The sinners prayer?... I believe you must Repent and believe in Christ Jesus. Surrender your life to him and step out of the world and onto the path.

They must realize they are damned because of their sins unless they repent and believe in Christ. The sinners prayer leaves them mostly thinking falsely they are saved just by believing without repentance or sanctification and that their salvation was based on something they did... A little recite of some words rather than true salvation.

You aren't saved until you endure to the end (the physical death). The message of asking Jesus into your life and automatically being saved is a devil's lie.

You have to be careful about legalism. We cannot earn salvation. It is a free gift from God; but, there should be a change when we give our life to Jesus though.

I commend them for their boldness. If only half of those who profess to know the Lord were out doing what He said many more souls would be saved too. I pray the Holy Spirit come upon every professing believer to get up and share the gospel message right where they are. God says His word never returns void, but goes forth to accomplish that which He has purposed it to do. Jesus said if He be lifted up, He will draw all men unto Himself. God needs His children to lift up the name of Jesus.

Streetfisher, Amen to all your excellent comments. I think that when we witness to individuals, we do not always have the exact same message. The Holy Spirt may lead one to plant and another to water. But ultimately, everyone hearing the message must turn from sin and their former life.

Because it's His righteousness not ours, His is perfect to save us from our transgressions. All our own righteousness is as dung as Paul put it. Christ died because we are condemned to hell as we are but He raises us from the dead because we are dead in our trespasses and sin. NOW, IF WE HAVE FAITH AND REPENT, ONLY THEN CAN WE GAIN LIFE IN CHRIST ALONE BY HIS WORKS ALONE. TRUST IN HIM ALONE, TURN FROM SIN AND WALK IN HIM AS A NEW CREATION. IF CHRIST SAVED YOU, IT IS FOREVER!

Sin is transgression against the Law (10 commandments), Gods Law set in stone. There must be a knowledge that all have lied, committed adultery, stolen, coveted, worshiped a god of their own choosing, not obeyed there parents and on and on. All have sinned... against this God a holy God who will not overlook any sin.  Christ fulfilled the Law perfectly. His Father was pleased to crush Him who knew no sin but became sin on our behalf so that we MIGHT be saved through His righteosness.

Please read this as a soft response not a hard dogmatic one. I didn't hear anything about an explanation to the sinner about what sin is. No one I witness to knows what sin is. No one knows that they sin against a holy God who will not grant you life in Him. Life in Christ comes from a knowledge of who you sin against. Murdering a prostitute will land you in jail for a while, but murdering the king of a country will get you death for sure. Sin against God almighty earns eternal hell.
