Hey, great video. Wondering how the BSN True Mass is as far as a carb to protein ratio is concerned? Im a hard gainer and currently supplementing with ON creatine and ON Hydro whey for post workout. what should i do?
BSN is one of the best gainers. Gainers are just protein shakes with excessive carbs and dose suggestions. What makes True Mass is the mixed proteins to give that sustained release and it has carbs but not as much as other gainers and actually has some fat unlike other gainers. Post workout is better for Protein and Carb focus which Syntha-6 is basically true mass with less fat and vice-versa.
I play Football in Highschool. I'm 6'2 245, and im trying to get the size I need to play offensive line in college. I've been using whey protein and mass gain supplements and have seen a fairly good effect, but I want to know, as far as gaining mass, while maintaining speed and quickness, what supplements in addition to eating large amounts of calories will help me reach around 260-275 pounds in 7 months
Great video. From your personal experience, is it at all possible to bulk and add muscle mass without losing the definition in my abs? As for bulking time frames, I’m going to bulk for 2 months then cut and lean out for 1 month..Any suggestions?
Which weight gain supplement would you recommend for someone with lactose intolerance problems. I was thinking of getting Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass, but ive read it can cause an upset stomach.
@musicl0v3r143 lactose intolerance is an interesting thing as you are not stuck with it. Rather probiotics (good ones) will improve your gut flora and will digest lactose for you so there would be no issues. We are pretty sure CNP Professional Pro Peptide MBF is lactose free and Allmax Quickmass has lactase (enzyme that digests lactose) added to it. You could also get a whey isolate such as Isoflex and add carbs to it. Hope this helps.
The overweight thing sitting more then a skinny person. Not in my case. I stand all 10 hrs a day on my job moving all day on the feet. But still overweight but I was eating way too much.
@ediot6969 yes there are two sides of the equation, how much you take in vs. how much you burn, if the former exceeds the latter you will gain weight. Its not a one size fits all but rather it explains most people in that case. Let us know if you have any questions, thank you for watching.
hey guys, im 23 years old and i weight around 115 to 120 pounds, i mostly eat junk food like 2 bags of hot chips a day or i can go to MacDonald and eat a big mac and be fine for the hole day, so i don't eat a lot, and eat like 1 time a day, and drink soda or water,
i just order serious mass to see if i gain weight, do you think serious mass will help out, can ok to guy out and buy 2 to 3 $1 burgers lol, i really wanna gain weight, and some fat in my face, im too skinny, thanks
would brown rice not be a much healthier than white i taught tat was a bad starch and is it alrite to have a weight gainer rite after a workout, any gainers you recammend,im currently using maximuscle progain if you no it,its europeon
@davinero white rice is better as brown rice (despite popular belief) has the bran and germ layer where the phytic acid is. Phytic acid is toxic and inhibits nutrient absorption as it is the defense mechanism of grains to stop mammals from eating it, white rice has the bran removed so its just starch, hope this helps.
@BestPriceNutrition im confused, literally how is white rice more beneficial than brown for lifters ? i just switched from white to brown, and im seeing that im a lot leaner, and strength and muscle gains are consistently going up, what am i missing here ?
@hoodfigga33 we discuss it more in depth in our video on the Paleo Diet for athletes. But the jist is that white rice has the benefit of having the bran and germ layer removed which makes it much lower in phytic acid (PA). PA is an anti nutrient as it chelates many vitamins and minerals. Small amounts are OK but you want to avoid large doses of it such as that found in brown rice. The exception is when cereal grains are fermented, in this case microbes digest the PA Hope this helps.
@BestPriceNutrition that said, brown rice still remains a staple on most bodybuilders diet, i see your point on benefits with white rice, but i can tell you from experience that it does make me fat, what other alternatives do i have for brown rice, pasta maybe ? i already take wheat bread with two of my meals but i hate repeating stuff for all my meals.
@hoodfigga33 if you ate 100g of carbs from brown rice and 100g from white rice it would not make a huge difference in terms of body fat, this is not to dismiss that fiberous carbs tend to be more filling. Glycemic index is not as big of a deal for non diabetics (except post workout, then high GI carbs are ideal) as is made out of it. Potatoes in all varieties are very good alternatives for a good source of carbs. Hope this helps.
You said you were 135 lbs younger lean im 150 lbs lean and I'm 17 does that mean I can get bigger then someone my age that has less lean body weight like your self when you were my age I just started lifting a month ago too do I'm a noob
@Kamisei85 yes he did and he is going to be doing a series of vids documenting his diet etc as he tries to drop from 255 lbs to 220 lbs, I'll be trying to tempt him into eating junk, JK thanks for watching.
