  • I keep hearing people say that it is the woman's choice to wear the burqa but I've never heard of a reason as to why a woman would choose to wear it, why she would choose to cover her face, her identity, her facial expressions, her voice...it seems odd to choose to be a shadow.

  • I thought better of Australia... where has all this racist bullshit come from?

  • @TheSelfishAltruist "Racist bullshit?" Islam isn't a race, numbnuts, it's a so-called religion.

  • @recalcitrist1 Yes but most muslims are 'brown' and eat funny food, and speak funny and wear funny clothes. Thats why people distrust them. Its why racism exists, and is why anti islamification is a growing serious threat to peace and democracy in Europe.

Its tragic that people cant see when their cave man nature is coming out.

  • what a loser

  • @hypnocil10 jelousy is a disease.

  • @Serahxx20 shut up Muslim garbage

  • freedom only works in one way in this society...

  • dang we are in the 21th century yet we don't allow people to wear whatever they wanna wear but yet we allow people of same sex to get married, we encourage young adults to get drunk and do drugs...what a messed up world, oh the irony of this society will never cease to amaze be (and not in a good way)

  • I find it funny that those who advocate burqas usually do not wear burqas.

  • @StoogeWatcher so what? everyone is free to do whatever they want

  • @StoogeWatcher Since when did you have to be "one of them" to support "them"?

That's like saying I have to be poor in order to advocate charity. What kind of backwards logic is that?

  • From Christianity to Islam.....out of the frying pan, into the fire!

  • she's simply amazing...

  • it's Islam not Izlam .

  • Oh please. This woman - like most other women harping on about 'choosing' to wear the burka - need a reality check. Whether you 'choose' to wear it or not, at the end of the day they are ascribing themselves to a tradition that has it's origins in religious suppression of women. These modern day burka wearing feminists need to get a grip. I don't know why they always overlook this fact and harp on about how they choose to do it.

  • @popaddict the burka DOES NOT come from origins of suppression. In fact it came about because of the very idea of protecting women and making them heard. Giving them the rights to their bodies, when in those times other religions gave women no rights, including bury and raping their girls, daughters alive. For many people, they are stuck this very mindset of what they "think" they know, and not being able to open up to how others accept what feminism is. Do your research before making statements

  • @cup1207cake @popaddict

I also want to add, that the burka is NOT mandatory in Islam, it is optional for women to even cover their face. The only requirement is to cover hair, and body. Yes, there is some cultural aspects in the burka, however there must be some understanding that the burka is a CHOICE, and it should be respected that women make their own choices.

  • Gosh..she is missing out one big point..the dressing it is about MODESTY! This is why i love Myriam Francois Cerrah better than her.

  • @clip012 She did mention that indirectly by making the point about some people wearing it to change the object of conversation with women from their bodies to what they have to say.

  • @senorfreebie yes..but by mentioning 'modesty' it is easier to understand..than trying to sift thru everyword and trying to understand what is actually she trying to say. :)

  • @clip012 so you're saying all women who don't wear what islam prescribes are immodest eh

muslim women aren't respected in earths hottest temps where they suffer hideously due to body overheating/infections/hideous skin disorders/medical problems...yet women who for centuries in hot climates are healthy/respected more yet wearing little more than coloured beads

  • That circle host should wear one to cover her enormous forehead you could land a helicopter on that head

  • @HibzSh ..."Islam is peaceful and spiritually fulfilling"...Well, Theo van Gogh got obviously some other opinion about that. Thanks to your great 'example' the 'profet' Mohammed who was clearly a pedophile serial killer.

  • It has nothing to do with causing trouble against the interest of ruling party's, it is because they are using the freedoms granted to them by living in a free western Country to attempt to eventually impose a totalitarian society basted solely on Religion and hate, that will take away everyones freedom. Even the freedom of muslims.

  • Susan, i like u

  • I have noticed in all of her interviews they never get her opinion on 911, Bali bombing, London underground bombing, bombing of International Hotels around the world. All perpetrated by Muslims. All aimed at innocent civilians, and apparently, all sanctioned by her God

  • Very interesting person. To the previous posters who argued about Islam. You shouldn't criticize one's religion or customs. As for the latter who are defending your beliefs, you shouldn't criticize on one's intelligence. Especially those who attack your religion. It's called moral ethics. If you lack the morality to honor each others thoughts then you will bring more hate and malice thus resulting in no equal terms on both sides. Good day to you.

