repeated myself there but my point is i believe in moderation, drinking soft drinks occasionally would be best to not get fat, increase risk at diabetes and other health issues. I will preface this saying i myself need to practice this, i'm not in great health but neither i am woefully ill just someone who enjoys the fizzy stuff but knows too much can be a bad thing. Clearly you have no love for it whatsoever, fair enough but i dont think i could stop drinking them for all my life but i know
Soft drinks by nature are sweet, sugary beverages which contain acids and chemicals which arent good for you, diet sodas also have chemicals which can play havoc with your health as well. Sugar free drinks are probably the best, but i'm sure there's issue with them as well. Do drinking softies in large quanities bad, yes i'm pretty sure people know that, but seeing all the stuff that goes in them also shows why there bad. Saying that i cant in all honesty say soft drinks suck, i do like them.
Soft Drinks by nature are sweet, sugary beverages which have acids and chemicals in them which are probably not the best for you. Diet and Sugar free sodas also have chemicals that can cause health concerns for you. Do Soft Drinks suck, in all honesty can't say that, i happen to like soft drink i know drunk in large quanities, of course it's bad, alot of the mass produced softies have all that acidic chemicals that can eat away at your teeth and give you diabetes, obesity and kindey disease.
The idea that stopped me from drinking soda was that I realized I wouldn't want to take 42 grams of sugar in spoonfuls and drink 8 fl oz of water, but I was essentially doing that by drinking soda.... that and the last time I drank soda, it was like I could feel my teeth dissolving. It is very interesting to hear the science behind what makes it so bad though.
Have you ever seen the movie, Fat head? It's amazing. You should watch it if you haven't already. He talks about this type of thing - your references to sugar and insulin.
Actually, fructose -- especially HIGH fructose -- is much harder for the body to metabolise than the higher-glucose content found in just plain corn sugar.
I enjoyed the video a lot. But you look just as unhealthy as the rest of North America. So either you don't live a completely healthy lifestyle (like most of us) or the healthy lifestyle you are possibly living is not a very effective one. This isn't meant to be an ad hominem attack against you, as I like your videos. Sorry for the poor punctuation.
True, I look like hell in this video. And the reason I give is that I was living in the last of my three years of miserable, dank hellishness in the Pacific Northwest.
I have recently moved from there, back to the east coast, where it is much more akin to my natural way of being. My mood and body are already starting to change back to a state of prior health.
Go to your sink with toilet paper, and scrape the faucet, and look at it. I've done this and found mold on it, the only exception *seems to be* the kitchen sink, I live in a decent, clean house. So I don't think I'm alone here. So do the Tea/soda/water/whatever factories have this?
I once saw an episode of The Magic School Bus, where everyone turns into water, and when the go thru a faucet Arthur(I think thats his name) says its gross, and this point is never mentioned later in the episode. WHY!
Great video... lot of points to think about, Im currently Homebrewing a Homemade beverage and was considering using phosphoric acid in small doses... But I think I'll deffinatley try it without first.
Not sure how big of a success its been but Pepsi recently released a drink called PepsiRAW (0% Artificials). Seems to replace H3PO4 with tartaric and lactic acids ? Would like to hear any comments you might have. thanx.
I'm not sure why they use phosphoric acid in sodas -- perhaps it's to give sodas some "bite" or something -- but I do know that human physiology has a pH buffering system designed to keep the general blood and tissue pH around 7.365, largely accomplished through rate of respiration and general hydration, by the creation of bicarbonate ion from carbon dioxide and water, if I remember correctly.
I imagine that you can stress this system with too much acidity in the tissues.
makes me laugh how people can read this and still drink it, ive stopped drinkin that shit for bout a year and you can tell the difference, and benzene is an active ingredient in cigerretes so why doesnt everyone stop smoking if they knew this, because they make it addictive so we dont and they still get there money, it wudnt harm them to actuallly makes things that wernt bad for us ?
christ! I had no idea, I knew it was a bad drink to cnsume due to chemicals but I had no idea what they actually did...I am addicted, I need to quit though, I'm going to find alternate
Read some of the other comments in the comments section of this and Part 1, where another guy posts about how the benzoate in certain soft drinks actually reacts with the vitamin C in aspartame, to create benzene, which is highly carcinogenic.
Im drinking a can of Sunkist right now and i have to say all this talk of degrees and celcius and such is turning me off it....i prefer Solo anyways...
Oh, okay. Well, someone else in here posted that when sodium benzoate is used as a preservative in a number of these sodas (such as Mountain Dew, I believe), that the benzoate half (which is the de-acidified portion of benzoic acid) combines with vitamin C to create pure benzene... and benzene is insanely, horrendously carcinogenic.
Sodas low pH is a problem if you are do not absorb calcium. You require calcium to reduce stomach or soda acid. Generally, your stomach will not produce any more acid then it can reduce. Activated pepsin will digest the small intestine, the pH needs to go up above 4 to swich off the digestive stomach enzymes.
most corn syrups are derived from genetically modified corn. Geneically modified corn may be undigestable. Undigested food is highly poisonous to lifeforms.
Yeah, I've been reading about how the genetically-modified crops actually can't be broken down properly by the human digestive system OR reasonable cooking temperatures.
...In fact, there's a video here on YouTube from a documentary on GMO soy and, apparently, it doesn't get broken down until 200 degrees Celsius or something, which is insane...especially when you consider that water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
It turns out that the statin drugs operate on the premise that it's immune cells which lay down the fatty deposits that clog arteries, and so statin drugs suppress immune function to lower cholesterol plaques.
But guess what? One of the jobs of the immune system is to kill off cancer cells that pop up. So if you suppress it, cancer can develop much more easily.
i think this is the first time i've heard you drop the f bomb. well done, nice to meet the real logic junkie. thanks for the info on why soda is garbage. i recently banned it from my house, and my wife and step-son probably think im insane... however, i knew it was expensive and shit for us. i've switched over to juice... although im not sure its much better!?!
Well, juice is probably a lot better, but, still, sugar is sugar. However... it's a damn sight better than soda.
I would say it might be best to dilute the juice somewhat, just so the overall sugar intake isn't so high. Also, lemon juice in water is amazingly good for you... the citric acid is a powerful anti-microbial and anti-calcification agent, so it might prevent hardening of the arteries and premature aging.
And, also, for a sweetener, look into agave syrup...
Very good. Although I do not drink soft drinks, I find lemonade works great if you feel sick. I think the carbonated liquid fizzes all the gunk from the stomach. If I have a hangover (hardly ever), I drink a pint of lemonade. Of course it doesn't have to be lemonade, I'm sure carbonated water is just as effective.
i liked part 1, you kinda lost me on part 2... you should repost your blood type diet video. i've been reading about that, but i'm not convinced of the science behind it.
Lots of soda can lead to kidney stones and urinal problems. I'm a big rebel against sodas but i'll unfortunately revert to them when i'm deprived of my juices, teas, and all that water derived goodness. Sometimes i'm just too lazy to go to the store. Most, or all sodas contain red, blue 40 (most junk foods) which is this liquified coal or something. Red 4 is like this color dye made from crushed beetles I believe. Good topic to cover! Sodas do a horrible job at quenching your thirst anyway!
