can't wait for the attack helicopter version of this aircraft. if they do make an attack version i don't want to be the target. imagine how dangerous this bad boy would be.
I wish we had this in 'Nam. Also the A10 Warthog and the M3 Bradley. Those 3 thing would have turned the tide and a lot of my buddies would still be with us. AirCav Forever!
$60M per vehicle vs. $14M for a blackhawk helecopter.
However, it carries twice as many troops, nearly twice the cargo weight, has three times the range, nearly three times as fast, twice the service ceiling, four times the rate of climb, can be refueled in the air, etc.
The V-22 offers the Marines VTOL and is faster, flies higher, and has greater range than helicopters. This offers greater safety as well as a leap forward in tactical capability.
If they help keep Marines out of harm's way, this taxpayer won't complain about the cost.
it would be good if we could end all war and we wouldnt need these kind of things but guess it wont happen seen as there are too many greedy people in the world
Even without the war, we'd still have the tech. I mean people would get bored, and who doesn't love to see giant machines blow each other up? Although war does help advance it because of nobody wanting to compromise, and no rules except the rules of physics, unlike sports which regulate everything down to the weight of the nuts and bolts.
this "thing" is answer why USA is on its knees economicaly .. paying more than 50 billion for "this" is madness ,US military will defeat its own country as soviet military did to USSR
US military isnt just for fighting wars, it sells movies and videogames, which in turn helps in recruiting personell. The equipment needs to be sexy, ike the huey was and the blackhaw is. I dont knof if the V22 fits quite in.
Yeah I read that article too. And if you look into it further you will quickly realize what a hack piece of journalism that was. There are definite ways to criticize the Osprey well, but that article added nothing to the debate. Let alone inform the public about the realities of the situation.

Apart from the Spectre cannot VTOL, so the V22 could be used for rescue missions ect.
MrFin123 2 years ago
i think the spectre can handle anything that one of those would be needed for

i like it a lot but it has not got the quick jump on jump off capability of a uh-60 as it has a rear ramp and no side openings like the black hawk
