Love this man -- great showman; stellar vocals, and a wonderful, sweet person. Funny -- Journey has a new singer; yet fans prefer to follow Steve solo where ever he goes. Pink Floyd ... when Roger Waters left the band after legally going after the Pink Floyd name and losing in court; fans flocked to see David, Rick and Nick. It seems to be the VOICE that people follow. If Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder ever went solo; people would follow him too, and not the band if they got a new singer.

I really liked Steve Augeri. Not only did he do justice to Perry's songs but he also brought songwriting dynamics into the mix as well. He wasn't just a sound alike, the band seemed to actually musically grow. I liked the harder edge that many of the songs took on. While I mean no disrespect to Arnel, it bothers me that the band seemas to just forget everything that Steve A. did. None of the Augeri material is performed anymore, and it seems like they're just rehashing the Perry era.

I'm a SOLID PERRY until the night of 30 July 2008. I was stunned, blown away during their concert in Tampa. That new guy Arnel had earned my respect. I'm glad I went out and saw them, otherwise I'm still sour griping on YT about this and that. Get out there and see them and be the judge. YT will never sound like a real concert venue.

The sound is definately NOT taken from the 2001 dvd. I have watched the dvd many times. The ending is totally different. Augeri did a great job. Journey is finished, at least as a credible band. I guess they can continue on as a tribute band.

i have a billion video bootlegs from 2005, and in some steve sounds awful, but in others, he just sounds amazing, but i can tell if it is live, or lip synched. Because he ad libs different, and changes some words and notes.

Dude, wake up. This is taken EXACTLY from the 2001 DVD. They edit-tooled it and wiped it off real nice in the studio, edited out the ending and gave a new ad-libbing for the end. Augeri goes from being VERY crisp, to sounding very rasp and cracking his voice during the "new ending." Give it up, I love Augeri, but this is 2001 DVD to a tee. Go look at any OTHER concert clips, they are exactly the same!

I grew up listening to Steve Perry and I saw two Journey concerts that were amazing. I was pleasantly surprised to hear Steve Augeri with Journey a few years ago and he was impressive. Great show. Perry was great and so was Augeri. Long live Journey.

I was at that show! That was so awesome how they played 2 sets (and even threw in some of the early Gregg Rolie-era stuff from the 70s as well). Journey should put out a DVD of one of those shows from the 30th Anniversary tours, since the setlists spanned the band's whole career.

I'm an Augeri Fan. Definatly. But this is lipped off the 2001 DVD no doubt. I compared the DVD to this, and it's identical. Notice the way Steve A is holding the microphone really really close to his mouth, but when he wasn't lipping he would hit high notes far away from his mouth. This is lipped.

For what it's worth, mikekawkz is right on the money. They actually started pulling that stunt before the Generations shows and used it predominately throughout '05 and the UK/ Euro shows of '06. I don't expect the diehards to ever accept it (or 'hear' what is obvious) but having kept in touch with guys who worked with J in the Augeri era (and before) I know what went on, and why.

I laugh at all the conspiracy stuff online now. Journey is made up of great musicians. Regarding Vocal Pitch Correction, the digital technology for correction has been used by ALL of the Pros since it became possible to do in a live concert scenario. You can easily correct anyone's voice that is off a few cents + / - (that would be highter (Sharp) or lower (Flat) to non-musicians) in nano-seconds.