  • i like when she says when you just think about what the religion says, and i put aside all the politics and .. at 2.45 .. not every one can observe phenomenon like this. i dont support or not-support her, but i admire to observe things without previous perceptions

  • you are very persuasive susan thank you very much may allah bless you

  • @alnimritiger Yeah as if you really needed convincing.

  • Waleed and Susan are a wonderful example of a young modern Muslim couple.

Personally the burqa does make me feel a bit uncomfortable but in no way do I think I have ANY right to tell any woman what she can and cannot wear.

As a feminist I believe in freedom of choice and expression and that goes for burqa-wearing women to strippers. I might not like it but it's their lives and their choice.

  • Susan Carland is a liar and a hypocrite. Whilst she comes across to people as a very "progressive" Muslim, I have it on very good authority she and her husband Waleed Aly are quite close to people within the terrorist organization, Hizb ut-Tahrir.

  • @demonman444 well i think she was well said and her views represent many other muslim women in autralia

  • @demonman444 hizb ut tahrir has never been proven to have any links to violence or terrorism. as an organisation they have never commited a violent act.

  • @novan08 If that's the case, why is Hizb ut-Tahrir banned all over the world, even in the Islamic world?

  • @demonman444 surely you can think a bit harder than that. Because it's a powerful and viable political ideology that is diametrically opposed to the interests of the state system and their regimes. It has the ability to destabilise the state.

  • @novan08 Exactly, that's why it should be banned here. What purpose do they serve here in Australia other than to stir up trouble in the Muslim community?

  • @demonman444 I was particularly answering the case of HT being banned in mid east or countries with high muslim population because its there that HT politics actually has a higher chance of success or state opposition. If you apply your thinking, we have lots of parties and groups to ban - including the many that helped to cause and promote Cronulla and Fred Nile's goons. But we're better than that. Democracy, freedom, and one of the cleanest political systems in the world

  • @demonman444 in other words, you cant ban it because its against the constitutional rights of this country. What a laughable thing to do, to ban a party or group here (that has every right to exist), because it stirs trouble or because it is against the interest of the ruling parties.

  • @birdbrain666 Middle easterners are technically Caucasian...

  • Some primitive fanatic muslims, can't handle the facts, then they try to justify the lies with lies or violence or killing,in the past centuries they were able do it with curved swords power, people had two choices, submitting to islam or cutting off head, but unfortunately in current days thier curved swords have no power to cut heads and their camels and horses can't fly over skies,14 centuries the same lies and dreams, but no one step forwarard,on the contrary day by day backward steps,

  • Well,it seems to me she has been studying in a taqiyya school (lying),,but she needs more practicing to make the lies logical to receive a lying diplom and reasonable payments, for her devil's sake, whom and who she's fooling ? camel fuckers,BTW we all know the facts of islam on the ground then her lies wouldn't change or conseal the facts, she can fool herself and islam itself,

  • @lucyana222 yeah...you need to brush up on your arabic. "taqiyyah" refers to lying under dangerous circumstances only i.e. if you're threatened or whatever.

    Islam forbids lying in general.

Oh, and the fact that you can't spell "conceal" and your choice of rather childish insults shows you're highly uneducated thus your opinions are meaningless in these types of matters.

Have a nice day though. :)

  • @fandanstan It's embarrassing & shameful to lie for whatever circumstances,in fact taqiya isn't only under dangrous circumstances, muslims are allowed to lie for any thing which is on behalf of islam, esp lying to non muslims,as at wars, debates, justifying muslim criminals against non muslims, instead correcting my spelling mistakes, you must correct the taqiyya & your lies & your fucked-brain,72 virgins waiting for you if you're a muslim male pig,if you're a poor muslim female then I'm sorry for you

  • @lucyana222 Nope. I've actually studied Islam, and you're absolutely wrong. Lying is absolutely forbidden in most circumstances.

