I rarely hear about the state of Jefferson splitting apart from California. But I hear of the more popular way to split CA is make the state line from North CA and Southern CA is where Monterey is at. and distupte between norcal and Socal is over Water rights from the Delta in Sacramento County and Solano county.

I currently live in Jacksonville, Oregon, but I would love to see the State of Jefferson spring up between the 39th and 44th parallel (just north of Sacramento to just south of Eugene), and from longitude 120 west to the ocean. We'd have the tallest trees, the deepest lake, and more beautiful scenery than any two other states in the union. (If I did the math right, that would give us just over 2 million Jeffersonians, and three seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.)

There should be 3 states where California is now.....

State of L.A. , State S.F. and The State of California. I was Born and Raised here in California. We as a State have been summed up by the fruits and nuts in LA and SF. Outside of these 2 areas Californians are pretty normal. We should be represented as such.

@PsypherDeus my state is almost as bad. thirty countys are hard core staunch conservative (85% if the state geographically) and three counties are hard core staunch liberal commie sympathisers. the problem is the commies have 52% of the population. to our 48%. i was hoping boeing would move their head quarters to texas. so they would leave and we could have our state back. but now that they got the contract for those tankers i dont think that will happen any time soon. god bless

Fuck that jefferson state shit..California should be united as one and only one North and South Cali..Oregon should just stay as they are theres no need for jefferson state....Viva BEAR FLAG REPUBLIC!!

So I have a question. If the country should split up into different countries (not saying it should, just what if?) Would you prefer to

a) join northern Oregon and Washington as a nation

b) join California as a country

c) make your own country of Jefferson or

d) other

I'm just curious what places you think identify with you more culturally.

For me it would be A. In the south it's very flat, lots of big cities, very latin influenced culture. Up here it's mountains and farms. We just identify more with the Pacific NW than soutern Cali. Placer County I would call the cultural line, but that is opinion and easily disputed.

Even if they get their own state, it probably won't be called Jefferson. Back when Colorado was becoming a state, they tried to name it Jefferson, but came to the realization that TJ didn't like stuff named after him, so they went a different direction.

It's about time you got to this part of the country. This whole Jefferson thing has actually been going on for decaeds now. You should've covered some of the history of this effort as well.
