I'm a little confused here. I was pretty sure that Slash used a 1959slp with the Caswell #39 mod for the appetite record and not a jcm800. And the record definitely doesn't sound like a jcm800, it has a very plexi sound to it.

If this is gonna be sold,, people obviously arent gonna expect to sound EXACTLY like Slash did on the album... But surely Marshall will have to consider that it wont sound like it was in recording, at a bedroom volume? Valves need to be CRANKED to sound good, so what.... Its not gonna work at a low volume :S Unless they can impress us again :P

for those who don't know afd amp was NOT a jcm800!!

It was a modified older model, metal panel, and no it wasn't the one with the tremolo thing. That was the #36 from SIR...slash recorded with the #39.

The RUMOR is that it was a modded 1959. Slash has said in many interviews in the past that he thinks it was a JCM 800. If it was a 1959, he would have recognized it as such, because it has a very different look.

but the point is that slash is lying! he didnt use a jcm800 he always said in his interviews that he used a moded plexi,tremolo version, even the company that rented the amp confirmed that! and i mean 39348392 signature guitars? i mean cmon he didnt even use gibsons until recent, he used Max dereck or something like that handmade copies.lets put it like this, he is the only artist that i know that has 7 signature guitar models..and this is great talking about a 800 and only hearing it on youtube

@krugoval No he didn't "always." He has said in many interviews that he thinks it was a JCM. See Guitar World July 2007- that's probably the most recent magazine I have on hand where he says it was probably a JCM.

I personally don't know if it was a 1959 or a JCM 800. No one does.

He didn't have a deal with Marshall for the AFD100 amp in 2007. Anyways, I have a 1983 JCM 800 and I need something with more gain now. It sounds great on clean, but I need to get it modded or trade it in for something else. And Marshall has made a couple of good amps since the 800. The 2550 and 2555 were GREAT amps. Wish I had one of those.

ok after the jubilees all marshalls are crap built... i agree that the VM sounds good but overall quality of the amp(im talking about the components and tranies) are bad... very bad for the price you pay for it...

No way man, The JMP reissue is beast, The Vintage modern is absolutely amazing, and The 30th anniversary head 6100 is actually a favorite to a lot of Marshall users. The new Kerry King Head is absolutely ridiculous and i would buy one in a second if i had the cash

the jmp reissue has sucky tranies and is no way near as the original..VM. ok good sound but crappy components. i mean the tube sockets are soldered directly to the circuit board.that kind of qualitiy is seen in peavey classic 30s which are more than half of the price you pay for a VM. never played the 6100.kery king head is not my cup of tea. imho dsls and VM dont sound bad... it's the price thats wrong... for that kind of price you can get point to point big tranny heaven...
