I know this is an old vid, but I'd like to add what dude with the fro was saying. Japanese players get as good as they do because they have the facilities to do it. American players really have a limited system to play at actual arcades full of people, arcades that give you the best intro to what the tournaments are going to be like. Also, Japanese players have the benefit of being able to play against each other and build. America is just too spread out for that.
