It is russian sung with a rural accent. Looks few pages back into the comments, someone has posted the russian (cyrillic) lyrics and also the corresponding english transliteration.
@sreedharanmv - ur students probably are not russians =) This is Russian ethnic song singing mostly in old Russian language, but every Russian understands it =)))

@TheMetroRockTV - this is how it's sounds but with wrong grammer coz how we wright sometimes differs from how we pronounce it =) sometimes we wright "o" and read "a" =)
Hats off to the creator of this. I woke up with a huuuuge head ache at 5am and the first thing that I saw was this video sent to me by a friend. I am still laughing my ass off and I must have watched it atleast 50 times today. I cannot believe the creativity & effort put into this. Thanks a Million!. Thanks for doing this to entertain the malayalam generation who can read and understand malayalam.
Hi Vidhu... thanks for the translation... enjoyed it. Chinthabharam could be translated as 'worry' .. thus: "Worrying in the road and Maoism in the house" ;-)
wow..wow..wow..this is superrrrrr.. I just can't stop laughing..you are amazing...pls continue to do more stuff like this.. Chackochan simply rocksssss
going again,-after a reminder, russian "E" is actually spelt "ye"-so haazhu ya pa oolitse(oolitse is almost silent)nye nahozhuisya.(here the interval between nye and nahozhuisya is very short.)now try again chackochaa.if u get the first line i,ll try on next.when this allover ill tell the meaning.i,m loving it!!!!!
Ashikram!!!... Njaan sullittu!! (ഞാന് സുല്ലിട്ടു) , I tried my best and still the first stanza is too quick to follow! :-) .. I also tried to copy paste your cyrillic into the transliterators ... no Luck!
glad u can follow the chorus.the prob is with the word "ZH" in russian it is ж,it doesnt has an equivalent in english, almost similiar to french "je".so ni nahozhuisya,+ the pronunciation is called starorusski-its difficult+this is a folk song,so wont be having a strict phonetic guideline.but again i,ll do the best to explain
a little interruption ppl,i,ll post the meaning soon in next post.meanwhile its time to churn the lyrics-chernie is spelt chorni-means black.hazhu-is haazhu,"A" is long.ill make the necessary corrections of phonetics as well soon.
Thanks ashikram!. Reading the phonetic latin lyrics, I can follow the chorus very well. The first verse still only in Malayalam :-). "nahozhuisya" I can hear it in no other way than "Chackochan"!!!!... thanks for your effort
rpt brovi moi brovi-2 times.its a simple russian folk song about a girl katyusha-a call name for name Ekaterina and her gorgeous black eyebrows.sounds great, right ppl)this youtube wont allow me to post it fully in one piece.but i,ll do my best.
here i go..lyrics r in 1st part, meaning on next- Hazhu ya pa oolitse,ni nahozhuisya Oi ni nahozhuisya glyazhu ya na milava,ni naglyazhuisya Oi ni naglyazhuisya ### brovi moi brovi brovi moi chernie, ni davali brovi na ulitsy viichi, ni davali ni davali drooga uvidali Pashyol pashyol milinki,a v dol po silu A v dol pa silu A v krainom to dvorkye, devka harosha Oi katyusha dusha
A Suggestion: can you make another version of this with "Manglish" subtitles. There are several people that I know who understands malayalam but cant read it or cant read it that fast (the ones who can hardly read the bus sign boards in Kerala)
hi chackochaa-gr8 man-its actually-brovi moi brovi moi chernie,ni davali brovi na ulitsy viiti,ni davali ni davali druga uvidali:)pappiyammavan is-hozhu ya po ulitse-ni nahozhuisya.but done a gr8 job.i laughed n got stomach pain.cos its a very familiar song for me.heard it many time b4 but never heard the hidden malayalam.hats off to you.if some body wants i,ll post the real russian lyrics+the meaning of the song next time.enjoy every1
Hi drashikram!... Glad to find a Mallu who can understand Russian. I am really looking forward to you posting the original russian lyrics and the translation. I had googled for the lyrics, but never found it...
Thanks 3tz! I listened here to a lot of (non-English) music to find one that had phonetic ressemblance to Malayalam and had a catchy tune. Search ended in Russian. Next step was the technical challenge of Malayalam subtitling: used Varamozhi to write Mal. and Windows Moviemaker to subtitle. I had to listen to short clips (1-2sec) of the song in repeat play mode to make out the 'Malayalam' within!. Last step was to make coherent the lyrics. Hope this explains the making of Chackochaaa!
Indeed, I also never expected it to be such a big hit among Malayalees... just made it out of curiosity if phonetic translation (aka buffalaxing) works in Malayalam
Regarding the song's popularity, Chackochaaa, I reckon there'd by only a few mallus on cyberspace who don't know of this gem! A great hit in campuses too.
