Nice tutorial. May I ask what fisheye lens you are using? Is it better to have a lens that just makes the circles (with black border) or the type that fills the sensor?
@jaredarm Hi, it's better to have one that makes a partial circle - if you hold your camera in portrait orientation, the top and bottom of the frame will have a circle (and see straight up and down). the left and right will be image (and see about 60º to the left and right). This lets you make a full sphere in 4 shots.
If you get a "fullframe fisheye" - that's a fisheye lens that fills the sensor - that's ok too but you'll need to take more pictures.
How did you make panhead? Do you have a tutorial on how to make one. Would you be willing to make one for a price? (long shot of a question but I thought i'd try)
@skatingbdmsallday Yes :-) it work (more or less) the same if you take more than 4 shots.
To give you more detail than you might want: if your shots overlap more than 50%, there is a chance that not only the adjacent shots will be matched, but also the next image as well (so image 1 & 2, and 1 & 3 will be matched) this can make errors in the panorama because it affects the calculation of lens distortion. so, best to shoot with less than 50% overlap. Again, this is more detail than you need ;-)
Hi, I have a question: If I use a full frame camera should I take the pictures in portrait orientation too? is it ok in horizontal position?
