One more thing, I did 3 years, 1 year, and a couple other months here and there. The first time was the shortest, and of course the last time was the 3, because shit is progressive. It wasn't because I "figured out I could do time", it was because punishment doesn't get to the underlying problem. I never thought I was untouchable, I just didn't have any real options other than doing whatever I could to keep my head above water. The longer they locked me up, the less I had to come home to.

If you have a felony or criminal record your fucked. You have no other choice, but crime. No ones going to hire you. You might not be able to live in certain places etc. So it's not necessarily being able to hang in jail. Being locked up is a cycle.

I would be all for corporal punishment, if it wasn't for the information I've read. Apparently, housing and feeding, is less then a fourth of what it cost to execute that prisoner. Given we house more prisoners than we execute, I don't know how that all adds up, but over all, I was for it, until I found out the cost. You can always Google it for the exact amount.

He should be charged as an adult and he should get life. It is NOT a child. If you are old enough to rob ppl and kill them, you should be punished. At 13 you know what you are doing.
The reason we have kid killers now is bc we treat them like kids and let them get away with it. In Canada we have the young offenders act...which is abused grossly...its a joke. This is a miscarriage of justice.

At 11, 12, 13... I knew exactly what I was doing and knew if it was right or wrong and suspected there would be consequences that would follow.... As the man said... he did a "grown man" thing.... Should it be life? I'm not entirely sure... i think the prison system as a whole completely lacks any kind of rehabilitation to live in civilized society... So... i dont have much confidence that this kid will come out of it rehabilitated... they could be releasing a murderer that would do it again.

Exactly why I disagree with this young offenders act shit. Originaly it was a system to protect children now children take advantage of it. It's like hey I can what every I want I am still considered minor, and can get a slap on the wrist. Basically a very low punishment for such a serious crime. It's BS. In a way it's more rough but still the inmates aren't as bad as in the U.S.They are more violent and rappy. In Russia it's more cramped they don't get as much food or care unless they are snitches.

I would be all for corporal punishment, if it wasn't for the information I've read. Apparently, housing and feeding, is less then a fourth of what it cost to execute that prisoner. Given we house more prisoners than we execute, I don't know how that all adds up, but over all, I was for it, until I found out the cost. You can always Google it for the exact amount.
