  • Classic material.

  • brilliant piece!

  • WHEN THE OTHER GUY COMES IN HAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @a3883m knob

  • @a3883m I don't know which is more pathetic: the fact that you don't think this is funny, or that you stare at bowls of dog food :s "Would you mind going out and crossing the boulevard when the lights are against you?"

  • @a3883m If you watch it out of context, it's not that funny. If you watch it knowing what's going on, it's hilarious.

  • @a3883m You gotta understand that this joke has been "borrowed" and done and redone and played out very many times throughout the years; the Marx Brothers were comedy pioneers... When this came out, no one had seen anything like it before.

  • @a3883m don't watch then prick

  • @a3883m no one asked you to watch this, if you don't like it there's plenty of other places you can go.

  • @a3883m if you don't like it, then at least stay silent. the old movies have few enough fans as it is, so go troll lady gaga or something

  • I think Slutto and Shitto are just riding on Fucko's coattails.

  • What happened to all the Glass when he ran up there?

  • amazing i so love this - thanks

  • TROOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • Pure comedy and real talent. I love Duck Soup!!!

  • Too many Grouchos.

  • Stand in at the end...by today's standards...falls short...but i love the Bros anyway.

  • that is so funny

  • VSAUCE#3 GOOfy

  • Happy 121st Birthday Groucho!

  • @tommyrock69

"I'm going back and clean the crackers out of my bed; I'm expecting company." -Groucho

I wouldn't say that the Marx brothers' movies are completely free of innuendo, but it's done in a subtle, never raunchy way that it's just pure comedy :)

  • 20 people dislike this...morons.

  • Hehehehehe

  • I like how after he breaks the mirror, the glass just happens to disappear before Groucho shows up.

  • The finest !

  • Not one dirty word spoken or innuendo made in the entire thing. Any person from any corner of the world could laugh at this. They are dearly missed.

    Mozarts of comedy.

  • the dancing part is the best, and when harpo drops his hat and groucho picks it up for him lol just classic!!!!

  • I make skits that are chock-full of puns and one-liners, please take a look and let me know what you think! I'm a huge fan of The Marx Brothers and want to reach out to an audience who likes that sense of humor

  • Definitely does not hold up over time but could you imagine if they reproduced this scene now and how much they would take credit for there C.G.I. and the time it took to process? Lame Scene though

  • @633aaron This scene is awesome and definitely holds up over time! A true classic for anybody who understands comedy!

  • The X-Files did homage to this scene featuring David Duchovny. It's hilarious and well worth checking out.

  • Classic! It's amazing when you think of how many filmmakers have used this season as inspiration in their work.

    Truly original!

  • 1:57 epic

  • I love how there is silence throughout this routine!

  • @gusisgr I heard (from john cleese I think) its because there was no way they could do this without everyone on the set breaking into laughter, so they just gave up and pulled the sound all together

  • 1:36 was brilliant. xD

  • I lvoe the I love Lucy take on this. Not that this one isn't brilliant. I just think that they are both two of the greatest moments I've seen.

  • wats the name of this movie?

  • @lovinblackops115 marx brother ducksoup

  • so funny

  • How did there just happen to be an identical room behind the mirror?

  • The marx brothers didn't make a movie without trying all the gags on the stage first. Imagine seeing this live in a theater!

  • there is nothin' funny about american pie its a disgrace

  • Now you're thinking with portals.

  • :) I just wonder where is the broken glass :)))

  • it's no wonder almost every comedy show ever has tried to copy this, it's i purely masterful.

  • genius - pure genius~

  • When Groucho ( 2:00 ) saw that "the other " had a BLACK hat is so funny xD

  • anyone else notice how the film switched from one white hat and one black hat to two white hats with a black band around them?

  • @doobiesnax He still has the black hat behind his back.

  • @doobiesnax i was wondering the same...

  • @doobiesnax that was the point though, because Groucho saw the black hat, and assumed he could catch him red handed like that, only to have him put on a white hat as well.

  • The weird thing about this scene for me is, I always thought Chico and Harpo looked alot alike in the face, but when they all dressed up as Groucho, Chico looked alot like Groucho in the face and Harpo didn't! WTH!?

  • 360warlock dont understand your statement u lost me with amazon my friend ...whats that? i just want to buy the first 4 movies..animal crackers..duck soup ....horse feathers...coconuts.....read into it !

  • @09bnunez He's saying go to amazon.com to look for their movies.

