昭和一桁生まれの私もシング、シング、シングのジャズのリズム感­に自然と足が動いている。

或る日、犬と散歩していると小学校の音楽室？から八木節のリズム­が流れてきた立ち止まり何時の間にか終りまで聞いていた。

小学生の高学年かと思われるが先生の日頃の指導が人を引き付けて­いる。演奏する者は何かを秘めたものを持っている、将来に向けて­生かせる場を発揮して欲しいと思った。@fujiriver1

@deevan42, as I remember Benny was pretty white himself...... ditto Gene Krupa. Wouldn't surprise me if you are, too..... This is a tough tune to play and they do it quite well. I'm not sure it isn't an overdub. The solos are pretty basic, I think that's the give-away.

@deevan42 Well from what I heard through the grapevine, a good bunch of the members didn't have prior experience on the instruments. They had roughly 5 months training/practice on them and the music. In fact they held a concert (I believe it was called "The First & Last Concert"...which you can get on Amazon) to prove that they, themselves played...not mere dubbing. I'll verify this info later cuz it is intriguing...but if this is true, the "Swing Girls" did extremely well in my opinion :-)

@JazzyZenBrotha I think the music was excellent.But to be perfectly honest the likes and dislikes on youtube videos are very irrelevant as they are very misleading. Videos normally attract only the people who are searching our a particular interest and thus probably like what they are searching for. Just as Punk music and classical have vast amounts of 'likes' they are typically only being judged by those who enjoy that genera of music or even more specifically that artist.

@JazzyZenBrotha Might I add on, @benjamintrb, that the entire cast had almost no musical background when they started filming the movie. They took six months of practise, training and pure hard work to make this movie a hit success. After which they even went on tour to play their music live.

Rapidly becoming one of my favorite versions of this classic song.

Exceptionally delightful, touching, and enjoyable 2004 film co-written and directed by Shinobu Yaguchi.....these girls did play the instruments, and had nothing but the ususual exposure to music as students growing up who took piano lessons, etc. Of course, being a film, there was plenty of chance to fix any errors in the live performance, but this was not a group of professional musicians by any means. Creativity, Love and Exuberance equals solid win.
