respect! People are hurt because of the idiotic mob mentality and they need to respect the wishes of the band and know that the safety of their fans come first!
I was there, in the crowd were Germans, French, Canadians, Americans....mostly Canadians, but the people who were booing were these tools that were stoned and drunk screaming for attention...bad is still better than no attention from their perspective. But anyway, there were only a small group of them inspite of what you could hear on this video. Like 5 (FIVE). Like I said, I left because these dudes were trying to act large and talking trash before. I have better things to do with my time.
reality is its not alexisonfires call. security and management would not allow a show to go on if a huge show like this got out of hand. they are just the messangers of the bad news.
Actually they called it off themselves when advised of the dangers on the ground. It was everybody´s call. Only a band that doesn´t give a shit about kids would have played on knowing the dangers exist.
this pretty much happened at my college, we had the plain white t's come and they were about to play but the lead singer was sick and they canceled the show...wtff
canadians are effing douchebags... booing them and chanting bullshit? really? its not their fault that the dumbass crowd broke the barrier.... they were probably shutdown by security or the owners of the venue... its not like they just decided they didn't want to play... grow up canada!
It doesn't matter where you are in the world half the crowd was drunk and if this happened in your hometown then the same thing would probably happen.
i've seen it happen multiple times... i've been to more shows than i could even begin to count... the difference is that in america we don't just stomp out the person in front of us if they fall down... seriously, 19 people injured from this? thats a joke
yeah people from all over the world chanting bullshit in english haha... it was mostly canadians and you know it... 19 people injured from this? are you people fucking retarded? the barrier goes down so you just trample everyone in front of you? figure it out canada
yeah cuz i'm so embarassed from writing comments anonymously on the internet haha... you know the crowd was wrong, just admit it... what was the venue supposed to do? just continue the show after 19 people were hospitalized? yeah right... there was no reason for these assholes to boo and chant bullshit after they were the root of the problem... get over yourself
look at the very last comment in this thread... i said i was bashing this group of canadians, not canadians in general... and don't try to act like pretty much the entire world doesn't insult and judge americans as a whole, not individually... americans hold all kinds of reputations that are largely inaccurate when applied to most of us, so get over it
ethnocentric? are serious? cuz there is such a huge difference between the cultures and ethnicities that make up our two countries. this has nothing to do with me thinking i'm better because i'm american. stop trying to use big words that you don't understand... this crowd was rude, obnoxious, insensitive, etc... i would say the exact same thing if it happened in america. like when that guy was trampled and killed at a walmart in NY on black friday... those AMERICANS were definitely DOUCHE BAGS
there you go again. you clearly don't undertsand what ethnocentrism is. it applies to specific cultures and ethnicities. canada and america don't have conflicting cultures. canada doesn't have a culture of its own, just like america doesn't. they are both mixes of many different backgrounds... you have successfully placed yourself in the demographic of canadians that are DOUCHE BAGS
If there are literally no differences between Americans and Canadians, why would you bother pointing out that "most of the crowd is Canadian", and that "Canadians are douchebags"?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i said we don't have conflicting cultures... clearly there are differences, as in my passport says i'm american and yours says you are canadian... or you have wayne gretzky and we have brett favre... or you have mounties and we have real cops... or that only one of our countries is a world power and the other is britain's babyback bitch....
P.S. - those last two were a joke so don't get your panties in a bunch again
The people were trampled because the barrier fell down....the people at the back were pushing the people in front trying to get closer. But it was over in less than a minute as people backed off when they realized what had happened. Nobody was trying to kill anybody, dude. We are Canadian.
