Really good movie! Truly a testament to what the Henson Company could really do. I'm also impressed that there wasn't a single human character in this movie. Thanks for uploading!
This is movie is epic. I remember watching it when i was little and being a little frightened and amazed at the same time. Still does is for me. It has a beautiful story line and I personally like the puppets, it has an a=old school feel and shows that you don't need all the stuff we have today to make a great film.

@dreamingincolor4ever I can appreciate good when I see it. Like Avatar, good. And you know why, besauce it used Computer Graphics. This movie, not good. Wanna know why, it used stupid puppets. The Robot Chicken version of this is ten times better. If they remade this movie with Computer Graphics and not puppets, then it would be good. The story line was good, just the puppets killed the movie.
@FuzzyRabbit2 I completely disagree. I've seen so many movies (like the new Star Wars) where the graphics just killed the movie. No plot. No characters--killer graphics. But no soul.
This movie has a soul, and so it will always beat soul-less movies. And that goes regardless of whether or not you like puppets.
Besides, I think the physical dimension of the movie is wonderful. I can watch this movie and wonder "how did they do that?" With new movies, I can easily dismissed them. "Green screen."
@carlotta4th WTF are you talking about with "soul" or no characters, or no plot? All the new Star Wars movies had soul characters and a plot, maybe your just to retarded to realize it. And on the category of Star Wars, The original 3 Star Wars movies did not use green screen, AND THOSE MOVIES KICKED ASS! Its not all about green screen. Its about computer graphics. So dont talk to me about soul. The movie blowed big chunks. Thats the Fact, live with it.
@FuzzyRabbit2 Well, I guess we're just going to have to disagree, because I try not to insult people with varying opinions. You may think differently than I do, but that's fine. You keep your opinions, and I'll keep my own.

A lot of people have mentioned how creepy this movie is to them. As vibrosnor said it is about a world that is "nothing like ours."
But I think another reason may be because it makes one think of things like time and destiny and the future-all things that are sort of unknowns- and the unknown scares people.

this was one of my favorite movies growing up. though, the guys at the end always confused me. 8 or 9 ancient guys are merged into superbeings. then they leave, saying: thanks for the help, now we leave you to your own devices as we go to the solar eclipse. have fun! sounds sort of irresponsible to me.
Jim Henson is still one of the best puppeteers ever. This movie was great. While it did seem a little short, I enjoyed it very much. It is a great example of the fantasy genre, along with The Lord of the Rings.

such a fantastic movie, from a lost but not forgotten age of film making... thanks again for uploading! now i look forward to the power of the dark crystal!
thanks for uploading this. I really wanted to see this movie after seeing the hillarious parody robot chicken. I can't wait for "The Power of the Dark Crystal" to be released in 2011. The conceptual art looks stunning.
Thanks Beth. This has always been a favorite flick for me, and I just watched this with my 6 yr old daughter. She enjoyed just as much as I did when I was her age. Thanks again!
This is one of my absolute favorite films ever, ever since first seeing it as a young girl. I recently got the book "The World of the Dark Crystal" as well as the original Marvel comic based on the film from when it first was released in 1982. Does ANYONE know for sure when the sequel will be made? And be released?
I saw this movie in the theatre when I was a kid. I hadn't been so impressed with a movie! I memorised every scene and told my friend Laura all about it for a week on our way to school on the bus. I seriously thought Jen & Kira were real people! LOL I remember asking my older siblings who played them. They looked at me and asked, "You thought those were REAL people!?!?" I honestly did. I thought the other characters were puppets but those two were real. They laughed at me for weeks!
this IS a truly special movie. Im a mom now, and it kinda worries me to watch this with my kids (ages 13&9) but i know i watched this when i i was like 6 n it was intense, but the intensity is what stuck with me for over 25yrs, im 31 now! this movie n the Last Unicorn are the epitome of my childhood in cinemagraphic form! i get the chills and tear up with every blessed memory of my childhood's best achieved fantasies!!!
I cannot believe someone else remembers The Last Unicorn! My sister use to watch that movie constantly! I ask friends during nostalgic conversations if they remember this, Return to Oz, Little Nemo Dream Master, and The Last Unicorn, and I always get a "No, never heard of those movies." This movie use to disturb but intrigue me. For a long time I thought the images from this movie were all just nightmares I had when I was young lol. Found out at the age of 15 that they really existed!
holy shit! yeah I do! honestly I could not remember the name of that dragon movie with the scientist at the end screaming rules of science, and the bad sorcerer guy with the dragons coming out of his back. I couldn't remember the name until you said that, but yes I remember Flight of Dragons.
Really good movie! Truly a testament to what the Henson Company could really do. I'm also impressed that there wasn't a single human character in this movie. Thanks for uploading!

However, im not optomistic. This movie is just shy of perfection, so the sequel has a lot to live up to.

There is nothing symbolic about circles & triangles-they are used as they are simple shapes, same with the swastika.

This is one of my absolute favorite films ever, ever since first seeing it as a young girl. I recently got the book "The World of the Dark Crystal" as well as the original Marvel comic based on the film from when it first was released in 1982. Does ANYONE know for sure when the sequel will be made? And be released?

there is a sequel in planning called the power of the dark crystal or something like that, its being a mix of cgi and puppets
and it says that it's coming out 2011 but there hasn't been anything else but that

For some reason, I don't know why, this movie reminds me of the game Zelda.

I was watching this and thinking "Someone could make a really convincing Link To The Past movie using the audio and visuals from this movie."

this IS a truly special movie.

Have you ever seen the movie Flight of Dragons?
calderwis 2 years ago
holy shit! yeah I do! honestly I could not remember the name of that dragon movie with the scientist at the end screaming rules of science, and the bad sorcerer guy with the dragons coming out of his back. I couldn't remember the name until you said that, but yes I remember Flight of Dragons.
