Is that what she was commanding during that episode of DS9? I don't remember it; but after that she gets court-marshaled and reduced in rank. After that she apparently works her way back up and into another captain's chair.
I agree, not everything you see is on an episode, people expand using book and encyclopedias, and theories on internet sites. I'm sure that Commander Benteen receives a new command of a starship, but acording to the 'official' Star Trek Saga, she never got the promotion.
Sorry man but I've gotta give this vid a thumbs down. Not creative at all, I could've put something like this out in 5 minutes or less.

I thought that Captain Erika Benteen been the commanding officer of the USS Lakota, Excelsior-class, not a considerably smaller Steamrunner-class.

Yeah, that was her name.
I knew she got a court martial and reduced in rank, but i couldn't remember what new ship she got.
Glad to be of help to you. :)

According to Starship creator, she didn't get re-promoted.

And besides everything that isn't seen, mentioned etc in the actual series' (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT) is considered Non-Canon, eg books and games.

Steamrunners are quite big, though just smaller than an Excelsior

@NCC1701J Steamrunner is a better ship anyway. Consider it an upgrade