@RickDawg726 we both have bachelor's degrees in science. John a Biology degree w/ a secondary education endorsement from DePaul University and Glenn in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
@JRMangelo if you are getting the proper nutrients your bones will be healthy and grow accordingly, in other words they will not be brittle, also training hard will also help the health of your skeletal system. Assuming they are not brittle then you really need to focus on soft tissue gains as you have control over it beyond just the proper nutrient for your skeletal system. the size of your skeletal does determine how much muscle you will carry however you need to maximize that. Does this help?
If I regularly spike my insulin post-workout, does it increase my chances of getting diabetes? This may be off topic, but what's the best way to absorb creatine without downing so much sugar?
@deejaymez no, getting type 2 diabetes is a product of a bad diet and lack of physical activity. You can take your creatine w/ less carbs (say ~15g) as a mild insulin spike would do the job just fine. You can do it w/ just water but a small insulin spike is more beneficial.
How bad is it to eat carbs at about 7pm for dinner and does it make a difference whether they are white or brown? I will go to sleep at about 11pm or a bit later and still get 8+ hours sleep.
@AtoZyzzyva that is fine, it really has more to do with total calories taken for the day than it does when you take them. The only time it really matters in terms of timing is post workout and for many they do not like to eat too close to bed time as they have difficulty sleeping.
Everything i've researched to find out are on this video! Keep up the good work guys. I would like to post my workout+nutrition but i'll wait at least a month to post up significant effects(though i'm already seeing them:D this is what keeps me motivated;p)
does it really matter if i eat white rice or brown rice, same Q on pasta?
i dont quite get it, the reports are all over the place. i know the GI isnt important but why would i choose lets say white rice of brown to not gain wegiht
@UpalKashey White rice / breads / processed grains are partially broken down already. (I believe so) And because of this they will spike the insulin response. Insulin has been shown to make the body hold on to fat. It also doesn't keep full as long as brown rice / whole wheat.
@TockCease LOL great username btw. see i dont think thats actually true. insulin only affects you if you are a diabetic or hypoglycemic, or if youve been starving for a few days. i know this mostly because my dad is along-time diabetic so i know alot about insulin production and lack thereof. that fact that diabetics cant produce sufficient insulin and still tend to get fat tells me that it really doesnt matter a bit. so id like real clarification.
@UpalKashey GI is important for diabetics. For healthy people not so much except post workout where high GI carbs are best. GI varies from person to person, it is changed by the presence of fat and protein. Total calories are what matters b/c if you eat say 200g of low GI carbs and on another day eat 200g of high GI carbs you will still have eaten the same number of calories. That being said we'd recommend white rice over brown b/c of issues...
@UpalKashey (cont'd)... w/ cereal grains and the bran (germ layer) of it (see upcoming vid on Paleo). White rice is just starch so that would be better and for pasta not a fan of the gluten. Hope this helps.
@geerant yes Australia is going to be one of the countries we will be shipping to. Thank you, we will likely have a coupon of sorts when we kick this off.
@UpalKashey it all depends upon the starting point, if you have trained for years and eaten well then you likely would need to eat at least as much as you are burning (a slight surplus), however if you are new to training then you can actually eat a little less than you burn (assuming you get enough protein) and still build muscle.
this is fantastic im actually eating a surplus now. and am shocked that after a month i gained only 1lb lol. i thought i was eating far more, but i think where i get lost in is how much i burn daily.
Awesome video! But, wouldn't taking weight gainer before bed spike your insulin levels (especially if they are loaded with simple sugars), thus possibly interfering with growth hormone secretion during sleep, which could result in gaining more fat than muscle. I know I'm oversimplifying, and it's much more complex than that, but I would like you guys to briefly address this issue, because it's a common concern. Thanks in advance & keep up the good work!
@Simplimax there is some truth to that, pretty sure when Glenn suggested that I told him some may not want to because they may not sleep as well which would lead to lower GH levels. Many people won't eat for up to 2 hours before bed or they will simply have a smaller meal before bed.
I used to cruise at about 160 then I discovered chocolate milk, couple years back. Now I'm 5'9 185lbs with 10 - 11% bf. I just drink a half gallon of milk ($2 a day) every day including my 3 standard breakfast, lunch and dinner. My strength gains are insane and continue to climb. What do you guys think about Chocolate milk instead of a weight gainer? It used to kill my stomach, now I swear I can drink a gallon within no time and I'm fine.
@theUSER101 you can use it if you don't have issues digesting it. It may actually be cheaper to use a powder (or mix it with your chocolate milk) on a per gram of protein basis, but if you enjoy the chocolate milk that's fine for putting on weight. Thanks for watching.
@williamweir123 sure, it really comes down to getting ~0.75-1g of protein per pound of your goal body weight and then getting enough fat and carbs to facilitate growth (exceeds the amount of calories you take in).
@NateMontoyaFit we both of Bachelor's degrees, John in Biology w/ Secondary Ed endorsement from DePaul University and Glenn in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
