PLEASE POST MORE VIDEO'S ABOUT GROWING YOUR OWN TOBACCO
I use the green leaves to roll mine, I have baby plants and I am picking them to death drying them out in my microwave when I am jonesing.. It is pretty cool though... the green leaf shrinks around the tobacco. I got my seeds in the UK over the INTERNET.
I live in Virginia and I can't even get them here still smoking my mini homegrown organic cigar. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Maybe the crap the Illuminati sells is harmful and fact I am sure of it. Did you know there is over 170 chemicals and additives put in store bought cigarettes?
I do not think homegrown organic tobacco is harmful. How can something that taste so good be bad for you? Yes there are many carcinogens out there far more harmful than tobacco, and what about alcohol? I agree tho on one point the cigarette industry should be put out of business and smokers should be forced to grow their own; Ha Ha..
I am going to make my own video and show you people how to make great cigar's.
What was it hardly anyone died of cancer before 1900 or was it 1950? Cancer is a modern era disease. If you don't believe me MR PROHIBITION check it out in the mummy record in South America. Man this homemade cigar is good!
Can I have those leaves you do not use in any capacity?
I Think what you are doing is great. I just started growing my own about six weeks ago. And now I am growing them indoors under florescent light. They are doing great indoors, Furthermore for you friend that posted that tobacco is the most harmful drug. Pot is far more harmful than tobacco on your lungs and your life. Take it form a heavy drug user (now clean and sober) Pot is a gateway drug. MAKE MORE VIDEO'S! I am smoking a homegrown organic cigar right now! No B.S. chemicals!
@00matthew1993 You're correct, there are indeed more harmful drugs out there, and most of them are illegal - which is why tobacco should also be illegal. It causes over 140,000 deaths per year just in the UK. So I have no idea what you're trying to prove by appealing to other harmful drugs.
P.S. It is not hyperbole since it is responsible for said number of deaths.
@SamuraiPirate88, PART 1: Thank you for the question. Yes, you absolutely CAN grow tobacco in Illinois. In fact, you can grow it anywhere there is sunshine and reasonably warm temperatures for 90 to 120 days. I live in a climate that is not known for its sunshine, to say the least - but the summers here from June through August average anywhere from 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit and are generally dry, without much humidity. And yet, we've done fine. In addition, even when it got cold and rainy
@SamuraiPirate88, PART 2: In addition, even when it got cold and rainy in the fall last year, the plants in this video still held up fine. Granted, they did NOT do as well as in the summer - because the hours of sunlight went down "precipitously," with the rain and shorter days - but they were still producing usable, viable leaves even through October. In fact, it wasn't until we had the first actual freeze at night that all the plants died.
@SamuraiPirate88, PART 3: Now, in Illinois, your climate is much colder, and your first freeze likely comes MUCH sooner than mine. So the key to success will be to start your seeds INDOORS about 4-6 weeks before the last frost of winter, when you know that the outside temperatures at night are safely above freezing all the time. Then, make sure you have 90-120 days of good summer weather, with lots of direct sunlight on the plants, and good watering... and you should have some great plants!
@SamuraiPirate88, PART 4: The other option is to do everything indoors, which will require a grow light. Or, if you have a heated greenhouse - with temperatures no lower than the upper 30s at night - your mature plants will likely be able to winter over. However, getting the seeds to germinate will require temperatures of 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit and plenty of moisture that you spray on top in a mist.... but the mature ones will do fine - or at least survive - on lower temps.
@SamuraiPirate88, PART 5: The key to success is lots of sunlight - or a good grow light indoors. Growing your own tobacco is quite an art.... and it takes real practice to do it well. The growing part is going very well for me, but it took 2 growing seasons to get it right.... and I still haven't figured out the curing process for good flavor. But I will keep trying. That's half the fun of it - just learning along the way. Even if you don't end up with much usable tobacco,
@SamuraiPirate88, PART 6: it's still fun to grow because they are absolutely BEAUTIFUL plants with GORGEOUS flowers as they mature. I received tons of compliments from my neighbors, who had never seen tobacco growing and were very curious as to what it was. I assured them there are no laws against growing your own tobacco, and that the flowers attract lots of hummingbirds in the summer.
So good luck to you, have fun, and I hope your plants do well.
Google homegrown tobacco flavoring. Best site I've found is seedman(dot)com/flavor.htm but there are likely many others. For seeds, google tobacco seeds for sale.
@Perezr919 PART ONE, Not sure I want to get quite that "detailed" on this.... but suffice it to say I'm somewhere in the range of British Columbia, Alberta, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, northern Nevada-California or Utah..... ish. Or something like that, anyway.... Oh, and I guess I should clarify, I'm also on planet Earth... although I'm sure folks have genuinely wondered about that, at times.
@Perezr919 PART 2, In either case, "where I am" is a place where most people wouldn't think tobacco could even grow in terms of climate... but this is evidence that it can. In fact, tobacco can be grown virtually anywhere - even Alaska - so long as you get 90 days of sun (although more is better, if you can get it). Nicotiana (tobacco) is a tropical plant, and does best in warm, humid climates. But we've done fine with temps ranging from 12-30 (C), 55-85 (F), and even 6 hours sun a day.
I experimented with some plants last year and let them go until freezing. Yes they died & I just let them turn completely brown on the stack for about another month. I do smoke my tobacco and believe it or not it turned out quite well and tasty :)
(DSCN just means I haven't done that yet-and the only "title" on the video is just a random letter/number sequence assigned by the camera) But the good news is that by February/March, I should have some NEW tobacco seedlings growing for 2011,so there should be more videos coming then, as I'm hoping to document the entire process from the start.
All of my 2010 tobacco leaves have been dried now,but I'm still in the process of building a kiln so they can be cured correctly for good flavor
PART ONE: Thank you, I appreciate the encouragement. I'm disappointed that time has not allowed me to upload more.... but then again, it's winter now, so all of my plants are gone now, except for a few lucky ones I could fit in the heated greenhouse. Not to mention, before I add more videos, I need to get over to those old "DSCN" videos on my channel and finish them up by adding titles and comments.
