You were in economy right? Business class is usually the top deck. Also, I'm not sure if this was a policy in 2005, but now, Air China's seating policy is that you get your seating assignment during check-in at the airport, not online. Now, do they give you a seat or do you pick your own seat according to availability? If it is according to availability, then is it like first come first serve, so if you're first in line, you have the opportunity to the frontmost economy chair?
@EmadIV But still, PW and RR did a great job in pioneering early turbojet and turbofan engines while GE was still behind in 1950s. On A330, I choose PW engines over RR and GE, and for Boeing 777, I choose RR over PW and GE, and on 747, I choose GE over RR and PW.
Yes. That's absolutely right. But also, I filmed the starting and landing sequences at every single flight I did. Nothing happend. Hey, I also forget to turn off my cellphone during the WHOLE last flight I did... guess what happened... ;o)
You can recognize the engines by (1) looking at the nacelle. That is the cover housing that holds the engines. You can be that the wing attachments are rounded, not straight like the GE. So its not GE. Then, the back of the engine does not look like that of the RR engines. The RR engines come to a stop at the end without any further engine, due to the wide opening at the end. So that only leaves on engine, the PW. Look at pictures and you will see.
Absolutely love the 747-400 wing. Possibly one of the most efficient in aviation behind the 777 and the A380. Plus, it's great flexing abilities means it never gets boring to watch. Getting to watch two giant turbofans producing 60,000 pounds of thrust is a treat too. These are PW engines.
Those are Pratt and whitney, yes...you can tell by the inlet that they are. Lufthansa 744s are GE powered...compare them to these and you will see the difference. And yes, the GEs have a different noise to them.
Nothing quite like a 747 taking off. Love those engines. The 744 IMO is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever designed. It will be sad to see them go when they do.
hmm boring.
was hoping for an explosion.

I find it amazing how the wing and engines wobble about freely-it looks as if there is a loose screw. Thumbs up if you agree!

If you say so. I'm glad you like it. Ner thought of such high positive response to this vid. I'm thinking of posting ALL my "Take off" videos? *lol*
GraveDee 2 years ago
Yeah, do it! i really like commercial aviaton and commercial airplanes :) So it would be nice :D
roxetterc747 2 years ago
Whatever... I bet none of you could feel the differenz between one of thoes engines, if he's sleeping like a baby in the middle row of the jet.
So, what's the problem? In first case, this thing has to work. Everything else... pah! ;-)

I prefer General Electric engines on Boeing 747
raykrislianggi 2 years ago 4
@raykrislianggi
I second that! GE-CF6s are the most stable engines IMO, never heard of a crash due to them unlike the Trent 895s on the 777-200ER!

graveDee i thought all electrnoics were to be turned off before takeoffs and landings?
Tyrannien96 3 years ago
So what? ;-)
GraveDee 3 years ago
on all flights i've been onboard, the flight attendants would go round and check if all meal tables are kept, and electronics turned off.
they said electronics are to be turned off as it may affect the communications between the aircraft and the airport.
