Remember this on Radio Caroline when i was working the grave yard shift listening to Caroline through the night and this being played when Caroline finished and Radio Miamigo transmissions started happy days great radio
@mrspeedoracer Me too..this is one of my most favourite songs, I remember those Radio Caroline and Mi Amigo days very fondly..great memories. Shame we can't have those times back again!
Was waiting for someone to post this; what sweet pedal steel. I love this album, and this is one of, if not the best track on it. Reminds me of carefree summer camping trips 25 years ago in my old '66 Chevy hopein' it wouldn't break down . . .
I recently read that Jerry Garcia was the pedal steel player for alot of the New Riders songs. I don't know if that's him, but what BEAUTIFUL steel in this song. I often find myself whistling or humming the melody of just the steel alone from this song, after not hearing heard it for 10-20 years! Thank you so much for a true gem of a song.
A long long time ago in Frederick Maryland when I was in college, the New Riders played at a local theater where I was volunteering and I got to unload their equipment onto the stage and meet them and even hand a tower to one of them when he was in the shower ! LOL. Wonderful group !!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I've loved this song since 70s when Radio Caroline used to sign off with this at 2am. I never knew the title or the band and I think I've driven people mad over the yrs asking if they remembered it. And lyrics too. Brill
@vizzioify Me too, always reminds me of Radio Caroline...those were the days! Remember in the middle instrumental bit they used to play "From a point at sea...to the circles in your mind...this is the new...Radio Caroline".
Listened to radio caroline earlier today on tne internet with 70's and 80's jock Nigel Harris sounding as good as ever. Said they will be broadcasting from the ship again over the last weekend in May 2010. Hard to believe its been surviving on since 1964.
Glad to finally find this superb song on You Tube. Also takes me back to the days of Radio Caroline broadcasting from the Mi Amigo and later the Ross Revenge. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for posting. In case you might not know, this tune was used by the Offshore radio station, Radio Caroline, which was anchored off the SE Coast of England.
It was played when the station closed down at night or when their Radio Ship was in peril from rough seas etc. The station was named after the daughter of the former US President. Thanks.
