Salsa was born in NY. Musicians took several rhythms from around the world ie. Cuba, Puerto Rico, Panama, Venezuela, just to mention some. They utilized the Clave (which is African) and fusion their music in a Latin Jazz style. Just like that, many styles of Salsa are dance to the same rhythm: on 1, on 2, salsa millennium which combines 1 and 2, Rueda de Casino (Cuban in itself), Colombian, Mexican, Panamanian, and the list goes on. The truth is that, regardless the style, Salsa is a social dan
Anthony, ,I saw you on the intro doing a double spin, it would be nice if you could do a lesson on some exercises for leaders wanting to learn to double spin and such.
@oskarvivero Actually, I do some workshops on spinning (I'll probably be doing one at the Descarga Festival this year). I'll see how I can explain it in video form as it is more intricate to explain than a dance move. Thanks!
@tdcmoncton Lots, but I would say the main ones are LA style (on 1) and NY style which is on2 and both of which are in straight lines. The other main style being cuban which is circular and tends to utilise more elaborate arm movements but there is so much crossover of styles and there are others eg Columbian that there is no definition or world council determining what is right or wrong!
@tdcmoncton What do you mean? as in styles there are 2 Salsa on 1 aka La style..and Salsa on 2 aka Mambo Ny style...thats what ive learned dancing salsa
I want to bang that chick.
