:D Haha, funny to see so many things in here that I'm familiar with (example: I just went to Cafe du Monde a week or so ago, and same with Dante's Kitchen). That cemetery they showed, I live real close to there :D
does anyone knows what tiana is baking in the movie?? You saw them (I guess) in that trailer too... It looks so delicous :( I want to eat them too!!!!!
Okay, I admit I'm being picky, but does Disney not have a spell-checker? The possessive form of Louis is Louis's, not Louis.' Am I the only person who learned how to speak English correctly?
My family hails from New Orleans as well, and I must, say, this is a fantastic movie! The accents were spot on, Ray's cajun accent (coincidentally, my father's name is Raymond!) And Doctor Facillier is my favoite character in the film, especially since he's based off of Doctor John, the voodoo king. (Mama Odie is clearly baseed off of Marie Laveau) Only problem I had was that the Mississippi River was put on the wrong side of the Saint Louis Cathedral.
As A New Orleans native I can truly say that this movie was a spectacular representation of the marvel that is this city. Though there are some lines and jokes in there that only natives to Louisiana would get. I am proud of this movie as a representation of where I am from. It is truly a gift to New Orleans, this movie. Way to go Disney, I'd rather see this than Miley Cyrus or Camp Rock.
(sorry for the double post) @, you might not waant to live there when you see the mess that's STILL left over from Hurricane Katrina. and the way that the state is treating iit's citizens when it comes to homes and resources. (The system fails again!)
Yes, its Disney at its best!. I know that sounds like every thing being said, but truly I saw it the other day and I fell in love again. It is the Disney that I grew up with and like the video said it shows a real place so true and so full of life with music and food that you wanna go see it, and be in the culture your self. The movie is deff. a MUST SEE, I can't wait to go see it again.
i used to hang out with my best guy friend in n.o. he's born and raised there and we used to spend time together during his b-day or mardi gras , every year. i also recommend the movie. its great and i cant wait until it comes out to dvd.
we get our first african american president and all of a sudden disney wants to create their first african american princess, how ironic, don't get me wrong, its great, i've been waiting for disney to create their first african american princess but i wish they had done it before this moment cause i mean we've been waiting for the first african american disney princess for along time, anyways i'm really looking forward to this film, it looks good
@lovelydiva06 disney has been working on this since 06, before anyone knew who barack was. the events are completely unrelated. this movie was supposed to come out in 08 but disney wanted to come correct so they made a lot of changes. go see the movie, and understand the barack is a reflection of change, not a cause
You can thumbs down this if you please, but what was up with the accent. Disney could have at least did a casting call in Southeast Louisiana for the REAL New Orleans Accent for the human characters. Thankfully Ray came along and it was a trip when they asked what was up with his accent when that WAS New Orleans. Overall it's a MUST see. It's bout time Disney has a Black Princess, and they introduced her to the world well .^_^.
I'm a lifelong native of New Orleans and the surrounding area and I loved it! The local audiences have been very receptive and the word it out. Go see this film!
im so happy its out u know im goin c that and its in my hometown NEW ORLEANS!! Anybody should really go there u will love but dat is a good question y isnt the prince black?
well if they r all black it would cause contoversy but at least they made him sort of Creole in the movie ( black/french) so all in all they did a good job
super film vie la new orleans!!!!!! bravo les gars c balaise et tres actuel (histoires d amour )

hah, but they were working on this movie way before Obama won :P
giraffesarereal 2 years ago 6
Indeed, they found the composer and started auditions for voice casting back in 2006.

Disney started working on The Princess and the Frog in 2005, before most people knew who Obama was.

That's weird. Watching this gave me some Disney nostalgia feeling and I haven't even seen this picture yet. It must be Randy Newman's soundtrack.
