Good for Asante to remind Black artists of Robson's wisdom concerning the direction art expression should take.
Regurgitating garbage from a broken society uplifts no one; instead, it only serves to increase the garbage; and that promotion of the negatives should be avoided.
I don't think its right for us as a people to go around professing that we are the most unappreciated (i.e. "We have the shortest heritage month... blah, blah") when in true fact we have the longest history with the largest time to spand 365Black!!
It is for African people to appreciate themselves; and to hell with the opinions of known historical enemies.
After all, your enemies are not expected to say nice things about you? Your enemies are expected to say nasty things about you, expected to not appreciate you?
I believe that many African-Americans profess love for the heritage in speech and refuse to put that speech into lively action that is the main reason for my statement
'Professing the love' can be the first way of showing and living the love, just as naming 'keeper of the tradition' was a way to inspire Asante, Jr to promote the heritage as he matures.
Don't be so hard on those we think are only 'professing the heritage'; maybe that is all they can do for now.
Those who can and indeed do more, will inspire the 'professors' to live the heritage even more.
Minds/lineages that have been enslaved for generations can have a 'long way' back to living the heritage
Asante Sana, for all your efforts & struggles and please keep on keeping on as we NEED to Ra-Member Ourselves By Any MEDIUM Necessary as U put it so eloquently.
Everyone please check out the films THE BLACK CANDLE & 500 YEARS LATER for yourselves & others... in our schools, in our homes, in our neighborhoods on the blocks... trust me, I've done it, we're doing it... they want & NEED it and are asking for MORE! Let's not disappoint them now... or ever again!
great insight, continue your mission to feed our people with knowedge of our richness of our culture.proud to see u young brotha with great interest and intelligence.
