To all 3 users in the UK - If you have one of the Skype phones and havent upgraded the Skype you may be getting a text from 3 mobile soon stating that "from the 4/04/2011 Skype will no longer work on your phone and you will need a new phone that skype is compatible with". If your using the newer versions of Skype you should be ok for the moment :-(

My Skype s2 is fine its the only phone i use these days have also got a LG ku 990 bit to be honest typing on it does my head in and trying to view pics or video lol forget it you get a please wait..... message for 10 minutes nope im sticking with the s2 for now till i find a better one

The Skpe s2 is a good phone it said in the booklet you can put a 2 gig memory card but ive got 8 gig in mine havin fun fillin it with music.

i ve got this phone and its shit i recieve muliple of the same messages and it crashes all the time it also takes 10 mins befoore u can open your messages if u have alot. i recieved 9 of the same messages in a row this happens on most of them and you have to reset your whole phone

£39.99 now. I don't know what to get, this skypephone or the lg cookie. The skypephone apparently has hsdpa and 3g. However lg cookie doesn't. I like the design of the lg cookie. I don't know what to get!!!!!!!!!!

not really, the main purpose of the phone is for skype to skype calls as well as free windows livemessenger. If you want it just for general phone purposes dont buy it, 3G pay as you go is pretty crappy, since it cost allot for others on other networks to call you

im thinking of buying this phone, but i wont use skype at all i just want to use the apps such as facebook or windows live messenger. i text a lot is this phone good for texting? in UK the network 3, gives you 300 free texts for any network. is this phone good for phone calls? i dont do phone calls a lot but is it worth buying it?

Why would you want to turn T9 off? It's faster than the multitap method. Only people who cannot spell fear T9!!!

camera is well shit. i have this fone. no camera on front so cant do video call even though its a 3 fone. camera is 3.2 but flash is useless and is morelike 1.0 camera

Bad points:

#1: Battery is crap. Doesnt last more than 3 days with light-normal usage.

#2: Cant turn the T9 off (only in SMS).

#3: No flash, night mode doesnt really do anything, you need a very steady hand.

Other than that, great value for its money. Hope for a firmware upgrade soon.

tbh I think that the Skypephone S2 is really good value for money... I have had no real issues with it, and if you are only going to use it for skype and the odd bit of facebook and internet it is really worth it!!

so you have to use 3g to actually call skype people? if im working in the middle of no where wth no coverage whats the point

The skype calls go through the normal GSM network, not actually 3G, so you will always get a connection (well obviously there need to be some sort of GSM signal)

For some reason, you can only make international calls using skype-out(so only calls to other countries). I'm guessing that if they made national calls available through skype they would loose money. So basically no, you would not be able to call landlines using the skypephone. They might however make it available in the future, you never know.

MrWho, Skype is completely free to call other people using Skype

to call people on normal phones (mobiles or landlines) will cost you standard rates

spent couples with the phone now, but im sending it back to free :( for the info, the phone was fantastic!!! but the coverage from 3 from very poor my calls and IM services was un-usable, heads up to anyone else looking for this

Just ordered this phone on pay monthly with 1GB net access, did recently buy nokia 6300 with my same number for 7 years but provider didnt seem to offer anything as good and interactive with the net as the skypephone S2 offers. Looking forward to its arival on tuesday :) thanks for the review on this it upp'ed my confidence in the S2 more ;)

Sounds like an interesting phone, shame about Duncan's presentation skills - too many "really reallys", erms and ahs, random gesticulations, and lack of awareness of where the cameras were.

He clearly knew his subject though - just needs to polish up the presentation!