In various parts of the Quran, lying is denounced:

"... So shun the abomination of idols, and shun lying speech " (Quran 22:30)

"Confound not truth with falsehood, nor knowingly conceal the truth." (Quran 2:42)

You've obviously got a twisted view of Islam that has been shaped by the media. It's very sad to see brainwashed ppl like you. Please, READ A BOOK

  • @fandanstan You started with small lies & ended with huge lies, that's your culture & education which r given by islam over 14 centuries, lying, denying, ignoring, killing in the name of alah, the lies even entered into blood,we read the quran & islamic books al hadith & we heard violent speeches in the mosques by sheiks & islamic tv channels & we saw violences & terrors on the ground then what r u fooling on youtube & telling me,READ A BOOK,perhaps you want me to read ALI BABA's books as u've done it

  • @lucyana222 I quoted for you, and you still deny the truth. I feel sorry for you, as your brainwashing seems to have solidified.

Oh, and I've never heard of Ali Baba. You see? You're twisted.

  • @fandanstan don't bother reply to people like this. Not worth our precious time. They can't even spell and they curse a lot. Let's just keep the beautiful religion to ourselves. I don't want to share my knowledge of the truth to ignorant bigots. At times like this I read Al-Kafiroon and makes me feel good.

  • i love her i love her i love her i love her i love her!

mashaAllah excellent responses! inshaAllah the media interviews more Muslim women and show the world that we aren't oppressed and are actually very liberated Alhamdulillah

  • Its kind of funny.

If she goes like this infront of any of the religious Islamic clerks they gonna kill her :P

they'd say "GET BACK INTO THE KITCHEN AND SERVE YOUR HUSBAND OR ELSE THE ANGELS WILL CURSE YOU"

    what bullshit.

  • @emideeisk learn something about islam before spewing ur bs. Moron

  • Why doesn't anyone make a issue of women having to cover themselves in Saudi Arabia? Even if when some dont want to?

Its a law there, and its done to safe guard their culture, Just like Aus is banning burqa to safeguard THEIR culture, Why is it that western women who go to Arabia willingly wear the niqab and accept their culture but Muslim women in Austlia cannot accept Australia's culture?

Let women wear what they want in your Muslim country and we'll allow women to wear they want it ours. :)

  • Send her to Saudi Arabia or Iran, she won't be allowed to dress like that!

  • @hotpinkmakeupgrl you ever been to Saudi? I can safely say that you are wrong.

  • very well spoken!

  • She's beautiful....must be a blonde....

  • Malika810 and your point is? Intoduction is not origination. As soon as the Talibs took control EVERY woman had to wear a burka, packs of sadistic men patrolled the streets and towns beating any female who dared venture outdoors alone. The burka was used as a tool of isolation for these women. Is that your idea of freedom. My understanding of Islam and its good book, Islam would never condone such actions. Education; not isolation of girls will eradicate the burka and give them fredom.

  • @bessymaypearl yeah, and women in america are abused for actually wearing it, because of nasty men wanting women to bear all to see.

Freedom is if women wanna wear it, let 'em wear it.

  • I just dont like the idea of shutting people out of society. If these women do it of their own free will and have no want to be included in society then making laws wont help them. Maybe we should get our influences from such liberal ideals as the Taliban where this garment originated. One thing is for sure the Taliban did not introduce it for female enlightenment.

  • @bessymaypearl Burqa/Niqab never originated from Taliban

  • Its always the same simplistic bullshit 'oh if it works for them then thats their choice'. How about the rest of society? Maybe it doesn't 'work for them' to have people walking around with their faces covered up so you can't see who the fuck they are. It is a hugely anti-social and shady thing to do to walk around not showing your face, it makes people uneasy, they can't identify the person, etc...so society has an interest in this, its not just 'whatever works for them is ok'.

  • That's sharp!

  • There could be many reasons why Susan Carland wears a Hijab, perhaps she suffers from alopecia or perhaps she has a forehead as high and rounded like Yumi Stains

  • @msconfabulate1 Or maybe she wants to please her Lord according to her religion?

    Occam's razor.

  • i honestly think her husband is a lucky man. she is smart, faithful, open-minded, has her own ideology and beautiful. what else is there to dream of in a woman?

  • @waelben2000 How about that she doesn't believe in utter bullshit? At least that is on my wish list...

