  • why arent there movies like this anymore?

  • what song is this ?

  • I'm suprised Renee and Richard kept a straight face at 5:40.

  • "Are you Sorry?"

    "Are you Kidding?" xD Priceless!

  • Renée was a doll here, I mean literally! so adorable LOL! Fantastic actress!

  • Had to chase down the puppet number again, it's so infectious, what a great act !

  • @EverythingNicole1455 to prove to the dude his lips arent moving...:P

  • Im actually proud that I finally can sing this song with no stutters/mess ups!

    ....ohyesohyesohyestheyboth

    ohyestheyboth

    ohyestheyboth

reached forthe gun the gun the gun the gun

oh yes they both reached for the gun

    for the gun ! xD

  • 02:23

Did Roxy cut that by herself?? Damn I'm impressed, I can't even cut my bang straight!

  • There's one thing that confuses me in this movie.

Where exactly do the prisoners get their cash to bribe Mama? I wouldn't think that they took it in with them; so they couldn't have gotten it by doing favors for the other prisoners. I don't think Mama would give them money in exchange for favors, since it would just go right back to her eventually. So what is their source of income??

  • @videogamer810 good point... but then again, I have now idea how the prison system in America was set up in the 30's. They've got cigarettes inside the prison aswell. And prisoners carrying sharp scissors :)

  • @videogamer810 i think they bring money with them, and then pass it around doing favours for each other. Also, they can probably get someone visiting to bring in some money

  • @videogamer810 You know before the Casey Anthony's case, I'd never heard of something called the Jail Account. I was surprised that a prisoner could even have an account in jail. Prisoner unless has found guilty in trial, they would still be deemed as innocent, so the account could be opened through the application of the prisoner. Funds can be donated by any people like their parents, husbands or wives etc. Shocking and ridiculous really.

  • @AdvertChild98 Well, that does explain it, but...

Shocking and ridiculous? Actually, it makes a whole lot of sense. Until you're found guilty, you ought to at least retain the right to your own property. You need to be able to pay for a lawyer to represent you. Plus, it's still your own money. Now if you were allowed to keep spending after being found guilty, that would be another issue entirely.

  • "Are you sorry?"

    "....Are you kidding?"

  • thats one of my favorite songs in the entire movie (:

its then one i remember the most and the song i was looking for when i looked up this movie (:

    oh, chicago <3

  • Roxxy: "god that was beautiful"....Billy:"cut god out of it....stay where you better acquainted with."

  • renee zellwegger and catherine zetha jones didnt get along :P

so tht why its looks soo real when velma doesnt like roxy

  • @seanmelia123 Oh my God really? Why...I like them both in this movie.! LOL I just tough they where great actress lol...But Zetha Jones rock in this movie.!

  • <3 IT!!!

  • My favorite part

  • "its all defencaBULL" ;)

  • I am amazed by Renee's performance in this! U go girl!!!

  • We did "they both reached for the gun" @ a camp I did. It was great! Our billy/Roxie combo was as good as this:)

  • I love how momma gives her a bottle of hairdye and then you see her putting in on with some poor shmoe's toothbrush.

  • @Masqueradia that wasn't hair dye the was peroxide

  • Who's Sophie Tucker? o____o"""

  • @narutofreak19999 she's a very famous vaudville star

  • Roxie is the perfect doll, she does a great job!!

  • "Cut out 'God.' Stay where you're better acquainted."

  • awh did anyone notice it was the hunyak that was doing her laundry, like the way roxie used to when velma was the big celebrity. makes you wonder where roxie would have ended up if flynn hadn't of stepped in...it's all a vicious cycle as the new murderesses come in and steal the spotlight.

  • "Which is it, is it the moth or the butterfly?" :)

  • "Like the one I was playing when I shot the bastard."

    "I didn't hear that..."

God, I love Richard Gere. He's brilliant in this movie :)

I love the back and forth they have trying to get her story straight it's so funny.

  • BOTH REACHED FOR THHHHHE GUUUUN!

Hold that note Richard, you have a gorgous vocie :)

  • @GreenDaysSuperHero a good actresss !! can play lots of different roles

  • I find it hard to believe that Renne Zellweger was Bridget Jones! She's so graceful in this movie and so ladylike!

  • @almostemilie its also so hard to believe shes so skinny in this movie, she had to go up 8 dress sizes for briget jones diary 2

  • @almostemilie Yeah she gained a LOT of weight for Bridget Jones.

  • Well... It's the first time I watch this movie... and I'm lovin it so far, but this scene/song is the most amazing/creative part. I've listened to Chicago's soundtrack a lot before (I think i became a musical addict... XD), and this song was one of my favorites. I'm happy to see how awesome the actual scene is in the movie.

  • "ugly guys like to do that" haha I so agree...

