Yet the show proves that we occasionally make decent cars, like the Range Rover beating the Land Cruiser and Suzuki in the Bolivia challenge despite stalling lots and overheating.
Admitting Toyota trucks are decent doesn't mean American trucks can't also be good.

OK, so you get 3 city guys, with limited mechanical experience, to buy old trucks and go to Alaska. Got it! TV only, no country boys involved. Probably would've been too easy had a redneck been there, and they would have had some fresh food as well.
I'd like to see the behind the scenes footage of the Yota walkin' all over the domestic junk the guys brought and wouldn't mind seeing some of the genuinely nice shots of it wheeling in Alaska. Shame we won't ever see it though
these guys don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. You can get a nice Hilux or 4-Runner for 3 grand, and even better for 5k when they did the death valley challenge. I mean wth the best you could do was a bronco, an old Jeep CJ and an ancient suburban? How about a late 90s Land Rover Disco or a badass Hilux/Tacoma either of which would've made any of these challenges look like a joke, which is exactly what the US version is. They had 15 seasons of UKTG success to go off of and failed

If they were to use a Toyota it would be like UKTG using American trucks in the programs. All that would happen would be to tear it to hell on purpose. Because this is a FREE country still, and we can buy whatever the fuck we want. Trucks can haul heavy loads in the bed, pull trailers, boats, equipment, use them for work and play, drive OFF road, and carry 6 people at once. Try doing that with a car or suv...

Although nowhere near as good as Top Gear UK, I think we're at a point where the US version has gotten so much shit that its starting to play in their favor. My expectations for this were so low, that I actually enjoyed it. In all honesty, it's a decent start, they just have to fine tune it, they're copying UK too literally rather than copying the style and coming up with their own jokes. It's the same reason The Hangover 2 and those Chinese versions of iphones suck. They're cheap templates

I went to a live filimg of US Top Gear- it was awesome :) They look EXACTLY like how they do on TV. I know its no where near as good as the UK top gear, but you get what you get- and I got to be filmed on TV :D

Because this is a FREE country still, and we can buy whatever the fuck we want. Trucks can haul heavy loads in the bed, pull trailers, boats, equipment, use them for work and play, drive OFF road, and carry 6 people at once. Try doing that with a car or suv...

Although nowhere near as good as Top Gear UK, I think we're at a point where the US version has gotten so much shit that its starting to play in their favor. My expectations for this were so low, that I actually enjoyed it. In all honesty, it's a decent start, they just have to fine tune it, they're copying UK too literally rather than copying the style and coming up with their own jokes. It's the same reason The Hangover 2 and those Chinese versions of iphones suck. They're cheap templates

It seems as if though americans find english people difficult to understand, or else why make a US version?! I mean, it's not like clarksons, hammonds & mays accents are difficult to understand, they don't have strong english dialects.
I understand them fine and I'm not english, i'm not a native english speaker. Heck, the scots are far more difficult to undertsand than the english...in my experience anyway.
