I agree with GenuineMW2. As a frequent long-haul flier, I like Airbus planes a lot more than Boeing. A340 is more comfortable than B747. Both of the airplanes I have experienced as a customer of Lufthansa.
Even people who don't know airplanes can name a 747 on sight. The Queen of the Skies, is just that. It's lines are simply unmistakable. The forward "hump" oddly just works for the plane, and always will.

List prices for Airbus's are higher. model for model, Airbus's safety record matches if not exceeds Boeing's and the aircraft themselves are technically more advanced and from a passenger's viewpoint, more comfortable and quiet. As for the idea that "fly by wire" is stupid, I assume you'll be avoiding flying any 777 or 787, given they're both fully fly by wire.
@GenuineMW2 Your statement is not borne out by the facts. Both Boeing and Airbus models are pretty much on a par where safety is concerned, according to the various accident/incident databases. Clearly, airlines take passenger safety very seriously and I doubt Airbus would outsell Boeing if those airlines had misgivings. Airbus are also acknowledged to have quieter, more comfortable cabins, particularly on long haul. If you fly both you'll appreciate that.
I have flown Boeing but refuse to fly Airbus. Had several trips on the 747I but I have to say 747-8I is in the best league. Tis far roomier, even in coach, alot more comfortable and very quiet and smooth. Comfort is the primary factor with Boeing. Airbus class system makes it feel like a smelly over crowded cattle car. I see why Boeing has taken the lead with aviations best craftmenship and technology. Not one USA Carrier will buy the A380 because its a White Elephant doomed to be scrapped.

What GE have actually said is that they can provide an engine for the A350-8 and A350-9 but not the A350-1000. So theres your 1st mistake. The real reason they won't provide an engine for the -1000 is because it'll then be a direct competitor for the Boeing 777ER and LR. @BOACMach2 I think boeing's just handle better. I never liked the autothrottle system on the airbus and I think that the 747 handles much better than the a330 and the a320. Those are the only 2 airbuses ive flown, but they are very similar except for the a310 a300

That is, of course, a matter of opinion but I can vouch for the advanced avionics that give passengers better protection in the event of pilot error, a system I believe Boeing are finally utilising on their aircraft.

Airbus pioneered glass cockpits and fly by wire, now used on the 777 (and 787). The A320 was the first passenger airliner to use composites, something Boeing have finally got around to using. Boeing's 727 was a direct copy of the HS Trident. For most, they prefer smaller aircraft such as 777/787 as it suits their scheduling better, ie ethos of point to point/flexibility. Most US airlines are in financial difficulty right now & survival comes first. Others just prefer Boeing anyway as that's what they've always had. Sadly, they don't have much choice any more as MCD were taken over and Lockheed (the best IMO) were put out of business by greedy Boeing

As usual, you have your facts wrong. Lufthansa have 20 748Is on order not 40. This was placed in Dec 2006. Korean Air's order for 5 came in Dec 2009, almost THREE years later and is the only other airline to order the aircraft. Hardly a glowing reference is it but given the 777ER does more or less the same job at lower cost its not surprising really.

I agree with GenuineMW2. As a frequent long-haul flier, I like Airbus planes a lot more than Boeing. A340 is more comfortable than B747. Both of the airplanes I have experienced as a customer of Lufthansa.

The 747 platform is amazing. 41 years since first flight. It is still graceful and beautiful. (sorry Airbus, the A380, while a fantastic plane, looks like a beluga whale with gas. sorry.)

List prices for Airbus's are higher. model for model, Airbus's safety record matches if not exceeds Boeing's and the aircraft themselves are technically more advanced and from a passenger's viewpoint, more comfortable and quiet. As for the idea that "fly by wire" is stupid, I assume you'll be avoiding flying any 777 or 787, given they're both fully fly by wire.

@GenuineMW2 Your statement is not borne out by the facts. Both Boeing and Airbus models are pretty much on a par where safety is concerned, according to the various accident/incident databases. Clearly, airlines take passenger safety very seriously and I doubt Airbus would outsell Boeing if those airlines had misgivings. Airbus are also acknowledged to have quieter, more comfortable cabins, particularly on long haul. If you fly both you'll appreciate that.