  • the barqa is 1 step closer 2 sharia law

  • I feel offended when I see a burqa. They say to me 'Idon't want to know you, I don't want to speak to you, I want NOTHING to do with you!' I don't give a damn if Muslims are offended by us wanting to ban the burqa, because they offend me, and this is my country!

  • ....and as for saying a burka signifies unfriendliness, thats just your interpretation... the truth is its the people like you who even without covering your face dont know how to respect anyone, who dont want to have NOTHING to do with others from different cutures and are arrogant about your own insignificant loser lives - people like you know nothing about culture, history, meaning, happiness or spirituality ...YOU offend me, and i for one dont give a damn about losers like you !

  • @Kaffyboy : so ur are an aboriginal?? if not then why dont you F*#K OFF back to your country then? the land of your ancestors -somewhere in europe probably.... nothing justifies imposing white western culture on another native land and culture..... so how dare you be offended by other foreigners to this land when you are a foreigner yourself? its people like you who make me laugh at your st*pidity lolzzzzz

  • @abhiisme As a matter of fact, I DO have aboriginal heritage..so why don't YOU fuck off you filthy, dirty motherfucker. Go fly a plane into something you muslim prick.

  • @Kaffyboy It also their country, not only yours.

  • @thrashmetal4life1 No it's NOT. If they want to adopt our way of life when they come here, then I don't have a problem, but when they come here forcing their backwards way of life onto us, then they can fuck right off!!!

  • @Kaffyboy Once again, if theyre legal citizens, they should be able to wear whatever they want. And yes it is u prick.

  • How left wing must TEN be?

  • She's so well spoken and I feel like she is truly speaking on my behalf; the first time a muslim woman in the media has ever been able to do that. Respect

  • Why are they trying to break down Barriers? Why cant ye lust live amongst yourselves, besides putting your culture onto people who dont care about your culture or alla ?? It would be like me going to Saudi Arabia or your Muslim countries and marching down your streets with a St Patricks day parade!!! I have no interest in your country religon or cultures or what you dress like, so keep it in your own countries and out of mine !!!!!!!Thats my opinion and i would think most Irish people..

  • @MsStevenstar Well said! I agree with you 100%

  • The woman that walked by the camera puching a child in a stroller...I thought it was a Darth Vader costume!

  • what she said is all very true. but she isnt even wearing hijab. she looks like jenifer hawkins with an extra fashion accessory on her head.

    allah yahdeeha.

  • I love how she wears the hijab and dolls her face up with makeup at the same time.

  • shes completely wrong in applying makeup may Allah swt guide her

  • @infantileretard

She's on TV - they always put makeup on people who go on TV, even the men.

  • The Quran says its ok to beat your wife, the prophet muhammed personally chopped off peoples heads, so you cant blame the people for "misunderstanding" Islam. There are old men today is Afghanistan marrying(abusing) 9 year old girls. How can they know its wrong if their Prophet did the same thing?

  • @tubester4567 ummmm where did it say Muhammad (PBUH) chopped off people's heads?! He was one of the most understanding and compassionate people. Can you please tell where you got that information?

  • @TeamFisabillahRules1 Hi, yes watch this video from Pakistani Atheist. watch?v=uqwbb8Mhqcg .

  • @TeamFisabillahRules1 its in the quaran, dont deny it cause it is, go read it properly, or if ur that lazy go google it.

  • Muslims are human beings, they are prone to error, the religion itself, Islam is peaceful and spiritually fulfilling. What is so intimidating about this lady? Shes beautiful, well spoken, well dressed, pleasant, and so are the other 99% of Muslims, its just the other 1% that get all the press time. Before people critisize i wish theyde just educate themselves about the religion first, instead of talking about people who claim to be muslims.

  • @HibzSh "Muslims are human beings" human beings don't stone women to death, they don't behead people, they don't cut hands off for stealing, they do'nt cut the clitoris of women, they don't have child brides, they don't have multiple wives, they don't strap bombs to themselves and kill innocent people. Muslims still live in the 7th century. Their way of life is not compatible with the west, all they are doing is causing problems wherever they go.

  • @HibzSh "Muslims are human beings, they are prone to error, the religion itself, Islam is peaceful and spiritually fulfilling."