  • it's so hard to choose a favourite song from this musical because they are all so fantastic.. so this is one of my favourites! My favourites being every single song in this musical lol

  • the concept of We Both Reached for the Gun is really cool

  • when is this movie suppose to take place?

  • I believe 1920s

  • @urafunnykid8D the play the musical was based on was published in 1926 based on two famous murder cases from 1924. However, the clothes fashions in this movie are from the late '20s. Also, during the opening number "All that Jazz" Velma mentions Charles Lindbergh's solo trans-Atlantic flight, which occurred in May 1927. That said, the movie most likely takes place between mid-1927 and before the stock market crash in October 1929. So my guess is 1928.

  • 6:37 pause and look at Renee's hair lol. I was pausing to listen to a certain line and I saw that.

  • - lmao ; you get a doll after you just for killing a man (:

  • never understood why he got a glass of milk

  • because he is showing that he is drinking a glass of milk WHILE singing

  • @anthonyrawly have you ever seen a ventriloquist act? The man holding the dummy in his lap does the talking for both of them and one of his tricks is usually to drink a glass of milk while the puppet keeps on talking. It's supposed to wow the audience 'cause they know he provides the voice for the dummy, but when they see him chugging a glass of milk and the puppet keeps chatting away, they become perplexed as to how he does that.

  • Love the way Roxie says : "Are You Kidding" I love roxie....*

  • Awesome!

  • i love this! best scene in the movie, the choreography and drama is fantastic! i can neva get bored of this song!

  • amnit ive heard of this film for like ever and I can't beleive I've only just started to watch it, I LOVE this film, its really my thing.

  • America is not weird. It's one of the greatest place ever. I would know because I live here.

  • Both reach for the gun is my second favorite act!!!!

    Roxie is my First :D

  • brilliant choreography. love it

  • srsly. I love this movie mainly for that reason.

  • I love Roxie's hair.

  • Whoa! CZJ smoked while pregnancy.. okay maybe she didn't inhale but..

  • you know they have cigarettes that don't have nicotin in them for stage purposes?

  • They don't have nicotine though. They're made for the movies and stuff.

  • Thanks for the info, I didn't know that.

  • Your welcome :)

  • the marionette and ventriloquism was genius for this part!!!!!!!!

  • During the song, you can see him carefully avoiding grabbing her boob when they are dancing during "understandable, understaaandlable"

  • I said that before when I watched that vid before xD

  • i love this movie

its nice to see renee zellweger's eyes for once! :)

  • Take a peek at the jury and flash them a bit of thigh! lmao!!!

  • My ex boyfriends favorite scene is the one with the dummys. normaly he hates musicals but he loved Chicago and he like clapped his hands and smiled like a kid in a toystore during this one. He thought it was geniuos, Wich I also think...

  • why do you care too much about ur X's favorite scene ?

  • maybe cus I wrote that like three weeks after he dumped me, or because I proved a point, to him that day I showed him Chicago. Since he is the 'videogame-playing' Bloody-war-movie kinda guy.... And he said I couldn't find a musical he would like

  • i love this! i accidently rated it 1 star cuz i was trying to pause the video, but i just wanted to say that i didnt mean it!!!! i luv chicago!!

  • Has anyone else noticed the similarties between the chorus of They Both Reached For The Gun and the Lollipop Guild [from the Wizard of Oz]?

  • not really.. i even went to look up the lollipop guild as a refresher..clarify? lol im not saying youre wrong,i just dont hear it

  • Mmm, maybe it isn't the Lollipop guild, lol. I don't remember, anymore.

I just know when they go 'Understandable, understandable

    Yes it's perfectly understandable

    Comprehensible, Comprehensible

    Not a bit reprehensible

It's so defensible" It reminds me of something of Wizard of Oz lol

  • haha ok maybe ill have to check it out later. i might work :)

  • gives a new meaning to "working the crowd" lol....love this scene!

  • Some of my friends got together and did the puppet show at a broadway contest!!!

  • lol I want a Roxie doll.

  • i dont get the last part when the reporter and the lawer sing

    "undestandable"

    lol explain.

    but i <3 this part

  • It's understandable that they both reached for the gun and she got it first so she shot him.

So it's understandable that she shot him.

    I think. lol

  • mary sunshine the reporter thinks there's good in everyone and billy is explaining how easy the case will be.

  • I remember the seniors at my old high school did this and they were amazing. The girl who played Roxie was petite, and so she was really easy to "throw around" for the 6 foot something Billy xD It was awesome and they won first place :)

  • the puppets are brilliant!!!!!

  • the puppet master HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

  • Aaah I love this song! I sang mary sunshine :) My friend was roxy :) Best song ever :D

  • this song must've been so hard to choreograph, not to mention perfom! i have so much respect for those dancers/singers!

  • "Cut out God - stay where you're better acquainted" *lol*