I have flown Boeing but refuse to fly Airbus. Had several trips on the 747I but I have to say 747-8I is in the best league. Tis far roomier, even in coach, alot more comfortable and very quiet and smooth. Comfort is the primary factor with Boeing. Airbus class system makes it feel like a smelly over crowded cattle car. I see why Boeing has taken the lead with aviations best craftmenship and technology. Not one USA Carrier will buy the A380 because its a White Elephant doomed to be scrapped.

I have flown both Boeing and Airbus over the years. Had several trips on A380 but I have to say the A380 is a piece of shit with two wings. It's has cheap seats, even in 1ST Class, when full you can smell BO, plus its very noisy. Comfort has been sacrificed with Airbus. Boeing is ahead of the curve in Air-Design. I have flown both Boeing and Airbus over the years. Had several trips on the 744 but I have to say the A380 is in a different league. It's far roomier, even in coach, a lot more comfortable and a great deal quieter and smoother. Comfort has been the common factor with any Airbus. Boeing seem so old fashioned with the 744 now. I can see why Airbus have taken the lead in terms of build and technology. Hoping for a big improvement on the 748 though it seems no American airline wants that either.

Airbus pioneered glass cockpits and fly by wire, now used on the 777 (and 787). The A320 was the first passenger airliner to use composites, something Boeing have finally got around to using. Boeing's 727 was a direct copy of the HS Trident. The greatest civil airliner of them all, Concorde was designed and built in Europe and had an almost impeccable flight record, save the tragedy in Paris. Airbus aircraft are just as safe as any Boeing and are generally more comfortable, quiet so say passengers

Any business or corporation will practice tax avoidance measures to assist cash flow. It makes no sense at all to pay tax unnecessarily and given Airbus 3 major capital projects on the go, it's not surprising they are operating with little or no profit. What matters is the size of the order book and ongoing sales, which Airbus (and Boeing) are doing well with.

US carriers don't want the A380 White Elephant of the skys. The 787-8 are climbing and Boeing is in the the Profit Mode. @LottoWinner999 There are several reasons US airlines don't buy the A380. For most, they prefer smaller aircraft such as 777/787 as it suits their scheduling better, ie ethos of point to point/flexibility. Most US airlines are in financial difficulty right now & survival comes first. Others just prefer Boeing anyway as that's what they've always had. Sadly, they don't have much choice any more as MCD were taken over and Lockheed (the best IMO) were put out of business by greedy Boeing

When they start taking custom away from your airlines on transoceanic routes, you might find a few buying them. I'm not holding my breath though as it doesn't fit in with America's philosophy of point to point and frequency as well as the 767/777 or 787. One thing for sure, Boeing are heading for rocky waters. The 747-8 that nobody wants and the 7late7 that's losing customers.

@BOACMach2 Sinagpore Airlines cancelled 10 A380 + Airfags has only sold 13 White Elephants. Boeing has sold 843 Dreamliners and orders coming for the new Intercontinental. BTW when I talked about importing help Boeing we will need janitors + floor-sweepers + a gopher here + there. @LottoWinner999 Ha ha ha!!...A380 had another 4 orders confirmed today (Skymark Airlines) making 244 firm orders. Qatar Airlines will be ordering several A380's "imminently" (by June I guess). This is to add to the 6 ordered by Asiana a few weeks ago. It'll be fun seeing them land on Uncle Sam's soil to take custom away from your archaic old Boeing 747-400s. Face it, the "white elephant" is going to put some airlines out of business. Better get that 787 delivered and in the air.

@BOACMach2 General Electric fuel saving engine will be used on both Dream Liners. Trent 900 engine needs 2B redesinged + removed from AirFags A380'S. GE engines fit all Boeing aircraft. Airbus will not allow close up photographs of the Quantas engine that blew up + almost cut wing off A380. For some strange reason GE will not build Airfags new engine even after they begged GE @ Paris Air Show. A-350 design flopped + A380 only has 1 engine. U Brits all ur eggs in a French basket + in yo trouble.

Earlier this year, Boeing issued a statement declaring that “it is worthy of investment and will be a great airplane for our cargo and passenger customers.” Korean Air say deal valued at $1.5bn and will complement the airline’s previous order for up to seven 747-8F’s, the first of which is scheduled for delivery 2 years from now.

As usual, you have your facts wrong. Lufthansa have 20 748Is on order not 40. This was placed in Dec 2006. Korean Air's order for 5 came in Dec 2009, almost THREE years later and is the only other airline to order the aircraft. Hardly a glowing reference is it but given the 777ER does more or less the same job at lower cost its not surprising really.
