This is part of an incredible 17 miinute opus that is on side 2 of the Shine On Brightly record, and it is also done live amazingly well on the Procol Live record with the Edmonton choir and orchestra in Canada. Too bad that show was not video taped as it's a great concert. Procol Harum is by far the most underrated band that rock history has failed to acknowledge with an entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
This line up - are all rock gods. Can music get better than this album? I asked... and then came along 'A Salty Dog' and I can't answer... I love both equally, the latter seems to be a better production and I'm not saying that just because Matthew Fisher did it.
hey. my younger bro (biggest procul harum fan) was in h.s. too. he was in a band that did original music similar to harum. what a shame none of it was recorded.
has anyone of today's music fans ever had 'las lagrimas en susu ojos' after listening to the contemporary rock, pop etc? My youth was blessed. These tunes will never happen again
stole this album from high school summer school. Took 3 months to key on the great guitar/ organ duet near the end. Yeah, Robbie and Mathew, you still give me shivers.
Many many thanks for posting this. It's still amazing and sends goosepimples up my arms. PH possessed the best vocalist and drummer of that or any other generation and go down in my estimation as the most underrated band of all time.

When I was young this music was so important to me that it was a part of me. Now that I have grown, Loved, and Lost it is more important than ever.

It's such a roller coaster of tunes, but I love the guitar solo, but the organ is exquisite, absolutely the best 30 seconds of it anywhere

This excerpt is still (40 years on) one of my most treasured pieces of music.
It still reduces me to tears.
Old souls recognise the underlying spiritual vibrations of this music......

Thanks for posting. Haven't heard this great
song for at least 20 years or more. Funny how
this whole genre of music has faded from
the music scene. You can't even buy Procol
Harum at any of the Big Box stores. Very
well written melodies and the chord structures
are well beyong most pop music. Shine On!

In the autumn of my madness when my hair is turning grey
for the milk has finally curdled and I've nothing left to say
When all my thoughts are spoken (save my last departing birds)
bring all my friends unto me and I'll strangle them with words
In the autumn of my madness which in coming won't be long
for the nights are now much darker and the daylight's not so strong
and the things which I believed in are no longer quite enough...
