At the time, Figaro was a huge hit in Prague (much more so than it had been in Vienna where the initial reaction was tepid)...so Prague officials commissioned an opera from Mozart--the result was Don Giovanni. I'm sure the Prague audience got an extra special kick out of the Non piu andrai music here.
@rodrigoantoniosilva7 That's the aria "Non piu andrai" Figaro sings to Cherubino in "The Marriage of Figaro' (it was also in Amadeus, yes) A cute lil Mozart self insert :)
It's worth noting that there are two other tunes in the Don Giovanni-Leoporello scene that were bothered from operas popular at that time ... but only Mozart's is recognizable today!
Of course, Vanness is fantastic as Anna, as is Furlanetto as Leoporello.
The start of the Palace scene shows the maniacal energy of the Don and the magnificent swagger of Mozart at their best, and the aria before is amazing. Bravissima!
we can heard mozart play it in pianno in the movie amadeus (when mozart play a pianno....you can find this in yotube you had just to write mozart vs salieri)
Wow, at 8:50, I never realized this is the same music they used in the movie 'Amadeus' where Mozart plays variations on Salieri's welcoming piece. The scene where the king tells Mozart he'll be commisioned for a symphony.
@zegermans750 Usually the subtitles at that part have Leporello saying something like, "I've heard this song before." You can always tell the true opera nerds apart from the rest - they're the only ones that laugh there!
I got to meet her last january at Indiana University- shes a wonderful person! She has a bum leg though so she has to use a cane- but she has such a huge personality
MY FAVORITE ARIA: THE BEST COMPOSER.

Actually thats from The Marriage of Figaro, its called Non piu Andrai. Mozart is alluding to his own music in this scene.