  • @09bnunez He means that you can buy the movies at amazon.com

  • the great marx bro i could watch them over and over again...i want to buy their first 4 movies i cant find them help me somebody...please

  • @09bnunez Amazon My friend

  • Groucho is Boss

  • ah, good times. classic humor at its best

  • Digitally remastered with all the scratches, hisses, and pops of the original preserved.

  • Just brilliant...I love when he does the 360* but his reflection just does the "taa daa !" CLASSIC

  • Today this would be done by using special effects. Gotta love the old school moviemaking!

  • lol love this

  • 面白すぎる!!!!!

  • huh? guess i should keep watching more clips, although i prefer the stooges

  • you know harpo also had a double. her name was lucille ball. the rest is history.

  • 1:23 the first duck walk

  • what 20 fucknuts disliked this???

    the assholes...

  • there have been so many spoofs on this

  • I was lucky enough to see this movie in a second run movie house and the audience roared with laughter during this scene; I'm not one of those who dislikes all modern comedy but I've never heard laughs that loud during any of them.

  • Watch it while eating Tootsie Fruitsie Ice Cream

  • Harpo Marx and Lucell Ball did a bit in I Love Lucy

  • CLASSIC.

  • So glad my father brought me up watching these. Wouldn't be the same without it.

  • classic no one is this talented any more we lost all the good ones

  • Pure film, real comedy, absolute Masters.

  • And to think there are some idiots who don't believe they are brothers. What a bunch of goofballs. They look identical with the grease make-up. I laugh when I see this scene re-created on I Love Lucy. Lucille Ball was in the cast of 'Room Service'.

  • HAHHAHAH love it 1:32 harpo is so clever not even spinning but still seems the same that is my fav part

  • funny i couldnt stop laughing

  • OMG that was awesome

  • Very funny, especially the bit where they're dancing.

  • OMG Harpo looks exactly like Groucho hahahahahahahahaha XD

  • Comment removed

  • It's probably silent because they couldn't film it without the crew laughing hysterically in the background.

  • @joshua2443 Not Quite silent ....but very trippy.

  • This is such pure, classic comedy that I'd have no problem at all showing it to my four year old granddaughter--and she'd get it immediately. Sidebar: those guys were such masters of comedy and timing that I'd bet the it took all of one take to get it done--and I wouldn't be surprised if there was some on-the-fly improv, mostly by Harpo, during the course of such a take.

  • holy moly this must have taken ages to perfect, and for back then, my goodness.

  • i love the marx brothers,, im 46 now and iv been watching them since i was a young lad,, totaly classic humour

  • hahaha what made him crash in the mirror in the fist place?

  • Party, party, I came here for a party, and what do I get? Nothing. Not even ice cream.

Oh this would be a better world for the children if the parents had to eat the spinach. I'm just gonna go lie down until rigor mortis sets in. I, I , I vant to be alone

  • i love this scene

  • Gotta wonder how many takes this took.

  • i can't laugh

  • The funniest part is 1:36 when Harpo cleverly and simply just does the end part of the movement as Groucho would not be able to see any part of the movement except the end part ne way lol.

  • Don't you that the bros look exactly alike lol

  • What's with the suicide jump at the beginning? Did someone spike his cigar?

  • @LouisLambert hahahaha

  • Lucille Ball did a nice homage of this.

  • 1:36 kills me every time XD

  • The Marx Brothers are my Beatles.

  • @fodsaks Which is funny - since The Beatles were once referred to as "Britain's answer to the Marx Brothers", with the movie "A hard day's night".

  • Video very cool and interesting. I wish you success...

  • I think my sounds broken. hehe

  • 1:33 is such a win

  • is the mirror okay?

  • XAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAX

  • pure genius!

  • This is real comedy

  • Never mind pontificating about Marx history and other films, you lot. Enjoy this, it's bloody brilliant! Especially the dancing part! Oh God, so funny.

  • Harpo also did this scene with Lucille Ball on an episode of I love Lucy.

  • Thanks for this great clip! I invite my fellow MB fans to enjoy a hysterical master class on the music of Chico and Harpo. This is BIG FUN, free, and you'll learn alot!

  • thats just true arerican talent

  • how the hell are there dislikes !?!

  • Som typ måndag morgon ;) !

  • entrance of the third groucho always makes me laugh XD

  • the funny thing about this is..ones night gown is longer than the others..haha

  • Perfect.Even the fact that it's quiet makes it so good.Favorite parts are 1:39 and 2:30.

