very smooth..gotta love her touch...great bottom fills..and I see where you compare to Jaco, but he introduce a sound there wasn't on bass and a style. Tal has hers too..give her time and she'll be known as the best in jazz.
Have had the pleasure to have seen both Jaco and Tal live. Both were awesome but I think it is unfair to try to compare them, especially as Jaco is sadly no longer with us. They are both unique. Tal for someone her age is an immense talent, and it will be interesting to follow her career.
Sounds to me like she's got writing chops to match her fearsome playing. There's something about her playing that excites parts of me that other bass players don't get to. Yes I know that's a cheap shot - but in another way I'm serious. She's so melodic and inventive and never seems to run out of ideas. Her playing is exciting. It's exciting in the same way Jaco was back in the day - because it's fresh and original and you've never heard bass played quite like that before.

Ich bin absolut positiv überrascht. Von dieser jungen Dame werden wir, da bin ich mir ganz sicher, noch sehr viel hören. Einfach toll wie sie sich hier zeigt. Ein Genuss und Ohrenschmaus. Had the pleasure of seeing tal with jeff beck in Dublin a few months ago. Awesome, but a someone commented reminded me very much of Jaco Pastorious who I also had the great fortune to see in New york many years ago.
Lucky you to go to NAMM. If there were a hall of fame for bass players, you just met one of the future members. I play guitar but seeing how at ease she is on the fretboard is quite impressive. Reminds me a little bit of Jaco P.
Yeah, and, I also noticed, she has tiny hands ! Amazing, what she can play, with that fact in mind. Actually, if it wasn't for her curls, I probably wouldn't have recognized her--she looks barely older than a kid at the mall.
That's what's so amazing about her, certainly not your typical musician superstar. She left Australia when she was 16 and played in the music scene in Los Angeles/SoCal. She got sponsored by guitar builder Roger Sadowsky and has played with everyone from Jeff Beck to Chick Corea. She's only about 22 now. Now that's impressive. A bass guitar savant.
Her parents can take credit, as well....this kind of talent is nurtured at an early age....thanks mum, thanks dad!..you saw something very special, and acted accordingly.
Not only does this bring a tear, I was weeping even more after listening and seeing the Jeff Beck at Ronnies collection. Absolutely incredible!!!
One of my favorite bass players!

@lorentzmpersson
1) I never said it was
(There are a couple notes that are sharp. That's what you jump to opine on, gross.)
2) intonation is NOT a question of a stroboscope measurement per se.
12-tone ET ≠ perfect intonation. In fact impossible on a fretted instrument. 'Out of tune' is too strong by half. What's the point?
You are free to do a little more research on intonation in practice. It's contextual.

Had the pleasure of seeing tal with jeff beck in Dublin a few months ago. Awesome, but a someone commented reminded me very much of Jaco Pastorious who I also had the great fortune to see in New york many years ago.

Met her today at the NAMM convention. Real sweet kid, no ego.

Does anyone know who plays the keyboards for her? The whole band sounds really good in my opinion.

Geoff Keezer! Love his work with the Christian McBride Band too.

This always grounds me when things get crazy out there. Sure glad this is still here.

She has the chops of Jeff Berlin - the way she attacks the notes, and I hope he appreciates her as much as I do!
