Umm...did you forget that it wasn't until 40 years ago that blacks had the same rights as whites. We could not go to the same restaurants, restrooms, schools, hospitals, etc. We were also subjected to violence simply because of the color of our skin. Did you know about the housing laws that made it difficult for blacks to get loans for houses by charging higher interest rates. In the deeds it would state that the owner of the house cannot sell it to a person of color. This wasn't that long ago.
What about the whites who killed off many of the Native Americans and stole their land. Then stole us from our native countries to make us work on this land for a profit. We helped make this country what it is whether you like it or not. The civil right movement was only about 40 years ago. There are millions of people alive on both sides of this movement who may still have their experiences or mentality with them. Over time it will fade, but you have to know the history in order to change it.

Being that my great grandmother as well as my grandmother have both passed, and it was my father's mother who was Jewish, I'm not able to ask anything. In fact, it wasn't until her passing that we found out her heritage. I can say this...due to her beliefs and mine, she did not hold grudges (nor do I) against anyone, nor do we break anyone's jaws, nor cry about it for years. I just forgive (whether it was asked for or not), let it go, and be thankful that we don't have to endure it these days.

Umm...did you forget that it wasn't until 40 years ago that blacks had the same rights as whites. We could not go to the same restaurants, restrooms, schools, hospitals, etc. We were also subjected to violence simply because of the color of our skin. Did you know about the housing laws that made it difficult for blacks to get loans for houses by charging higher interest rates. In the deeds it would state that the owner of the house cannot sell it to a person of color. This wasn't that long ago.

What about the whites who killed off many of the Native Americans and stole their land. Then stole us from our native countries to make us work on this land for a profit. We helped make this country what it is whether you like it or not. The civil right movement was only about 40 years ago. There are millions of people alive on both sides of this movement who may still have their experiences or mentality with them. Over time it will fade, but you have to know the history in order to change it.

Being that my great grandmother as well as my grandmother have both passed, and it was my father's mother who was Jewish, I'm not able to ask anything. In fact, it wasn't until her passing that we found out her heritage. I can say this...due to her beliefs and mine, she did not hold grudges (nor do I) against anyone, nor do we break anyone's jaws, nor cry about it for years. I just forgive (whether it was asked for or not), let it go, and be thankful that we don't have to endure it these days.
