He's singing about existential crises (hence the mention of Sartre who is of course an existentialist). He's singing about the realization that he will one day age and die. He experiences feelings of sudden dread when thoughts about life not existing if it was not because people created the societies that they live in crosses his mind.
My husband died almost 3 years ago from pheo adrenal carcinoma (he was 33.) He used to sing this song to me jokingly, CTD's were one of his favorite groups.
Once I was rumaging through my dads old cd's (I swear he has thousands:D) and I saw this and I was like: 'hmm, this'll be a laugh if nothing else...didn't realise how addictive it was gonna be :D
@bhambee82 Everything is going fabulous! and I could not agree more with you, I treasure all songs on the album and I still cannot get tired of listening to it
Cunts like you need to get the fuck over Bieber and Hannah Montana, they never even enter my mind until dickheads like you post about them on good musicians youtube clips, fuck off and leave us all alone you loser.
You have a foul mouth, a nasty disposition and the vocabulary of a stunted baboon. Just because someone doesn't share your taste in music is no excuse to be verbally abusive. At least shaneinkster didn't resort to further abuse in his reply to you, so credit to him for that. I, however, am of a less generous disposition, and felt you needed a more robust admonition. So please, don't make any more posts until you've raised your intellect to the level of a gibbering moron. Best wishes,
@shaneinkster Ouch. It stings me to see you list The Cars with the rest of that dreck. Benjamin Orr's (tragically) riddled corpse has more talent than any of their ilk.
Every album CTD's put out is a must own, it is so easy to sit and listen to them over and over. Its amazing how you pick up something new every time you hear it.
Very, very special and emotional, even now six years after I played (and sang along) this album time and again while carriying my then 4 months old son in my arms to get him to sleep, while he went through 6 rounds of chemo therapy to cure him from cancer (which succeeded!). This album is forever tied to the toughest period in my life and my son still calms down completely when he hears these songs.
@GoldenTurtoise That is great! I really hope things are well for you and your son! I have ALWAYS loved CTD! Every song is a rare gem that cannot be replaced!
@GoldenTurtoise I understand your sentiment. I listened to this CD constantly after my father passed away when I was a teenager. There is something uplifting that helps even in our darkest hours. Good luck to you and your son!
@MATTWESTUK Thank you! This CD has become a token of strenght for me, where it apparantly supported you through a tough time as well. I hope you have found peace in accepting the loss of a parent way too early
@heashon2000 Yes you can. What I learned was that we all have powers we are not aware of, powers which show themselves when life really puts you to the test. But of course I treasure your blessing! Thank you
@GoldenTurtoise your message of hope and determination has touched me greatly, i have the upmost respect for you and am so overjoyed that all is now well, this song uplifts me so much, i wish you all the love in the world xxx
@GoldenTurtoise How can someone dislike this? They honestly have no sympathy for people in need, I hope I don't meet too many of these kinds of people, congratulations on your sons recovery. :)
@thecrackfoxxxxx You do not have a choice when you stand there really. Try considering the alternative, can you imagine not being there for your son? You can't, I am sure. I wrote earlier I discovered powers within myself, which I did not know I had. You will have them too, but I hope sincerely you never need to find out!