yeah but my point is that the crowd was booing and chanting bullshit when the show was stopped... does a venue really have any other choice when 19 people are hospitalized? i understand that accidents happen, but the way the crowd reacted was really uncalled for and rude to the venue and the band that was playing
Actually I was there about 30 minutes. The so-called crowd was a small group of teenagers that couldnt handle alcohol. They had 3 girls in that group who ditched them because they pushed their way in front of me and my wife. The girls told them that they were cutting in front of us, and the dude looked at me and shrugged like he didnt give a shit. He and his buddies continued their bullshit and really, I´m glad they shut it down because they lost the girls and the concert too. Great evening.
k buddy im pretty sure if it was in your hometown, half the crowd would be drunk and fucked up to and this would probably happen just the same, so stop ranting on canadians when you have no right to and grow the fuck up
i'm not bashing canadians in general... i'm bashing these douche bag canadians that a) trampled people in the crowd and injured 19 people, and b) booed the venue/band whatever that was forced to shut down the show because the dumbass crowd broke the barrier... i live 20 minutes from the border and have been to vancouver/whistler/etc. only about 1,000 times so i have a right to say whatever i want to about canadians because it is based off personal experience.
Enjoy the party...ignore the losers. Period. And the people ragging on you here...they have a perception that you are an American know it all and lack any humility. That shit doesnt go down well here. Even us Canadians can´t act out patriotism and get away with it. Its the olympics..we let it slide a bit. After the olympics are over, we´ll enjoy our quiet pride. No need to fly the flag or salute the thing...its the people that matter most.
what the hell is this crowd thinking they hurt many people and they don't care. This is sad and disgusting that people would so low. Alexisonfire did the right thing and help many people who were injuried and prevent many other people from being injured by ending the show.
Ummm....the CROWD? It was a group of about 5 FIVE people. They were drunk assed stoned assed kids about 16 yrs old. Most of the people there understood...even other drunk ass kids had the good sense it was over. Who fucking cares about a group of 5 butt munches booing. If booing is the best they can do I think the free world is safe.
I was there - what you see in this video is a small group of people near the camera that where being idiots - the crowd in general did not act in the manner that is depicted in this video.
This has nothing to do with what nationality the crowd is. This just further proves that people still haven't progressed from savages. Good on the people who chilled out. But the fact people organized a bullshit chant against the band wow, a sad day for humanity... well at least I think so.
wow what the fuck is with the crowd? i've seen alexis four times, they truly love their fans i mean they didn't cancel to hurt them they cancelled so it would be safe for them to have a good time and not have to go to hospital jesus.
this reaction makes me respect the band even more. Completely authentic. Rock shows are about having fun and sharing emotions. Not about getting injured. Blame the retards who use concerts to play Hulk - not the band.
meeh11 So Canadians get out of line once and you assume that the whole country is guilty? Bah! Canada's population is based on 70% immigrants and 30% 4th generation Canadians. While yes, they are considered Canadians it doesnt mean that they have our habits and politeness.
They arent unloyal fans, they are jsut plain retarded fan that thinks that in a rock concert, you do not care about anything except trashing anything possible to look "awesome", Well sad reality is, those guys are morons, trash like an idiot if you want, dont go as far as injuring people dumb mother fuckers, ive been ni alot of heavy metal shows, lucky me, ppl had enough intelligence to prevent injuries and those that were hurt.
Never said it was heavy metal, learn to read. Ive simply said that in heavy metal shows, i didnt see any retarded people like the ones in this video. Dumbass =). If heavy metal shows can be civilize, why cant these type of show be civilize also? Retards need to learn how to read ^^
not the best memory of them, but I will never forget it. Thanks for the memories to the ONLY BAND EVER.

