UPDATE: I managed to catch her in a pillowcase lurring her w/seeds (figured she'd hate me after that). My dad is a carpenter & he made a surgical device - it was a board w/wire (taped 4 safety) in a circle shape like her holes; we put the pillowcase up to that & it forced her 2go in it. (it was a very tight fit) We removed it & flushed the hole w/saline,hydrogen peroxicde & put neosporin in it & its healing up fine and SHE STILL LOVES ME!!! :) I feed her every morning from my hand :)
@megyerdon Yea I'm really glad it worked too. And she has been healing fine I think. It's like 100 degrees here everyday so she doesn't get out much, and she might have babies - but now at least I can identify her good b/c she has a crescent shaped black scar on her right shoulder lol. It's so hard to find her sometimes b/c we have like 20 chipmunks around here.
Also, thanks for sharing the video - she is adorable. The warble doesn't look full grown yet, but may be in a delicate area, and you are right to be concerned for her well being. Good luck to you, and I hope I have helped a bit. Keep us posted, please?
Call your local animal control. Ask if there is an wildlife animal rehab place near you. DO NOT mention in detail how you have been taming her - just say you have been providing food for local wildlife in your yard, and you noticed the botfly. They may opt to come get her and remove it - usually they have a licensed vet on staff. There is a squirrel rehab video on here, several in fact, where they remove these parasites. Thats my best advice - do not try it yourself.
