  • Interesting vid Frank. I think you might find the distributor on the dual quad car might have been installed with the number 1 cylinder at tdc on the exhaust stroke, instead of the compression stroke. One of my Caribbeans was like that when I first got it. The last owner turned the cap until it ran and the wire for no. 1 was in the same place. I moved it to where it normally is and got a nice shot of fire out of the carbs...

  • Actually, the dual quad car has the correct positioning of the distributor and the spark plug wires. It's the single four barrel car that is off by 180 degrees. I bumped the starter and stuck my thumb over the #1 spark plug hole. When the pressure pushed my thumb away with a little squirt of oil, the piston was at the top of the cylinder. The rotor pointed to the #1 plug wire, 180 degrees off. I'm no mechanic, but I think the rebuider got the crank and cam out of sync. Is that possible?