Sure, you have the right to be pissed off. Pissed off at the band? No. Pissed off at the kids who destroyed the barrier? Yeah.
Just think, it could have been you who was injured.

Go fuck youself loser....

what a joke, i lost all respect for alexisonfire that day
kruger04 1 year ago
REALLY? because I GAINED tonnes of respect for them. The fact that the safety of their fans is more important than putting on a free show shows they have their priorities straight! Several fans went to hospital because of what happened, and if they were to ignore that fact and continue with the show would have been disrespectful.
CanadianGuy82 1 year ago 3
I concur with Canadian guy, they care more about the kids getting hurt than a few tunes.
Nobody really has any respect for you....worry about that more than Alexisonfire. They´ve moved on.
Rata4You 1 year ago 4
You are a fucking joke... Losing respect for a band over a safety hazard? You selfish son of a bitch.
They showed an amazing ammount of character there, as Canadians, as human beings...
Get the fuck out of Canada.

I have better things to do with my time.

reality is its not alexisonfires call. security and management would not allow a show to go on if a huge show like this got out of hand. they are just the messangers of the bad news.
thegoodsoldier84 1 year ago
Actually they called it off themselves when advised of the dangers on the ground. It was everybody´s call. Only a band that doesn´t give a shit about kids would have played on knowing the dangers exist.

yeah cuz i'm so embarassed from writing comments anonymously on the internet haha... you know the crowd was wrong, just admit it... what was the venue supposed to do? just continue the show after 19 people were hospitalized? yeah right... there was no reason for these assholes to boo and chant bullshit after they were the root of the problem... get over yourself
XxtylerisradxX 1 year ago
Haha.. get over myself?
You're the one insulting an entire nation of people, you imbecile.
ChildsPrison 1 year ago
look at the very last comment in this thread... i said i was bashing this group of canadians, not canadians in general... and don't try to act like pretty much the entire world doesn't insult and judge americans as a whole, not individually... americans hold all kinds of reputations that are largely inaccurate when applied to most of us, so get over it
XxtylerisradxX 1 year ago
"canadians are effing douchebags..."
Stop trying to change what you said, you ethnocentric douchebag.
ChildsPrison 1 year ago 2
ethnocentric? are serious? cuz there is such a huge difference between the cultures and ethnicities that make up our two countries. this has nothing to do with me thinking i'm better because i'm american. stop trying to use big words that you don't understand... this crowd was rude, obnoxious, insensitive, etc... i would say the exact same thing if it happened in america. like when that guy was trampled and killed at a walmart in NY on black friday... those AMERICANS were definitely DOUCHE BAGS
XxtylerisradxX 1 year ago
Honestly.. just quit while you're behind.
You know what you said, so stop trying to bullshit your way out of it. You ethnocentric fucking idiot.
ChildsPrison 1 year ago
there you go again. you clearly don't undertsand what ethnocentrism is. it applies to specific cultures and ethnicities. canada and america don't have conflicting cultures. canada doesn't have a culture of its own, just like america doesn't. they are both mixes of many different backgrounds... you have successfully placed yourself in the demographic of canadians that are DOUCHE BAGS
XxtylerisradxX 1 year ago
If there are literally no differences between Americans and Canadians, why would you bother pointing out that "most of the crowd is Canadian", and that "Canadians are douchebags"?
Fuck off, you dunce.

i said we don't have conflicting cultures... clearly there are differences, as in my passport says i'm american and yours says you are canadian... or you have wayne gretzky and we have brett favre... or you have mounties and we have real cops... or that only one of our countries is a world power and the other is britain's babyback bitch....

The people were trampled because the barrier fell down....the people at the back were pushing the people in front trying to get closer. But it was over in less than a minute as people backed off when they realized what had happened. Nobody was trying to kill anybody, dude. We are Canadian.
Rata4You 1 year ago
yeah but my point is that the crowd was booing and chanting bullshit when the show was stopped... does a venue really have any other choice when 19 people are hospitalized? i understand that accidents happen, but the way the crowd reacted was really uncalled for and rude to the venue and the band that was playing
XxtylerisradxX 1 year ago
Actually I was there about 30 minutes. The so-called crowd was a small group of teenagers that couldnt handle alcohol. They had 3 girls in that group who ditched them because they pushed their way in front of me and my wife. The girls told them that they were cutting in front of us, and the dude looked at me and shrugged like he didnt give a shit. He and his buddies continued their bullshit and really, I´m glad they shut it down because they lost the girls and the concert too. Great evening.
Rata4You 1 year ago
k buddy im pretty sure if it was in your hometown, half the crowd would be drunk and fucked up to and this would probably happen just the same, so stop ranting on canadians when you have no right to and grow the fuck up
jacubio 1 year ago
i'm not bashing canadians in general... i'm bashing these douche bag canadians that a) trampled people in the crowd and injured 19 people, and b) booed the venue/band whatever that was forced to shut down the show because the dumbass crowd broke the barrier... i live 20 minutes from the border and have been to vancouver/whistler/etc. only about 1,000 times so i have a right to say whatever i want to about canadians because it is based off personal experience.
XxtylerisradxX 1 year ago
Enjoy the party...ignore the losers. Period. And the people ragging on you here...they have a perception that you are an American know it all and lack any humility. That shit doesnt go down well here. Even us Canadians can´t act out patriotism and get away with it. Its the olympics..we let it slide a bit. After the olympics are over, we´ll enjoy our quiet pride. No need to fly the flag or salute the thing...its the people that matter most.
