  • can you take a old headphone jack out of an old ipod and use it ?

  • thaks, works just fine :)

  • What kind of screwdriver were you using? I have some mini screwdrivers but the screws are still a little small to get

  • @PapaGeorg10 Eyeglass repair kit screwdriver.

  • Ahh...too many steps. I'll just buy a new one.

  • is this the same for an 8th gen? and is it safe to open the back without damaging the ipod ?

  • Thanks very much for posting this video. One of my headphones was not working on my 30GB iPOD. I saw this video, ordered the parts above on Amazon, and it took me about 30 minutes to change. (I had a few issues with the very small screws) But, I did not pay for another iPOD so I only spent like $7. My pod is back to normal again. Yay!!!

  • I can't thank you enough for making this video. Excellent instructions Sheety

  • Sheety,

Thanks for the instructions. I followed everything you said except I use a word of caution to those who are following this video and other on an Ipod video. There was more glue or sticky stuff on the back of the battery than is shown here on my ipod. I used a screwdriver as Sheety does but since there was more glue, I forced it and punctured the battery.

Use a guitar pick or a plastic tool to pry it out so you don't have to buy a new battery like I did. $8-9 but still a pain :/

  • thank you very much! I would be lost without this video! I just purchased the parts to repair my ipod, which I love dearly, and your instructions have helped so much!! Thanks again!

  • Where do you buy the seperate part? I need another because only one works and its a 30 gb btw

  • @evilmagic43 You buy the replacement headphone jack at Amazon.com or any other online retailer. It only cost me about $7 on Amazon too! :) I just recently had to replace the battery in my iPod Video, and the battery was very inexpensive as well at only $12 on Amazon.

  • @Sheety33 is it 1) the same part for the ipod classic (80 gb) and 2) do you know where i can get it done like maby best buy or do i have to send it some were so i dont have to do it my self

  • genius..i hadnt listen to my ipod in 2 years..and was about to buy another..thanks a mil =)..made my day

  • @Nickytiti Glad the video helped you.

  • I just changed my jack ... but my Ipod doesn't seem to work any more ... it says that I should plug it to my computer and to restore it with itune ... but when I do that ... it says that there's error ... What should I do :S ?

  • Thank you so much for posting this. My iPod is back working the way it should. I would have never known or figured out how to do this on my own. Best Buy tried to tell me I needed to buy a new iPod but I knew there had to be a way. You saved me hundreds of dollars! Thanks again!

  • @blubeard07 Best Buy just wants to make money and I'm glad you at least tried this out before buying a new one. It's such an easy fix too and any part that breaks in your iPod from the head phone jack to the battery itself can be replaced for under $10 on Amazon or cheaper place online. Glad this helped!

  • question to ask you people.. iv got a problem with my headphone jack it either plays out of one or none ear-piece's, there obviously is a fault in the headphone jack and needs to be replaced. one thing i am curious about is if i will lose all my data which is on my ipod... so if someone can give me an answer it would be appreciated.....

  • can i use a 30gb 5th gen headphone jack to my 80gb 5th gen? please anybody answer my question. thank you

  • Nice vid but for your information and everyone elses it can be very dangerous for the iPod to me messing around with the circuit boards bare handed a have always been taught that any little static electricity shocks one of those components it could fry your iPod and make not usable. Just remember that if you don't want to ruin your iPod wear gloves.

  • thank you so much!

my iPod headphone jack works perfect now! :D

  • Can you make a video on How to change/replace ipod touch 2g audio jack?....

  • @CDG562 No, don't own one of those.

  • @kingStardust No, the headphone jack is a completely separate piece in your iPod, so by replacing the jack only, you will still have all of your data after the headphone jack replacement is complete.

  • can you do that to a ipod touch as well to put a new jack point in ass well are they both the same please reply back to me?