Of course Muslims are human beings; people who say any different aren't worth listening to. The problem with Islam is that it is a regressive, absolutist, political ideology as well as a personal religion. The mandates for 'peace' in Islam are all intended for imperial governance (i.e. after the wars of conquest have been victorious over the 'Dar al-Harb').

  • @HibzSh MashAllah, well explained.

  • @HibzSh You are retarded if you think islam is peaceful. The punishment for leaving islam is death, that is taught in the quran. The punishment for women displaying their hair is death. The QURAN teaches that muslims should kill all infidels and non believers. Many muslims might be peaceful, but Islam is NOT A PEACEFUL RELIGION. 90% of muslims don't condemn the actions of islamic extremists, probably 80% of them endorse it. Islam is a violent hate filled religion

  • @youbetzler Very interesting. The Quran that i read does not preach the killing of non-believers or women who show their hair. As a matter of fact islam condemns the killing of another being. I really think you should check your sources mate, and stop watching too much CNN.

  • @susannahzee Quran (2:191-193) - "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]... but if desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah." I can quote you over 100 more like this. Direct from the Quran, not CNN. Not that i ever watch CNN being Australian anyway

  • @youbetzler Many verses of the Quran are "snipped" out of their context. In order to understand what is being portrayed in this verse, it is essential to look at the entire passage to understand what is being said, why and to whom. If you do put this verse into context you will find out that its talking about a time when Muslims were kicked out of their homes and killed by the idolators. This surah was then revealed telling the Muslims to fight back (selfdefence). Nevertheles Peace be with you.

  • @susannahzee (Quran 4:89) "But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks."

And your whole "a time when.." argument is weak sauce. You just like the christians and the jews claim that god/allah is eternal, infallible and absolute. By using simple logic (not your best suit) what he says then is true before after and forever. Just accept it you might ignore the violent stuff but it's in there like it or not

  • @susannahzee And "Slay them wherever ye find them" is not self defence no matter what context it is in. This means look for them and kill them, that is premeditated murder.

  • Comment removed

  • @susannahzee you just don't get it. I don't care what context it's in, that is a direct order of violence and hatred. And it doesn't matter if there are positive things also, there were positive things in Mein Kampf does that mean i should be happy about Nazism? No get a fucking clue you moron. I am infinitely more open minded than you so don't try that old bullshit on me. Unlike you i treat all religions equally and view them on their merits. All of them are bullshit, and Islam is the worst

  • @susannahzee It's laughable that you preach about being open minded yet you pidgeonhole me as some kind of ignorant close minded islamaphobe. When in reality i've studied islam objectively and weighed it on it's merits. I used to think it was a peaceful religion till i really understood it. Same thing with Christianity and Judaism, they are all vile hate filled evils masquerading as peace givers. You only have to look at the area of which these three religions were made up, riddled with violence

  • No Muslim woman is free to make the choice really. Either their husband wants her to wear it, or she thinks a magic being wants her to wear it. That's partly what's liberating about being an atheist; no dictator, whether natural or supernatural, forces a dress code on you, you just wear things for yourself and no other.

  • @PR0GRAMMING the thing is, no one's forcing her to be a Muslim, a women CHOOSES to be Muslim. So that means she CHOOSES to follow the rules of Islam.

  • And its hard to believe anyone from a religion that teaches its OK to lie to infidels.

  • If its such a personal choice and they dont get pressure from anyone, why do western journalists who visit places like saudi arabia and other parts of the middle east have to wear a head covering to do their interviews? I've also seen plenty of reports from Muslim women in Muslim countries that are harrassed in the street for not wearing one. Susan Carland may seem moderate like Keysar Trad but he thinks 9/11 was a great thing. Islam is a fraud just like Christianity.

  • @tubester4567 Well I'm not a professional (but I am a young Muslim girl), but your question about why journalists have to cover their head in the Middle East can be answered like this: Some people in the Middle East may not actually know all the teachings of Islam, if you look at reporters in India, (my background) they are not asked to cover their head, nor are they in Canada, Mexico, and other countries over the world, all of which have Muslims. I really hope that answered your question

  • @TeamFisabillahRules1 Hi, well that is the common excuse when we see negative outcomes from Islam(and other religions). Its not the religion its the people, well maybe Islam is not so good or understandable for average people. This video makes my point clear " watch?v=RLeawGcFjB4 "
