hey so in first gear with my civic it kinda sounds like alittle bit of a grind but im not sure it only happens around 4k rpms in 1st..2nd..and 3rd... and my buddy says my tranny fluid is low does tht sound right.. just lookin for some advice.... tranny shop said trans looked fine and they cldnt figure out the problem.. also to bettr describe the sound put ur civic in reverse and wen u back up itll sound like its grinding thts the sound i hear in 1st,2nd and 3rd..
@MtnDewMee grinding and transmission dont mix well together, ever. putting new tranny fluid in the car will only mask the problem. it might make it better for a while, but itll come back. id take it to another shop, my guess theres something wrong with the tranny.
bought my car used.5 speed 2003 ex honda element with 130k miles. previous owner never changed tranny fluid. i heard its bad to change it or flush it. is that true?because after the crud is flushed out, then your trans might start to slip or break.what should i do?
Hey, I have a Honda Crx. All of the wiring has been cleaned in the last couple of months. Its been having a little trouble gearing down when driving it. It also has a problem of periodically dying while running. It usually happens when picking up speed or slowing down. So do you know whats wrong or how to fix this?
Thanks for the pointers! I knew how this is done but I haven't done it yet! I'm glad to see it done on a Honda as I'm doing it on my Prelude, it's an 86 but I would imagine it's still very similar. Thanks for posting
turkey baster is another way to get the fluid into the tranny. yes it should always have a magnetic drain plug. id get a genuine one from the dealer, but im sure auto part stores carry that.
@rinolope, technically the car is supposed to be level. I put it up on 4 stands and level it when I do it. But you're probably fine just jacking up the front as long as you don't jack it *way* up.
Do you think the process is the same to a 1997?

@openshot thatll only mask it for a while. if you really want to fix it, youd have to take the tranny off and find the problem

Do you know what weight of transmission oil to use on an EK civic? It's done 200,000km's.

@DtoWnSux1 change the fluid ASAP. dont flush it, just change it, flushing it can hurt the tranny from all that power water going thru it.
nukem384 9 months ago
@nukem384 but changing the fluid in it NOT FLUSHING. but just changing it, wont knock any parts of the transmission loose?your positive?
DtoWnSux1 9 months ago
@DtoWnSux1 yes youll be fine. watch the video! this car runs perfectly fine today.

Great video! What is the outside diameter of the hose?
Or, what is the inside diameter of the fill hole?
Easy to do with calipers.
Thanks.
RodgersResearch 10 months ago
@RodgersResearch i believe the hose was a 1/4 inch in diameter

"Passenger side of the car"?
My car is Right hand side Drive, and looks like the bolts you are using are on the right side of my motor? Would that be right?

@MarstaJNZ yeah its still on the same side even with a RHD car

kool. question, does the car have to be leveled on all four wheels or is it okay just to jack up the front end?? :?

i just had the front end jacked up. there are other videos on youtube doing the same method.

@nukem384 you need to have the car LEVEL or else you will have some 5th gear grinds due to it not being fully lubricated.
