  • I'm working on this one myself. Lot's of big intervals. Most are 9#'s and 10th's from the root to the top note. I could play it better if I could play the bass without looking at it at all. Congratulations on being able to play it. Accuracy still needs some work. Obviously not concert quality, but, a major achievement just to be able to play it all the way through.

Paul Barton gives a tutorial on this if you are interested.

  • Excellent...very well controlled at a fine tempo.

  • Guys.. i would like to hear this etude played very very slow as to keep all notes.. just to hold in my mind this fantastic piece. as i am not a misician nor pianist many small items have to be raised up for my knowledge..

  • too slow and a lot of wrong notes.... especially cause u started out with one... id like it faster..... it is probably the piano too.. i can hear it... very clear though(which i liked)

  • This piece is one of Chopin's hardest etudes (for me), cause you need the leap all over the piano without stopping.. You actually made a great job already, quite fluid, at least better than me..

  • I Strongly agree with what Pianocriticskiller says. There are so many idiots who think they are better than everyone. The truth is that most idiots complaining about other person's piano performance don't know damn about piano in real life. (so, plz post your videos first before complaining about someone else's performance. This piece obviously is not easy piece to play for most people)

  • i so envy you wish i could play this in time :)

  • not too bad, whoever said this is one of the easier studies is a moron, don't practice slowly?alternate between fast and slow, short passages fast to get an idea of hand motions

  • I thought it was brilliant... I myself can't stand people that leave bad comments about other peoples playing when they, themselves have NO videos of their so-called skills.

  • @snustin44 Then don't post? will makes yourself and others a lot happier;D. Or one can just ignore it.

  • very bad !!! too difficult for him !

  • very goodddd

  • FUCK YOU to all who complained on this vid. Where the FUCK is YOURS?

He will work out the kinks, and doesn't need your two-bit advice, morons! Kiss his ass!

  • sounds nice on that old piano. what make is it?

  • slow

  • Holy crap your piano is flat

  • IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THIS ETUDE WELL THAN I can recomend to you to sudi wery slowly and PIANO PIANISSIMO

  • I think that he must study very slowly and forte too.

    dont you think?

  • 1) Is this another Godowsky-variant, with all the new spicy harmonic alterations? or

    2) You had too much wodka or too little practise? or

    3) Did you play on a piano that had keys that were a little bit narrower or wider than usually? or

    4) Was it too cold in Russia (because there is an idiot here on Youtube playing the same piece even worse and stating that it was "too hot").

  • You are funny i don't mind, but i practised this great etude and i respect anyone who plays it at least at 120. Maybe you should post your own performance?

  • This is ReALLY GOOD

  • I guess it's just the bad audio quality but your piano sounds very out of tune?

  • it's too slow

  • it's a bit slow, but okay

  • I <3 This song ^_^ Although my small hands come to a big disadvantage o__o

  • I like this, this is great =] Very difficult etude lol.

  • this isn't played well, sorry.

but that being said, this is one of the hardest etudes to perfect. (though it doesn't mean hardest to get to a good level)

  • i think this is great...he plyed it well..its dolce

  • fantastic performance, but a thoroughly crappy piano. What's with the delayed sostuenso and rug on the piano?

  • not too bad. i've heard worse.

  • Beautiful hands

  • i thought that no3 was easier than this one but no4 harder. This one is a really tough one though, it was a fair job

  • well .. not exactly a fantastic interpretation of the piece (rather slow) but good effort though .... i've tried playing it before and gotta admit it's a rather challenging piece.

In time i'm sure you'll get much better.

  • or the sister should let him practice a bit more before recording him? O.o ^^ it takes a lot of time ><

  • Horowitz said that he found this one the hardest.

  • "easiest study of chopin" ??/ Erikk91

u TOTALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT U R TALKING ABOUT!

  • wow you play it really slow, but it still sounds good!

  • awesome piece!

  • Well Done! On my profile I'll feature me playing this soon. But you can watch me play other stuff right now!

  • Anyway, well done! :D i could imagine this taking up alot of your time to learn...

Keep up the good work, and ofcourse, hang on! :D

  • My pianoteacher told me this is indeed one of the more easier etudes of Chopin...

    I guess i'm gonna learn it :P xD :P

  • it is the easiest study of chopin, you must study it slowly and with time it will exit right....excuse for the bad english i'm italian......i'm studying it with this techinique

  • I found etudes number 2 and 12 a little easier but all of them are difficult it goes without saying

  • well played chap..

  • Just don't tell me he's goodlooking as well!

  • One of the hardest of the Chopin etudes! Almost perfect well done! Your hands look to be the size of mine-13th?

  • this is hard, but it is not one of hardest of the etudes actuly quite easy comered with the others,

  • hey awesome dude =)

you play way better than I can play it... lol

  • How old's your brother?

  • Wow!

  • WOW nice piano DANG.

  • It looks as if he can reach an octave with thumb and index finger.

  • =) it doesnt, of course, sound perfect, and the tempo should be much faster but i really understand. this piece is soooo damn hard, much harder than it sounds like. im having so much difficulty playing this. may i ask u how long he took to learn that etude?

  • WOW!...that was awesome!...I wish I had that talent!...

  • This piece is f****ng hard....well done :)

  • Chopin this piece was dedicated to Lizst.

  • I could kill for a pair of hands this size!

My tiny paws aren't made for this piece.
