I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVE this song couldn't find it anywhere!!!! Thank god for this video and conversion sites or i may have never gotten in onto my ipod goddammit!! lol
This song was written, arranged and produced by TTD and was never sung by Presley et al. They sung a variation of the traditional American song about Frankie and Johnny (where Frankie kills Johnny for sleeping with another woman.) It is the film's title that makes reference to the traditional song and why TTD's work shares the same name.
First released in 1904 and in a more contemporary version in 1925. It was sung by Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Stevie Wonder. But also by Duke Ellington, Count Basie and many others. But let's all agree that this TTD version kind of takes it to A WHOLE NEW LEVEL! Check out the wikipedia entry, is nice.
Thanks so much for posting! Just wondering, is this the official video? If not, was there one? The song's lyrics and melody match the movie perfectly! TTD..one of the greatest R&B singers/songwriters/artists of all time.