  • These guys are true icons of the movie world. The joy they have brought has been handed down through three generations and hopefully will be passed on to future generations. Top Marx - Pure comedy at its best!

  • Harpo is in the other side.

  • They don't have comedy like they used to.

  • whenever i feel that everything is coming to an end, and hateful to everyone, i turn on a marx bros flick and it resets my mind to realize that everything is a joke, and should be treated as such.................

favorite line ever: " what ever it is, i'm against it!".....

  • the dance at 1:29 is priceless

  • @myboint Big Deal, this is far funnier.

  • @myboint you mean this scene? cuz the movie ain't idjit

  • @myboint Yeah, and Walt Disney copied from many many famous titles. He was a mash-up artist.

  • @myboint boo you suck

  • THE ORIGINAL

  • This has been copied so many times since, but nothing beats the original!

  • If you like this, the I Love Lucy episode w/Harpo and Lucy recreating the Mirror Scene is also a classic.

  • Why don't they show these classics on AMC or TMC anymore?

  • Jättekul,this kind of Humour

  • Bunch of commies.

  • notice how ther is broken mirror on the floor and then its gone...

  • @MehProductions2000 It's magic!

  • @pedrofcuk it sure is! =D

  • I sing about the marxists in The Celebrity Song.

  • The fake out spin is the greatest.

  • absolutely brilliant. ty for the posting

  • LOL. Have you met Lydia, Lydia, Lydia the tattooed lady?

  • @marxbrosfan1 yeah, saw this whole movie for the first time a few days ago. obviously I had seen this scene a millions of times, but not the movie. but I loved it, and I love them, especially harpo. :)

  • This is pure comedy gold. It must have taken A LOT of practice to get JUST RIGHT.

  • @baarbear I was thinking the same thing:)

  • this was done way ahead of its time amazing

  • lmfao...gotta love the oldies (Marx Bros, Three Stooges, Abbot and Costello, Laural and Hardy)

    great scene.

  • From what I've read, the reason there is no sound is because the film crew couldn't stop laughing during the scene so they would need to start again and reshoot it. The director finally gave up and decided to go through with it, removing the sound later.

  • my favourite bit is at 1:52

  • is it chico or harpo on the other side?

  • @kyrastube it's Harpo.

  • @kyrastube and then Chico comes in

  • @matthewsteele99 yeah, I have finally baught me a copy of this movie. LONG overdue, but now I have it and love it. :)

  • @kyrastube It's Harpo. Chico appears at the end of the scene and is the one who's caught.

Harpo repeated this sketch with none other than Lucille Ball on an episode of "I Love Lucy", with Lucy taking Harpo's role as the mimic. The clip is easily found here on YouTube.

  • Timeless comedy genius.

  • If Chico hadn't walked in they'd probably still be doing this...

  • This looks easy to do, but is'nt

  • genious

  • a classic, carol burnett redid it pretty good

  • the no sound thing is not too amazing Lloyd, Chaplin and keaton managed it.

I love the Marx brothers and always have. I just wish they could somehow of got Zeppo into this disguise scene.

  • amazing no sound but it's still funny as hell

  • Duck Soup

  • What film is this from?

  • Duck soup

  • @pleurotusp2

    Duck Soup

  • thank you both.

  • thank u both

  • Oh that's so funny, I'm laughing with delight!

  • Damn, Is that how I smell things!! I wish this comments box had an ABC spelling checker...Umm, maybe that was a waste of a wish!!!,

I should have wished that I could spell!! lol

I see your point heliotropezzz333 ,,i actually watched it many times and is this the first ever comedy scene to do the mirror copycat fakiness thingy!!

  • How could it have been funnier. The very clumsiness and klutziness is part of the comedy. They each know the other is not a mirror image, as is obvious, but the comedy is that they play along with the idea until the point where it can't be denied by even the most obtuse person.

  • Anthologie du cinéma !!!

    Merci pour le post !

  • uahhhh ahahahahah !!!

    MA E' UN CAPOLAVORO !

    Magnifico !

    Grazie Fan,

    Grazie per il post

    5***** !!!

  • Quite possibly some of the greatest comedy ever, such a shame they don't come up with scenes like this anymore.

  • This is absolutely hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. No cussing, nothing insulting or demeaning, just pure comedy. Thanks Marx Bros.

  • lucy and harpo did a version a bit later.

  • This clip is sheer comedy genius. Groucho to this day remains the master of the comedy one liner. The only one to come close was Alan Alda as Hawkeye in M.A.S.H. where you could see similarities of style and delivery.
