i can uderstand mate...not ur fault.....Bush is responsible for all, what he has done to ur country and its image worldwide otherwise ur country was a dream country when Clinton was there...best president USA ever had....
@melbournepure Bush absolutley SUCKED as a president. Fucked this country over worse than Nixon. And my opinon of who's in office now? Let's just say, Obama is a good man, but not a good president. America is really nothing that special or exciting to me, just another country in the 193 countries on the planet.
@melbournepure I just hope with all my heart that the US gets its shit together and soon. And mabye we can actually be friends with other countries again. Incidentally, how is Australia? I've always wanted to go there....
Make no mistake, I've lost ALL faith in my country. I want to leave but I always feel like I'll be unwelcomed every other country I go, you have NO idea what it feels like. Your LUCKY you're not American. Its like your surrounded by 4 giant walls and you can't get out.
i saw this film for the fist time recently and i fell in love with it, it truely is a masterpiece, and oh how i cried! i simply love this song its so beautiful and touching. thanks =)
I saw the movie Australia when it first came on Netflix. I loved the movie! I've wanted to visit Australia for a very long time, this movie made me even more want to visit. Nice song from Sir Elton John.
I like the movie, I like this song, but I have a slight issue with a song about the aussie drover being sung by a pom... Please don't flame me, I am a HUGE fan of Elton John, and I understand there is a connection between England and Australia, but they are seperate countries now, and someone like John Williamson would have been a better choice of artist for this.
I absolutely love this movie, it's one of my favourite. It's simply a masterpiece, and I adore it 'cause Nicole and Hugh are two of the living actors I like the most! *_*
I have always been attracted to Australia since I was a child, I wish I could live there... Maybe one day...!
@danielemenotti i also wanted to go there since i can think :) and i'm going to have the chance this summer :) i'm from germany and this summer i'm gonna fly to australia and live there for one year and go to school and anything :) i'm the most excited person ever ^^
It is nice to know that people around the world loves our country. And thanks to the person who made this video...you showed a lot pictures about the indigenious Australians...Being aboriginal myself, this movie shows the history and times of the Aboriginal people and that today it is a little better than it was back then...thanks...
Have fun...come to queensland (that's where i'm from) and enjoy the sun, beach and wonderful food and the aboriginal culture. If you are going up near Far North Queensland...I reccommend the Tablelands and Kuranda...beautiful scenery... if you're heading to the cities, like Sydney and Melbourne...the Sydney Opera house is a favourite as is the Sydney Harbour bridge...Have a great time...and We aussies look forward to seeing you in July!!
I actually found a site where the director said he did it on purpose. Apparently he does have a name but it's not known in the movie.. maybe he wants him to be more mysterious or something.;P
I, too am from Texas [since everyone else put it out there :p]!!
This is a BEAUTIFUL movie- in composition, in acting, in music- just beautiful all around. Yet with all the "quick fixes" of American cinema lately- seems no one wants to EXPERINCE a story, a movie anymore- everyone wants to be amused and excited and gtfo of the theatre. Sorry to sound so cynical, but methinks if this was relased back when Dances With Wolves was around- same run-time almost btw- it might have done better....
I was shocked the movie didn't do better in North America. It was a fabulous movie; I've watched it several times. Those that didn't see it, certainly lost out on a wonderful experience.
This has gone down as one of my all time fave movies ever. Ive had it for months and only bothered to watch it a few days a go. I absolutely love it. Its also been quite educational too.
I loved this movie and the soundtrack and am horrified that it did not do very well here in the U.S. This movie is one of those rare gems which of whom not a lot of people seem to know about.
I'm from Texas, as well, and I think that the movie *Australia* is a superb film, and that definitely includes the soundtrack and songs. Hugh and Nicole did very good jobs (as indeed did the rest of the cast), and Brandon Walters was robbed of at least an Oscar *nomination*. I'm appalled that the film didn't do better here in the States. Thanks for posting this song and the accompanying video compliation (really nice!) for us to enjoy!! ;)
hey, not all us Americans are dumb. I'm from Texas, so I know what you're talking about, with the wide open spaces and just how beautiful and rugged the land can be. Australia is cool. :D
They certainly sound like Taupin lyrics. If not, then Tim Rice. First time I've heard the banjo so dominantly in an Elton John song since Honky Cat. I love Elton's trademark key change while sweeping into the instrumental portion of this song. "He just watched his faith in man die in the mud." very much sounds like a Taupin-ism. That line is also sang with classic Elton John phrasing and vocal texture.
Do you mean Elton and Taupin? Actually, Taupin was featured on the cover of an Elton CD for the first time with Elton's latest release, The Captain and the Kid. They are very much still together; it's just that Captain and the Kid did not sell very well, despite receiving rave critical reviews, and Elton may be giving up his enthusiasm for releasing new product, as he feels he can't do better than Captain and the Kid at this point in his career.
Yes... Oh, I'm sorry, did I just exchange Taupin with Rice? Oh, I didn't know that, I just heard that Taupin gave up on Elton as the years went and then the whole Elton being gay also separeted them as friends, so it was weird to get together and work.. But I'm sure you're right, sounds more true ;)
I simply cannot understand why this wonderful film was not as successful as some others; there is absolutely no rhyme or reason --- how in heck could a film about a MALL COP make more money than Australia --- to me, there is just no comparison. Australia was beautiful, well-written, well acted, beautifully filmed, visually stunning and the music --- well, that was just fantastic. I do hope that a soundtrack is released! Thanks for this tid-bit from Sir Elton.
I totally agree - this is the best film I've seen for ages - it as everything, comedy, love story, good story, war, and brilliant music. Hugh and Nicole are a brilliant couple in it.
it's not out yet.. don't know if there will be one!!! ;-) but you could look on the internet.. there are lists with all the songs.. =) and then you could look for the songs!!! i've got a few =) and they are GREAT!!! i love them!!! <33 soo... i hope i could help!!! ;-) greets & good luck!!!
I love this song! Is it available on cd? I looked everywhere for the Australia soundtrack, but I couldn't find it anywhere.
