On this tour, I saw Madonna in Philadelphia (July 4th's show). As soon as this song started, I went ballistic.

Actualy, she thought about that. But then she changed to ReInvention Tour. And in The Beast Within (the first song of the tour) where she´s wearing the red dress she´s personificating the whore of Babylon from the Bible.

She´s just playing a charactor. Like any actor who plays a charactor. She doesn´t worship the devil. She´s talking about peace, brotherhood, war, politics, religion. Sometimes she plays 2 opposite charactors to make a point. As in her ¨Like a Virgin¨ video, where she plays the whore and the virgin.

Sometimes she plays the hero and sometimes the villain, but you can´t take everything she does in a litterally way. She often plays with symbols and metaphors. There is a beautiful meaning behind.

this is the song that made me LOVE Madonna in the first place. i will NEVER forget the girl laying in the middle of the road with the white dress and dark roots cooing that she was "on fire". this performance makes me love that girl all over again.
