If the american version was a little more professional (with Alton Brown making less jokes, not that I am against him since I watch Good Eats fervously, it's just he sometimes goes overboard) and less playing around amongst the chefs.
The judges less commenting on "I can't taste this" or "I can't taste that" (because well DUH, they are supposed to cook it in five different dishes with one indgredient. OF COURSE IT WILL TASTE DIFFERENT FROM THE REAL THING, MORONS), it will be better.
In your face, Kanoh! There's a reason Sakai later became the King of Iron Chefs. It seems like Sakai shows a lot more emotion when winning in later shows than he did in earlier ones.
i just remembered the oxtail dish which the iron chef did prepare for us when i went to hattori eiyou senmon gakkou last week... it tasted so wonderful btw...
fortune teller makes some very insightful comments more than a pretty actress! she certainly has a good palate and is very rich so has sampled top restaurants.
I read this about the fortune teller on Wikipedia, seems she's pretty popular in Japan, or at least was at the time this show was on: Kazuko Hosoki, popular fortune teller and holder of the World Record for Most Best-selling Books (81 books)
Does anybody else hate that Hosoki chick? A fortune teller? come on! She is so damn picky, like she did anything to deserve to be on that wonderful show. Asako Kishi is for me.
soo true...how can she be soo picky of other people's food when she can't do better...and she isn't even a professional food critic. Like as a judge, she should really watch what she says.
@mimi42428 I know right? Its probably a cultural thing, I spent a few years in Japan and the older generations their put stock in fortune telling, Taro Cards, etc. So they may look at her as a wise or enlightened person. I think she may have some "Simon Cowell" appeal for them, they probably love how honest (sh**ty) she is with people. You clearly have good taste. Nice channel btw.
i am always in awe of asian culture. everything they do has an artists touch to it. what a beautiful culture. this is a comment from a southern redneck. i love this culture.
kishi always needs her own salt shaker! shio onegai! this one needs more salt.. :) yea ok.. :)

@xavistheman "chick" is a slang term for a girl in America. Although many girls think its an insult.

Sakai wins IMO Sakai showed more creativity while the challenger stuck to his recipes and devoted more time to making Kano's favourites

i wonder what the iron chefs are up to today.

Most are still running their restaurants.
I don't think Kobe has a restaurant.
Michiba is retired now.
